TLH Derwent Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

Overall the stay was good, pools were nice, gym equipment was a bit dated, amenities were all great, not to far to walk to beach, friendly staff, breakfast was a bit basic, had to ask for crossant as they were not out on display and only found out they were available from another customer, prices for meals were a bit expensive, room was a bit of a trek to get to as we were on top floor but it was clean and spacious and we slept well as there were plenty of windows to open to let in the cool air, the fan was definitely appreciated

The hotel was clean but it is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade (but due to its size, that would be a major piece of work). The breakfast was great, the pools were great and there are plenty of different options for evening entertainment from the main hall to smaller pub areas. There is parking on site which can get busy but they have introduced a parking charge if you book through outside agencies such as Expedia of £10 per night. If you book with the hotel direct you don't pay this and that was a shock as the info wasn't on the Expedia site.

The entertainment at night and the dsco are really amazing and also with the spa and gym are great.i just dont like the lift because it's too small and it took so long by waiting. But, some staff are nice and some are mean.but, i still enjoyed it more specifically the entertainment and the disco at night and the SPA & Gym.

Lovely little weekend away hotel was nice enough not enough directions for places spar indoor out door pool ect .

This was my 2nd time at the resort, I have found it a great place to stay on my own for a mini break. A very reasonable price for all that is on offer. It's lovely to relax by the outdoor pool or go for a swim in the indoor pool (really nice temperature!). I've had a pedicure both times which is in a lovely relaxing spa area and the entertainment is great, love music, karaoke and disco all in one evening! The rooms have been perfectly comfortable, all round recommend!

It was a great stay, the kids had fun in the pool, and the breakfast in the morning was good too. Room service was nice and the staff were polite too. Parking wasn’t free but was right next to the hotel, overall a great stay.

Great hotel, idea location, good value - the pool and spa facilities are excellent. Will stay longer next time.

We had an interesting start with trying to find our parking spot, but reception were really helpful. On discovering the accessibility problems the hotel has, reception sent up an extremely helpful young man (Tommy), to help us access the hotel... he discovered our original room was actually acceptable and swiftly contacted reception and sourced a new room , sadly, although more accessible, the bathroom really wasnt. So Tommy to the rescue again and we finally had a suitable room which was very clean even though it was a bit dated, but the bathroom seemed brand new! We stayed in site for our entire 3 night stay and had a thoroghly wonderful time! We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner package and the spa was amazing! We hope to return with the children soon

Loved the stay. Room was good, spacious and warm. Bathroom was clean and nice water flow. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were a great fun. Food was enjoyable at the restaurant too.

This was our second stay at TLH, having previously stayed in the Victoria hotel. Breakfast was great, but it would've been nice if it was available a little later than 9:45 every morning. We didn't use the outdoor pool, but the indoor pools were superb, keeping the kids entertained for hours. Great location, just a few minutes walk to the beach and 15 minutes to Torquay town centre. The only gripe with this stay compared to the last was that the parking is now chargeable unless you hve booked direct with TLH. It was £10 per 24 hours. Other than that, everytjing was perfect.

Pool was top tier and close to the marina. Was expecting a bit better from staff and room. Very dated and could have been cleaner. Feel we over paid a bit for what the hotel

We attended with our family children, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The hotel was incredibly hot walking down the corridors. Walking into the room after a long journey with two children was a massive downer and if we weren't meeting other family members we would have likely left there and then. The room smelt musty, immediately noticed the room had not been cleaned properly in a while. The walls were covered in dust, crumbs and packets from the previous guests under the beds which just rolled around the room as the locks on the wheels appeared to not work, there looked like red blood on one of the bedside tables at the bottom and windows were not sealed that well at all. In the bathroom the shower curtain was mouldy, extractor fan was covered in so much old dust that when you turned it on the dust went everywhere! All over the bathroom sinks, bath, toilet it was grim! Immediately went to complain to the staff at the front desk who were really attentive, they came to view the room and told us they'd get someone to try to clean some of the dust whilst we all went to get some food for dinner. We didn't book the inclusive food package for the first night due to the cost, it would have been just shy of £100 for four people which given the quality of the food was steep so decided to go up to the Aztec Bistro bar/resteraunt. They had a sign saying no burgers, no steaks, no fish, etc so choices were very narrow and limited. Our children's dinner arrived, yet 20 minutes had passed t

Stayed in twin room at The Derwent. Mattresses need throwing out. Full of old creaky springs. Not fit for purpose. Housekeeping fitted mattress toppers on request which made beds useable but not good. Communal areas and pool lovely. Clean rooms.

Room clean and good amenities, dated but comfortable. Staff all lovely and helpful, good bar selection. Great variety at breakfast, just avoid the coffee

The housekeeping service was poor - no spare toilet rolls left either day the room was serviced. The extractor fan in the bathroom blew out air and dust rather than extracting it. The bathroom floor was grimy and needed a deep down clean. The bed was badly made and having to remake it the pillow underneath the pillow case desperately needed replacing.

We had a family room and it was on the 3rd floor, it was as though we had been forgotten, small narrow corridors, very hot no air con, chipped dirty paintwork, very old fashioned and dated. We had to report the broken shower and toilet twice before getting fixed and then the toilet wasn't.

