Dislikes: it’s built on a pretty steep hill, it’s easier to get down but a struggle to climb back up unless your fitness level is better than average. The onsen bath is heavily chlorinated.

We choose the perfect location staying at Rakuyu. The room was beautiful the view overlooking the lake was picture perfect. The onsen was very clean and very relaxing. I would stay again.

Great service from all staff. Public onsen was beautiful and could be accessed privately late at night or during day (late morning/ early afternoon) and private onsen can be booked at reveption for 45 mins for 3300 yen. You are provided with slippers and a yukata for your stay as long as the usual amenities in your room. The breakfast, tea with cakes, and drinks reception with snacks daily was a lovely touch. Our room overlooked the beautiful lake kawaguchiko. Highly recommend this hotel and would stay again!

Lovely place - very spacious room that felt super luxurious after Tokyo. If you don’t mind walks or bike rides, it’s a great location with wonderful view of the lake. Fuji is not visible but we didn’t mind going out to catch views on clear days. Onsen was wonderful. Also the breakfast buffet was good and varied and the cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres were reasonably substantial. Staff were helpful. The shuttle from train station does not operate in the middle of the day which was annoying because lots of people arrive from Tokyo then and we could not get a taxi so had to walk with our bags about 1.5km. If an issue for you, don’t arrive in this window. Better yet, the hotel will read this and change this policy :)

The service is excellent and the lobby is impressive. We also very much enjoyed the traditional breakfast!! The view of the lake from our room was stunning as well. The only downsides for us was that the Onsen baths needed freshening up, the tiles showed water stains. Also the en-suite bathroom was old and showed signs of mold. We noticed an odor in our room when the heat was not running so we had to leave the window open for some fresh air.

Service was excellent and the breakfast and happy hour was the best I have ever experienced in this price range. The only downside is the location on a hillside and the walk up the hill is pretty steep and not for anyone too elderly.

Wonderful hotel, everything we could ask for. Great room with view of the lake, private onsen, and comfy beds. Great public onsen, and access to a lounge for free breakfast, drinks and food throughout the day. Staff were great, including transfers to the local train station. All fantastic.

The service the staff provided was absolutely phenomenal. The shuttle was actually free from 2-9pm during the day so even if the hotel was at the top of the hill it wasn't too much of a hassle going out to spend our day. The onsen was beautiful and definitely recommend getting the breakfast here!

We have 3 rooms for our family. 2 rooms was nice and modern. The one with onsen was old. It has a musky smell. Good breakfast, but has no dinner. Overall, this place is ok.

Beautiful views and at walking distance to funicular, the Ryokan was clean and had a gorgeous view of the lake as advertised. The Onsen were well attended, very clean and peaceful. The lounge was very nice, had plenty of food and variety. My only complaint is that the staff doesn’t inform guests of available tours - there was one tour available to stargazing and we did not find out until the next morning when we were leaving for example, they have no dinning recommendations and don’t seem too happy to come pick you up with the shuttle, kind of frowning and upset, they don’t even greet you.

My stay at Hotel Rayuku was simply amazing. Everything was perfect—from the warm and attentive service provided by the staff to the excellent food that exceeded expectations. The views from the room were breathtaking, and everything was spotless and perfectly organized. Surrounded by beautiful nature, the hotel offers a peaceful atmosphere that makes the whole experience unforgettable. Without a doubt, this is a place I would love to return to again.

Located at the top of a short, but very steep hill. They run a shuttle service to/from the train station though. Room was large and comfortable, and the views are wonderful. I would stay here again.

What an amazing hotel! From the moment we walking in we were amazed. The elegance and beauty of everything was breathtaking, the view alone was incredible. The only thing was during my second night whoever was staying above me wouldn’t stop stomping their feet and moving things around. I called the front desk multiple times and the workers told them to stop but they never did, it went on almost all night and even in the morning the next day. That was the only disappointment and it was caused by another guest. Overall 10/10 just hope you don’t have to deal with inconsiderate people like I did.

Great location, right next to the cable car. Nice view of the lake but can't see Mount Fuji. The public bath is so nice with the view of the lake. Wish the restaurant also has the same view!

A gorgeous view, a fantastic room that looked just like the online pics, and proximity to the cable car was a bonus. I only regret not staying longer. What a beautiful space with a very friendly staff; most speak enough English to answer questions. Just a beautiful place!

It was amazing great food very helpful staff shuttle service was very nice and helpful, I recommend downloading WhatsApp to call them as our phone service did not let us make calls. Staff helped with luggage shipping also which was great! English speak staff was great also. Rooms bueatiful onsen great!

