Was a great stay at this great little inn. It may be a bit different than what most western guest expect to find, but I went for the Ryokan experience and was not disappointed. Staff were really great, helpful in scheduling transport to the monkey park and to the train station. Room was clean, good size, and had everything I needed. The town itself is a cute little village and it was a great experience going to all 9 baths in the town. The baths themselves could use a bit more attention... some were in need of a good cleaning. But regardless it was a unique and fun experience to walk around town in a Yakuta and hop from bath to bath. Make sure to get your souvenir towel stamped at each one!

We had such an amazing experience here. Great place in this charming village of Japan. We’ll definitely come back.

The ryokan is in the perfect location for wandering around Shibu Onsen and is right next to all the public baths. They provide a shuttle service to and from the local train station in Yudanaka and a free shuttle to the Monkey Park. They have a breakfast menu and serve dinner on some nights but not all, so be prepared to find your own food in the town. Note that the food options can be limited as many places have varying opening hours. The Ryokan is traditional, the rooms are big and clean and you make your own beds. They provide yukata and everything you need to enjoy the public onsens. There are shared bathrooms and limited shower facilities. Gendered bathrooms are on different floors, you may not have a bathroom on your floor. The ryokan has many rooms and gets quite busy so book your shuttles early. The staff were wonderful and speak excellent English. The Ryokan was excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience this delightful town without spending a fortune on accommodation.
