Clean room great view of the square .Great value for a nights stay .Evening meal was lovely .And at last a hotel that gives you enough milk for more than one cup of coffee .Would def return

Our room was at the front of the pub, so had a great view of the market square, however bath room fixtures/fittings were shoddy ..towel rail was bent and broken. Shower mat underneath was dirty(I cleaned and removed it) and toilet pipe was tatty and areas were in need of repair and clean. Staff pleasant and room was comfortable with plenty of tea/coffee. No breakfast served. Dog friendly , but were charged another £5 for our dog. We did know about the extra charge but if it's for cleaning the room, then I did it myself and we stripped the bed and emptied bins. We always do this as courtesy. Helmsley is fabulous but shame about the tired room.

Warm welcome from staff. Bed had not been made up so lady went and sorted that before she showed us room. Room was spacious and lovely view of castle from window. Plenty of tea making items. Comfortable bed. Only downside was there was no breakfast available at hotel so we had to wait until 9am when a local cafe opened (cafe on the square) to purchase a breakfast. No on site parking but we managed to park for free on side of road behind hotel