The property was very clean and the rooms were spacious and well equipped. The Rakuyu service team was professional at all times and provided exceptional service as described in the booking. The shuttle driver was amazing and kind! And the Onsen was amazing! I’d like to come back and be able to just relax more at the hotel.

Hotel Rakuyu is excellent from all aspects for our vacation in Mt. Fuji. Location is great. The lake, mountains, boats and people display a living picture through the floor-to-ceiling window in any rooms. Within minutes of walk you can get to boat ride, sightseeing bus stops, bike rental, shops and Rope Way to an observation platform to get a nice view of Mt. Fuji. Hot spring bath runs overnight in the hotel. Breakfast is like a full meal. Snacks served from 3-5 pm daily. Then foods and wines served from 5-7 pm. Starting from booking the hotel, I received welcome message; until check out the hotel shuttle sending us to train station, we feel that the staff and services provided are genuine, detailed and heart warming. We highly recommend Rakuyu, and we would like to come again in future.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was amazing and the hotel was centrally located. The complimentary breakfast, cocktail hour and heavy appetizers were great! We had a wonderful time at Rakuyu and would highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel, everything we could ask for. Great room with view of the lake, private onsen, and comfy beds. Great public onsen, and access to a lounge for free breakfast, drinks and food throughout the day. Staff were great, including transfers to the local train station. All fantastic.

We loved our stay at Rakuyu! The property is clean with a restful and calming ambience. The lobby/front lounge area is beautifully appointed, with the most amazing view of Lake Kawaguchiko, also shared by the rooms. The public onsen seemed like a really nice amenity, but we did not use it as we booked the private one, which was a lovely experience. In addition, the included breakfast, tea time, and cocktail hr offerings were amazing! The food and drinks were great, with a ton of variety. The location is very convenient; it is right next to the Panoramic Ropeway and a short walk into town. We arrived within the time the shuttle was not picking up from the train station and did have to trek uphill to get there ourselves, but it is definitely doable, if not the most pleasant in late June heat and humidity. We were able to take advantage of the ride back to the station on our way out, which was quick and convenient. In short, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend to others as well as come back ourselves!

Hotel vieillot qui a besoin de rénovation, les chambres étaient cependant très grande et la vue sur le lac est magnifique. Contrairement à tous les hébergements où nous avons séjournés, l'employé de la réception n'a pas souri une fois, par un accueil à la hauteur du service du Japon.

Service was excellent and the breakfast and happy hour was the best I have ever experienced in this price range. The only downside is the location on a hillside and the walk up the hill is pretty steep and not for anyone too elderly.

Our ryokan and private onsen were absolutely beautiful and a much needed respite of countless steps while sightseeing during our time in Japan. The mattresses were comfortable and the view was beautiful. All amenities were provided including shampoo, conditioner, soap, face wash, face moisturizer, slippers, bath robes, tea, coffee, toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, and robes to wear around the property. The location is also central to the Mt. Fuji sightseeing ropeway, the sightseeing boat, Lawson, and local souvenir shops and restaurants. However, the hike up to the actual lobby is quite steep. Not recommended for anyone with difficulties hiking or with excess luggage. I recommend forwarding your luggage here directly or travel with just a backpack. The food was also pretty subpar which was disappointing.

Lovely place - very spacious room that felt super luxurious after Tokyo. If you don’t mind walks or bike rides, it’s a great location with wonderful view of the lake. Fuji is not visible but we didn’t mind going out to catch views on clear days. Onsen was wonderful. Also the breakfast buffet was good and varied and the cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres were reasonably substantial. Staff were helpful. The shuttle from train station does not operate in the middle of the day which was annoying because lots of people arrive from Tokyo then and we could not get a taxi so had to walk with our bags about 1.5km. If an issue for you, don’t arrive in this window. Better yet, the hotel will read this and change this policy :)

Hotel Rakuyu was great! We booked the traditional Japanese room which was a fun experience. The way they describe the food that is included with your stay is not like "dinner" they refer to it as small bites and drinks - however it is a FULL buffet. You absoluetely could only eat the food provided here and be full. They serve breakfast 7-9, snacks 3-5, and small bites and drinks 5-7 The hotel is on a huge hill, but we walked up and down it many times. They also have a walking path that takes you straight to the city vs the hill that takes you down more toward the water area. Overall would recommend. The views are lovely!!

Exceptional hotel! This was without a doubt the best hotel i stayed in throughout my trip to Japan. The staff are attentive. The food is brilliant. They also offer a free shuttle service to the station. The hotel and rooms are very clean. The onsen is perfect. The view is out of this world. The games room has a large range of activities and the roof terrace allows you to see all over the lake.
