Superb location with coastal views in a well kept building. Excellent and plenty of free car parking. Food including breakfast of a very good standard. Rooms clean, comfortable and well maintained. All staff extremely friendly. Bar facilities and outdoor seating very good. Spa facilities on site. A good 20mins walk up hill from the harbourside. There is a bus service that stops a 10mins walk away.

We enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay. The views and walks from the Headland Hotel were fantastic. The weather was good so sitting out on their patio area with gray views and a G&T was wonderful. All the staff were pleasant and friendly. Will definitely be returning

This is a great getaway hotel. It's just outside Torquay with views out over the bay and around the corner from meadfoot. The hotel has a mini spa which is perfect for unwinding. Proper full breakfast in restaurant with views over the bay.

Staff were lovely, property showing signs of wear and tear. Otherwise nice property. Found lighting was too bright in the entertainment areas, thus not giving that cosy feeling.

The hotel is beautiful. The reception area, restaurant and bar area are modern, clean and comfortable. The staff are all lovely and friendly however, the heating wasn’t working the first night and I had to sleep in a hoody because the room was freezing. Even though we paid for breakfast and evening meal, we still had to pay £10pp extra for each visit to the pool. It isn’t a swimming pool, it is 3 separate hydrotherapy pools. The jacuzzi is as filthy. My husband and I climbed in, as 2 others got out and the water dropped a little it revealed a brown scum line. We then noticed the foam on top of the water was brown. I then got out, went back to my room to shower having spent 10 mins max in there for £10. My husband paid for a massage for the both of us. I would have paid not to have one. I was left questioning if the therapist was even qualified. It was THE most horrific experience. The receptionist was fantastic. The food was incredible. The location is great. It’s just a shame these few things let it down so much. If you pay extra for a superior room, and don’t use the spa I truly believe you’ll have the most amazing stay.

The booking in at recption was excellent. The bedroom clean.comfy bed.good shower pressureand hot as required.breakfast was very good..a tip book breakfast with room cheaper than at hotel booking. Based on reviews and a quick check of the hotel website we had high hopes of a clean tidy hotel. On arrival all was seemingly well until we entered the room. Overall the room just seemed a bit tired and in need of a little love. The dated bathroom was damp smelling with dirty splash marks around the sink from the previous guests. There was a thick layer of dust around carpet edges and corners where it may have taken a little more time to clean. The coffee cups were adhered to the drinks tray with sticky runoff from the previous attempt at a rinse and the spoons were stuck inside the bottom of the cups with sticky mess. As the booking was made through a third party there was a charge for using the spa. This was not indicated anywhere in the hotel info on the third party sites. The hydropools were a little tired and the locker doors were missing so no facilities to safely store your belongings.

We booked this hotel as a last mimute thing for a surprise weekend away for a burthday.The hotel was spotless. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel had some amazing views and lovely gardens. We didn't get to use the spa as only there from a Saturday to Monday so can't comment on that, both the restaurant and galaxy lounge were lovely. Good food. Overall a really lovely hotel and we will definitely be returning.

Large building hidden atop of hill at the end of a cul den sac with fantastic views looking at onto the ocean as you walk out of the reception. A quick walk up the steps outside the front of the hotel and you can see for miles out on the sea front. Hotel itself well looked not a 4 or 5 star but good if your on a budget the rooms are basic but clean. The bar restaurant area is probably the best most up-to-date modern part of the hotel. Well stocked bar and I didn't eat any of the set menu but had a drink in the bar which was fine and I did notice some entertainment going on as I went out in the evening. Good views at the front not so much around the rest of the hotel and I only had the most basic single room. Hotel is 5-10 minute walk down to the shops and bars depending on how fast you can walk and a small marina area where boats are moored. I visited in the winter still plenty going on but not many tourists about in January.

