Great staff. Meant mostly for younger people. If you can’t do a steep flight of stairs you should avoid this one. We are seniors but were able to negotiate the stairs. If you don’t love listening to crooners, avoid Thursday which is karaoke night. For what we paid we were satisfied. Right in town and a short walk to the main street was a bonus.

Nice and very functional private room. Kodiak Lounge porch was a fun place to mingle with other guests. Staff was very helpful helping my friend stow his bulky motorcycle gear in a convenient secure spot. Nice having a little fan available in the room especially if it were in the heat of summer.

You have your hostel advertised as a hotel. $150/night for a hostel is an absolute joke and total rip off. No parking on site (except across the road on a busy road). The room was INCREDIBLY hot and the only way to get fresh air is to open windows with open access to anyone to crawl into your room (not ideal as a female travelling alone).

Great spot, clean and overall good value for money. Great for meeting people as it has a large gaming room with a shared kitchen, pool table, etc. Rooms are on the smaller size but the setup with the bunk bed works great. The place can be somewhat noisy until 11pm.

Our room was not cleaned from the last visitor and it was obvious. Beds were not made, garbages weren't taken out, used soap bar in the shower, stained sheets with what looked like a blood stain. There were other minor things but its not a big deal because each hotel is unique but if I cannot get a clean room upon arrival that is unacceptable. I hope nobody else has to arrive to a room like this

Overall I enjoyed our stay at the hostel- we stayed in a four bed family room, which was clean (as was the rest of the hostel) beds and bedding were comfy, and the kitchen contained what we needed to make meals. The location is within walking distance of some shops, cafe’s, restaurants. Unfortunately the family pod we stayed in was super hot throughout the night, as I assume the other family pods are as well. +28 Celsius our first night, the small fan in the room provides little relief on its own, and I found keeping the door and window open cooled the room slightly, but, even though the other guests never made me feel unsafe, I just prefer to have a closed door while sleeping, especially with kids in the room also.The temperature was not bearable with the room closed though. For the second night I bought an extension cord, propped the fan in the slightly opened door, barricaded with a chair because that made me feel better and the fan brought in enough cool night air that made the room comfortable for sleeping.

With the area, it’s is understandable for the price and facilities. However, safety is my biggest concern and that’s the reason I book for private room, it isn’t really private tho when the w window which facing the hall can be open from both inside and OUTSIDE. Also, I do apologize if this is wrong but looks like there’s one key for all the rooms since it can be used to open the hallway door as well. Another thing is I hope they care more about cleanliness, maybe it’s because I have high expectation for the cleanliness, but it doesn’t that clean as people been reviewing.

Enjoyable game room. Very hot in the rooms on the second floor. No A/C, no screens in windows, few electrical receptacles, inoperative fire detectors. Would not recommend anyone to sleep here.

Overall I enjoyed our stay at the hostel- we stayed in a four bed family room, which was clean (as was the rest of the hostel) beds and bedding were comfy, and the kitchen contained what we needed to make meals. My stay for 2 days was very enjoyable. My only concern was that they double booked my pod. I had to switch rooms which was inconvenient. Also the bar on premises advertises its open until midnight. To my surprise after coming back from dinner around 1030, i was surprised to find the bartender closing for the night an hour and half early. For patrons staying at the lodge i found it disapponting that they chose to close so early. I would definitely go back regardless

The customer service was not good. I booked, the check in time said 4pm, check out 10am. We got to the property and there was a sign on the door said check in closes at 10pm. Looked on the booking and the fine print at the bottom said check in ends at 11. We got there and couldn’t check in, we had to go book another hotel 45mins away. They wouldn’t give any refund at all. Terrible experience. We didn’t stay, their rules are so unclear and no budging. They just took the money and told us too bad. Don’t stay here. Lots of other places.

As a senior couple we had lots of stairs to manage with our luggage. The room was small and the bed was not so comfortable. We had a hard time finding the hostel in the first place. Address said 5th Strret but it was at 9th Street. A nice gentleman on his bike helped us to find it.

This was our first time staying in a hostel. We stayed on the private room side as well as the family room side. It is a very unique place thats for sure. Very snowboarding vibes. If you are into fancy hotels this is not your place. I am rating this a five star experience becasue of the price point. First of furmost the staff is very kind and amazing. Everyone is in great spirirts and make you feel like you belong there. Yes this place needs to be updated but we stayed at this place for two nights for the price of one any where else. The kitchen downstairs has everything you need. You can also put your items in the fridge. No it does not have any breakfast options but if you pack your food it works great. We had no problems with cleanliness. Yes the rooms do not have AC. We just opened the window and let the breeze roll in. It is a bit of a party place but at the end where we were staying it was pretty quite for the most part. I have stayed at fancy hotels where the noise was much much worse. Even the guests were very friendly. Would this be my choice to stay in Fernie again? You bet!
