The Shipyard - Angra

Decent modern hotel in walking distance to the city center. Spacious rooms ideal for families with kids. Unfortunately the air condition didn't work very well, neither in the room nor in the fitness area (which was comically small, very hot and lacking basic equipment). Must also warn that the breakfast is really bad for this type of "fancy" hotel. Even the simplest dishes like omelette and scrambled eggs tasted like paper.

Very modern, everything is electronic. Clean, simple, and pleasant design. The rooms have a facade of fake mirrors that are not very useful/functional. Despite the first photo on Expedia being of a pool, we were told there is no pool. Convenient location, very walkable, and has the only Michelin star restaurant on the island.

Second time here. We enjoy this property very much. Modern and clean. Close to downtown, waterfront and Monte Brazil. Very nice staff. Good breakfast. Even a small gym! We can walk to everything we need.

This hotel is a great location with an 8 minute walk to the center of the city. Walking along the harbor avoids most hills except a large set of stairs to go up and down. Parking is included underground in the building which is great. It would have been hard to navigate the narrow streets in the city center to get in and out with a car. The staff were very helpful with taxi’s restaurant reservations and tour drivers. The breakfast room was nice and the food served was good and fresh. The rooms were modern and clean. The only thing I would note is that our room smelled very musty throughout. Our family member’s room next door did not have this smell but instead would get an occasional sewer smell. There had just been a lot of rain so I don’t know if this played a role or if it is always like this. Regardless, we would still recommend this hotel and had a great time in Angra. Such a beautiful city

We loved everything about our stay. The staff was also courteous and accommodating. The location is great because it is walking distance to where the majority of shops and restaurants are but still quiet at night. Parking our rental car was easy with a garage below the hotel. Lastly, our room was a good size and included a kitchenette and breakfast at the hotel each morning was amazing.

The one-bedroom apartment with pull-out couch was perfect for our family of four. Spacious room, very comfortable beds, deck for drying our swim gear, free on-site covered parking, and delicious array of foods at the complimentary breakfast each morning. Great location in Angra, walkable (for those able-bodied) to the main town areas for shops, restaurants, the forts, churches, waterfront, beach, and more. Staff was friendly and we were so appreciative that they were able to allow us an early check-in after our overnight flight. That early afternoon nap saved the first-day exhaustion and allowed us to enjoy the rest of the day.

Moderne und grosse Zimmer mit Küche, ideal für längere Aufenthalte. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Auch die Tiefgarage war praktisch. Leider funktionierte die Klimaanlage nicht, daher wurde es tagsüber sehr heiss im Zimmer. Leider konnte das Problem auch nach 1 Woche nicht behoben werden. Das Frühstück ist gut, einzig das Personal war teils etwas unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Auch Abendessen würden wir eher extern empfehlen. Zu teuer und Qualität ist nur ok. Da gibt es Besseres in Angra. Das Gym ist winzig und es stank sehr im Raum.

The Shipyard is perfectly located close to the marina and all the main attractions in Angra (close walking distance to all the great restaurants and shop). Parking was very easy, the property was immaculately clean, the staff were incredibly friendly. The breakfast was a full breakfast with many options. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I hope to come back soon!

The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing and the rooms were very clean. The beds were also incredibly comfortable! If we ever venture back to Terceira, we will for sure be staying at The Shipyard!

The staff was nice. Our room was huge with a living room and kitchen and a nice bathroom. It was clean and well maintained. The location was okay, we could have done better in town. I thought we would have a nice view, but the hotel isn’t oriented to look at the water. Our room had a terrible view of a parking lot, felt very creepy. There is a free parking garage which is great. The breakfast is okay, but the quality of breakfast made us avoid eating at the restaurant for any other meals. The air conditioning isn’t really very functional. They have units mounted on the wall, but they don’t put out much cool air. We opened the the windows at night to cool the room off. Overall a just okay experience.

Beautiful, comfortable hotel during our stay in Angra. The rooms were large, very clean, and the halls were quiet. We were also able to check in several hours before the official time since we took an early mornjng flight to Terceira. We found that parking around town was rather difficult, and it was great to have the underground parking to leave the car at the hotel and wander the town and marina on foot. No negatives to report, will recommended this to anyone looking to visit!