Excellent value for money- everywhere was spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to have a great sea view( though not booked). Evening meal in the bar and breakfast were excellent. All staff very friendly. The hotel is positioned in a fantastic spot overlooking the bay with great views from the hotel . Short walk down to Meadfoot Beach.

First appearance, the hotel looked okay but also needed some TLC inside and outside. The bedroom although looked clean, overall in places especially in the bathroom could do with a deep clean. The soap dispenser was not working and the TV remote definitely needed cleaning. The room was very warm and the thermostat on the radiator was not working, therefore we could not adjust the heating and the windows would only open slightly, which was deliberately set up that way. The bed was very soft and spongy definitely needed a new mattress. The spa area is definitely overpriced not worth the £10 charge. Whilst we were here the steam room and sauna was only lukewarm our bedroom was hotter. In the morning the breakfast was very good, good selection of items, very attentive service and a very pleasant view. Overall, not a bad hotel, but not great either.

A comfortable sleep is the primary objective for any hotel but these mattresses (both on the double and single in our room) should have been placed in the dump a few years ago. You could feel every spring and it rolled you to one side. The staff provided a duvet without a sheet to place over the mattress as the solution. I didn’t note there was no A/C as I took that as a given for a hotel near the beach, so a fan had to be requested from the barman as there was not a receptionist present at the desk when we attempted calling and then visiting. A real shame, as the building and location are great. They just need to reinvest in updating their facilities. Oh, and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work so that didn’t help with the heat in the room, as the windows barely opened.

I do like this hotel. Staff always nice and decent food & bar. Room itself was tidy and clean but window open when we arrived letting in the smell of food from the very loud extraction fan outside our window. Had to close window to keep out smell which made room pretty hot. Fan was pretty noisy throughout the stay though one gradually gets used to it.

Room itself was tidy and clean but window open when we arrived letting in the smell of food from the very loud extraction fan outside our window. Had to close window to keep out smell which made room pretty hot. Fan was pretty noisy throughout the stay though one gradually gets used to it.

A good restful stay. Really good location - walk down hill and get a taxi back up. Parking a slight issue but not a deal breaker. Rooms need updating but it is a standard seaside hotel. Best part of this hotel is the views - they are top notch.

First appearance, the hotel looked okay but also needed some TLC inside and outside. The bedroom although looked clean, overall in places especially in the bathroom could do with a deep clean. The soap dispenser was not working and the TV remote definitely needed cleaning. The room was very warm and the thermostat on the radiator was not working, therefore we could not adjust the heating and the windows would only open slightly, which was deliberately set up that way. The bed was very soft and spongy definitely needed a new mattress. The spa area is definitely overpriced not worth the £10 charge. Whilst we were here the steam room and sauna was only lukewarm our bedroom was hotter. In the morning the breakfast was very good, good selection of items, very attentive service and a very pleasant view. Overall, not a bad hotel, but not great either.

Staff all friendly and helpful without any prompting. Interior looked modern and fresh looking . A nice quiet location with good view. Free parking and WiFi everything easy and more than I expected for the price I paid . The spa was great clean and a good experience. Good breakfast the only thing I would say is needs more than one coffee machine a bit slow if others in front but great coffee. The lighting in my room was too bright with no table lamp but was quickly rectified by the room service lady within 5 minutes amazing . Will visit again worked for me who is generally quite fussy person who never really finds a room that totally suits. It was a budget last minute room may upgrade a bit next time the slightly better rooms looked spot on . Thanks for a comfortable problem free stay I may even come with someone else next time . Would recommend to give it a try whatever age range .

We booked this hotel as a last mimute thing for a surprise weekend away for a burthday.The hotel was spotless. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel had some amazing views and lovely gardens. We didn't get to use the spa as only there from a Saturday to Monday so can't comment on that, both the restaurant and galaxy lounge were lovely. Good food. Overall a really lovely hotel and we will definitely be returning.