I’m sorry but there were stains on the sheets,pubic hair in the shower and a brown rim at the bottom of one of the cups

Uneven floors that creaked in the bathroom with old sealant around the bath, claustrophobic corridors where only one person could pass and just a dated feel to the building. The full English breakfast was average which I had, I didn’t have anything else but the rest that was to offer looked fresh and nicely lauded out. I was told that someone would come ask if I had any special requests but nobody came. The hotel is a five minute walk down the hill from the beach which is great and a fifteen minute walk from town. Would I stay again? Probably not, I’d rather pay extra for something more modern. 5.5/10

The room, particularly carpet, was not very clean and decoration tired. It is really difficult to find one's way around thee hotel and the whole complex. Colour coded signage and far more of it would help. It's hard to take advantage of facilities when information is so poor.

The hotel was good staff very friendly. but the mattress was not the springs were sticking in your back.

The property itself was in good shape considering the age food in general was ok ….. as for the mattresses in the rooms it’s like sleeping on a rack from the Middle Ages…. Definitely need new or at least a mattress topper… I’d possibly return if the bedding was changed and was able to get a good deal.

Windows need to able to be open more than 3 inches to let in fresh air room to warm

Very noisy, and because my room was near the lift I could hear the lift talking all night! Its an old hotel and has alot of creaky floor boards too. I had to pay for parking which I was not made aware of until after booking, and the cost was £10 per night, which is expensive. Only plus was its near the beach, so easy to walk to.

The hotel has everything you would want for kids, the bed was terrible to sleep in as springs were poking out very cheap mattress, bathroom nice and clean,breakfast was ok plenty to choose from

Room was very dated, shower had no pressure so couldn’t wash hair. Lots of children running around the corridors.

Great staff could not fault them Bed was the worst I’ve ever slept in Shower nothing but just a dribble And needs a lot of work done to bring it up to modern standards. Will not be returning that’s for sure

Staff were great! I mentioned my mattress being uncomfortable and they did all they could be rectify it. A bit tired, but would stay again.

i liked the staff all very helpful and happy i booked this hotel mainly for entertainment for my children which in the daytime was late and also cancelled at short notice the pool was nice larger pool could be warmer gift shop needs longer opening hours as it closes mid day overall i would return

Great facilities, very friendly staff,family room was very spacious. The hotel could do with a lick of paint but overall a lovely stay.

Our stay at this property was exceptional! Our 5 year old developed an allergy to an ice cream that he ate and collapsed. Luckily, the hotel has an internal emergency facility where all first aid trained staff attend an incident. They even have a defibrillator on site. My son was attended to without time wasted however, the emergency services were less helpful as they could not confirm if the ambulance was being dispatched! The hotel management also provided a taxi when the little one was discharged from the hospital emergency department. V grateful for your hospitality and care. We will return without hesitation.

I had discussed vulnerabilities of my disabled parents with TLH staff whilst booking and was assured that they would be well looked after, this was not the case. Inappropriate rooms were issued for disabled guests. Stairs up and down to either of the disabled room's. Arguing over the rooms with staff while my 86 year old farther stood by on his crutches for 30 minutes after travelling for 3 hours.

Stayed 3 nights. Staff friendly. Hotel worn around the edges but clean. Lots of entertainment if you like cabaret type singing etc. Breakfast buffet was basic but filling. However the young waiting staff at dinner need a bit of training with regards to behaviour around guests at the end of service as more interested in going home than ensuring we were ok. Was a rushed experience so best to get there early. All in all a decent hotel.

A lot of the hotel especially the room needs uodating and general maintenance. However we had a pleasant stay and the location was great.

Staff were good which always makes a difference. A short walk to the front and the town centre. Inside pools were very good, plenty of room to swim. Noisy at night with teenagers running around, a school trip, and traffic noise.

A place to be when you have kids and do not fancy to splash into the cold waters of the Riviera: the swimming pools at TLH are cool! And the one indoor is warm too. Conveniently located near the seafront, and lical gardens and Torre Abbey. Easy distance to churches, shops and restaurants. Food is ok but reasonably priced. Kids go free and we say Thank You. I appreciate the rooms NOT being serviced every day because guests must be responsible of keeping their space tidy anyway. The only 🚫🚫 is the lack of bins to differentiate trash: it's 2025 and a sustainable clean behavior must not go on holiday but be encouraged by adding due bins.

The food at the hotel restaurant (breakfast in particular) very repetitive, but the Bistro restaurant in the hotel had way much better food, highly recommend the Bistro! Overall we had a pleasant stay and planning to return in the future.

We had a lovely stay in Derwent hotel. We really enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool. The rooms were clean but need a upgrade. We enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant. The breakfast was fine but need to include more choices.

The bedrooms are a bit dated.The waste bin in our room could do with a wash or maybe throw away ,it’s disgusting. Hotel clean and tidy .pools are fab along with the entertainment. Personally wouldn’t pay for the evening meal ,not worth the money.breakfast good . Aztec bistro is the best but they ran out of food on Saturday evening so we had to get a take away! Would definitely come back

We enjoy our stay we was a family of 4 the room was little Small but was clean very nice breakfast and we enjoy the night entertainment. We enjoyed and we would come back.