This property was excellent. It is spacious . Very clean and most importantly safe . Close to downtown Angra, within walking distance. I would highly recommend this property . When I return I plan on staying at this property again. Oh one more thing the breakfast was delicious!!!

El hotel es muy bonito y céntrico. Tiene restaurante y bar por lo que si llegas tarde tienes servicio. La habitación es muy amplia y tiene salón con cocina. El único problema es que está en una calle donde hay tránsito y no para hasta la noche. Si tienes sueño ligero puede molestar un poco. Las habitaciones de la parte de atrás tienen ruido constante debido a las máquinas de refrigeración. El desayuno es excelente con productos muy frescos y variados.

The Shipyard is a ultra modern high tech hotel. We stayed in a suite complete with kitchen which was most useful. The room was large and airy. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The served breakfast had a large selection to suite every need. The hotel was great but if i had to find fault, the location is a bit far - 10 to 15 minutes walk - from town. Also the hotel is located in a commercial area with some run-down buildings in the vicinity. This modern hotel seems out of place. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend this property in spite of its location.

Hotel nuovo e dal design contemporaneo nel complesso gradevole. Posizione prossima al centro della cittadina. Colazione discreta ma senza pretese particolari. Il problema principale riscontrato ha riguardato la totale inadeguatezza dell’impianto di aria condizionata, la cui potenza è risultata del tutto inadeguata, per non parlare delle perdite di acqua che un intervento tecnico ha risolto solo per poche ore. Il caldo all’interno della camera, uno Studio al terzo piano, è risultato insopportabile specialmente di notte. Secondo quanto riferitoci il problema riguarda tutte le camere del terzo piano. L’hotel era pieno per cui non è stato possibile cambiare la camera. Nessun vantaggio per status VIP.

Really stylish decor, clean and comfortable hotel with very spacious suites. Stayed on the 2nd floor in a 1 bedroom apartment and loved it. Super convenient to have a full suite including a living and dining area. There are food trucks just down the street so easy to bring food back to the suite. Loved this hotel and the staff were great. Breakfast and parking included which is a bonus. The downside to this property is the view from the large balcony isn't great, and unfortunately when someone in another suite is cooking, all their food smells vent through the cooktop vent in our suite! It wasn't pleasant so not sure how the venting was constructed! These items wouldn't change my 5 star review. This hotel is wonderful and would stay here again for sure.

We loved this hotel! We were travelingin with our children, and this was our first hotel on the trip. Really cool vibe, room was really spacious, and loved the pullout couch for the kids so we could have our own space. Restaurant and bar was wonderful, and the buffet breakfast was outstanding. Location was great, we were a 10 minute walk from the harbor, and easy walking distance to squares, restaurants, and sites. And really loved the free parking in the garage under the property. Highly recommend, would return for another stay.

I arranged my airport transportation directly through the hotel, and everything went smoothly—the driver was waiting for me right on time both on arrival and departure. At check-in, I was informed that the 20% roundtrip airport transfer discount listed on Expedia was an error and none of the rooms see the ocean. But the spacious layout and thoughtful amenities—hot plate, microwave, kettle, kitchenware, and mini fridge made up for the parking lot view. (The Studio-style rooms are located on the top floor that you see in the photos) The hotel’s location is excellent—walking distance to everything in the heart of Angra. It’s a perfect choice for couples or families who appreciate a bit more space or want the option to prepare simple meals between dining out. The included continental breakfast offers a variety of options, and you can order eggs fresh to your liking. Since this was a working trip, I had prepaid for dinners, and that turned out to be the highlight of my stay. The meals were delicious and full of flavour, & the chef was kind enough to make a few accommodations for me. Most of all, I want to thank the incredible restaurant team at A Oficina - Brandon, João, Letícia, and Cristiana made every meal feel warm and welcoming with their friendly service and genuine hospitality. They truly made my experience!