Good for Room 181. Very BAD for Room 147. Overall the Hotel is not bad. Located in a convenient location, walking distance to high-street. Hot spa for only £10 per person. I've booked 2 rooms. One is clean and tidy, the other is noisy and dirty. The room seems on top of the kitchen with hot air coming up. The staff rejected my request for changing room. She said that the hotel was fulled. At the end, she only provided a fan on request.

Superb location with coastal views in a well kept building. Excellent and plenty of free car parking. Food including breakfast of a very good standard. Rooms clean, comfortable and well maintained. All staff extremely friendly. Bar facilities and outdoor seating very good. Spa facilities on site. A good 20mins walk up hill from the harbourside. There is a bus service that stops a 10mins walk away.

Large building hidden atop of hill at the end of a cul den sac with fantastic views looking at onto the ocean as you walk out of the reception. A quick walk up the steps outside the front of the hotel and you can see for miles out on the sea front. Hotel itself well looked not a 4 or 5 star but good if your on a budget the rooms are basic but clean. The bar restaurant area is probably the best most up-to-date modern part of the hotel. Well stocked bar and I didn't eat any of the set menu but had a drink in the bar which was fine and I did notice some entertainment going on as I went out in the evening. Good views at the front not so much around the rest of the hotel and I only had the most basic single room. Hotel is 5-10 minute walk down to the shops and bars depending on how fast you can walk and a small marina area where boats are moored. I visited in the winter still plenty going on but not many tourists about in January.

Excellent value for money- everywhere was spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to have a great sea view( though not booked). Evening meal in the bar and breakfast were excellent. All staff very friendly. The hotel is positioned in a fantastic spot overlooking the bay with great views from the hotel . Short walk down to Meadfoot Beach.

The booking in at recption was excellent. The bedroom clean.comfy bed.good shower pressureand hot as required.breakfast was very good..a tip book breakfast with room cheaper than at hotel booking. The food was outstanding. We are in the bar area and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was delicious and a lot of choice. The evening entertainment was brilliant. The shower was terrible. We only stayed one night as we were attending a funeral so only used it once and we were in a hurry. At checkout, I mentioned that the shower needed attention as the water was barely flowing and that it was either scalding hot or ice cold. My cousin had ended up washing her hair in the sink. The receptionist was not really interested and said we should have called down and they would have sent someone up.

The views are spectacular, some areas of the hotel are dated , needs modernisation in rooms , we where there on a big family weekend , the set menu at dinner was not very good , a set menu price with very minimal quality most said its was ok , mine was inedible, very disappointing, set menu needs to be better quality and bigger portions, drinks where reasonable

Fantastic location, super clean, great staff and lovely food, only slight better if was the entertainment. There was a stand in lady with a guy playing the keyboards and the choice of songs was too depressing with not enough upbeat songs.

The Headland Hotel & Spa, Torquay - a mixed first impression, rescued by excellent staff. Our stay at The Headland Hotel was ultimately positive, but it began disappointingly. The hotel has a superb coastal location, a calm atmosphere and attractive facilities. The staff were also a real strength: friendly, attentive and willing to help. However, the room we were first given was on the basement level, beneath the kitchen/service area, with an outlook over a fire escape, extractor fans and an untidy bank of earth. For a hotel in such a beautiful setting, this felt well below expectation. To the hotel’s credit, reception and the Housekeeping Manager responded very well when we raised the issue the next morning. They listened, acted quickly and moved us to a much better room. That intervention genuinely rescued the stay and showed the hotel has people prepared to put things right. Parking is also worth noting. Although free on-site parking is advertised, spaces can be limited when the hotel is busy, making it difficult to park close by. Overall, we left with mixed but broadly positive feelings. The first room was not acceptable, but the way the problem was handled made a significant difference. With its location, facilities and excellent staff, The Headland has plenty going for it. My advice: check your room location when booking and be prepared for limited parking at busy times. Overall: 4/5 ⭐ - it could easily have been a 3, but the staff turned it around.