We have just stayed for 4 nights. It's important to note if you choose this hotel to pay extra for rooms on the 3rd Floor that have a view. Our room 207 overlooked a commercial vehicle car park. It was very depressing. The hotel was full so couldn't change rooms. The darkness was compounded by poor lighting in the rooms including the bathroom. Air-conditioning was a little weak. Breakfast is good, but ordering the hot food and Coffee was sometimes slow. The barman in the evening was excellent. The hotel is in a nice location and a short walk to the supermarket and the Canadhina restaurant was a fun locals place to eat.

This property is beautifully designed. The rooms are spacious and well designed. The location is walkable to the area attractions. Bruno was so gracious and welcoming. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I would stay here again.

The Shipyard Angra was an amazing place to stay and explore the island of Terceira from. There is a spacious garage underneath the hotel where we parked our rental car. The room was amazing, they upgraded us from a studio to an apartment, so nice! Spacious, with sitting area, a kitchen and a separate bedroom with a comfortable bed and automatic curtains. There were robes in the bathroom and rituals soap. The staff was very nice and helped us arrange a whale watching tour. Breakfast was delicious and there was a lot of variety to choose from. At the end of our stay, they even gave us a late checkout!

All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Lots of nice touches: the welcome pastry, the awesome free breakfast, they even packed us a lunch for our departing flight! And parking was great

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt, aber haben dennoch einige Kritikpunkte. Die Zimmer waren stilvoll eingerichtet und sauber. Das Frühstück war lecker, aber hätte etwas mehr gesündere Optionen, wie z.B. frisches Gemüse haben können. Beim Service gibt es ebenfalls noch Luft nach oben. Vor allem beim Frühstück hat es teilweise gedauert, bis man jemanden gefunden hat, bei dem man Kaffe&Eier bestellen konnte. Enttäuscht waren wir außerdem darüber, dass im Badezimmer zwar wiederbefüllbare Spender von Rituals aufgestellt waren, zumindest Seife und Duschgel aber offensichtlich nicht von Rituals waren (orange Farbe, anderer Geruch). Preis-Leistung passt hier nicht ganz zusammen.

Beautiful hotel and comfortable rooms. Two bedroom apartment had a massive deck with a view of the ocean. Staff went out of their way to be helpful, including setting up airport transportation and making up the sofa bed before a late night arrival. Staff responded nearly immediately to messages. Short walk to the center of town. Continental breakfast was adequate, though a little slim on protein options.

Beautiful hotel, unfortunately that’s where the pleasantries end. Customer service was absolutely horrible and I was accused of taking the access card. Firstly, no use of a plastic card, and secondly, only received one. Asked for early check-in, felt like such an imposition. AC in the room didn’t work, was so hot and stuffy. Night clerk was very rude and made it appear that I was inconveniencing him when I needed to leave. It’s 2024, get card access after hours. Overall, horrible customer service.

They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 11am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The service was exceptional as well.

Absolutely excellent hotel. Modern, very attentive and pleasant staff, convenient location, free underground parking, even curtains operating on buttons. Very good breakfast but no hot meal options. We have tried the restaurant and found it good but more expensive than it is worth. Restaurants in downtown are better value, but if you are tired at the end of a busy day then absolutely go and dine right on the property.

It was very depressing. The hotel was full so couldn't change rooms. The darkness was compounded by poor lighting in the rooms including the bathroom. Air-conditioning was a little weak. Breakfast is good, but ordering the hot food and Coffee was sometimes slow. The barman in the evening was excellent. The hotel is in a nice location and a short walk to the supermarket and the Canadhina restaurant was a fun locals place to eat.

Moderne und grosse Zimmer mit Küche, ideal für längere Aufenthalte. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Auch die Tiefgarage war praktisch. Leider funktionierte die Klimaanlage nicht, daher wurde es tagsüber sehr heiss im Zimmer. Leider konnte das Problem auch nach 1 Woche nicht behoben werden. Das Frühstück ist gut, einzig das Personal war teils etwas unfreundlich und unaufmerksam. Auch Abendessen würden wir eher extern empfehlen. Zu teuer und Qualität ist nur ok. Da gibt es Besseres in Angra. Das Gym ist winzig und es stank sehr im Raum.
