Hotel Don Cándido

The good ratings are just related to Delia, the most attentive (and competent) receptionist I have ever encountered in my trips. The hotel is basic and dated, no air con so not good for summer. Breakfast is average and the walls are paper thin. Also, the lack of private parking adds stress as you never know where you will find space. The studio was conformable and well equipped. Recommended if you plan just to sleep there as well placed for a quiet night.

Nice, quiet accommodation, friendly staff. The room was well equipped, there was even a small fridge. Access from the main road and the beach is via many steps and a steep incline, so it is recommended primarily for young people or those traveling by car. It is very difficult to find parking around the hotel in the evening, so we think it is worth returning before 6 pm. We were locked out on the terrace once, only with the help of the staff did we manage to get back to our room, luckily it was not at night. It would be worth installing rubber dampers on the room doors, so that the doors would not slam loudly at night. Otherwise, the accommodation suited us perfectly.

Excellent value - very clean, comfortable and friendly, with all facilities you could need. It is a walk from the main town centre, and the hill is steep, so need to be mobile, or happy to use taxis. But the walk is worth it as the location is peaceful. Reception area and stairs are all stone/marble so noise does travel - especially to ground floor rooms. And walls are thin too, so occasional interrupted sleep. Nothing too dramatic though. But with good facilities, clean rooms, attentive staff, lovely roof sun terrace and a pool the Don Candido is excellent value for money and would definitely choose again.

Excellent budget hotel offering very affordable rooms, some with comfortable queen size beds, friendly and efficient service, small pool and a very good buffet breakfast for only 7.5 euros. The facilities are fairly basic and parking is limited in a residential cul-de-sac but it had everything you need at an outstanding value.

This is a great little place. It's a small, quiet hotel. Our room had a queen bed and bunkbeds, large bedroom and a balcony with tables, chairs and a clothes airer. We stayed over Christmas so the room wasn't cleaned as often as usual but it didn't matter. There was an abundance of towels and a fridge which was really handy for drinks. Found it odd there was no soap so we bought some. There is a small swimming pool (cold water) and an area with chairs/tables/loungers but the sun never reaches the pool area. The seating area around the front does get the sun. You can order breakfast the night before for 7euros but we didn't do this so can't comment on that. It's up a very steep hill, we walked it a couple of times but it was only 4euros for a taxi from the centre so we did that mostly when returning at night. Walking down into town took just over 10 minutes and from there you can wander to the port/old town, beaches, bars/restaurants, Loro Park (well worth a visit!) etc. We had a hire car (which we didn't really need) and it could be tricky finding a parking space sometimes. Only real criticism was the showerhead needs fixing but we managed (and should have told them but never got round to it). Overall, we can't fault the place, it was fantastic value for money when compared to other hotels and we would stay there again. If you're looking for safe, basic and clean as a base, rather than fancy hotel you'd stop at all day, this is the place for you.

Nice little quiet place with it's own little pool in the shade. Close to car rental and walking distance to the beach and busy areas. Staff very easy going and welcoming. Feels very private. Walls are not very thick - you can hear neighbours, but that's about it. Thanks

Nice hotel in a quiet cul-de-sac. Really friendly staff. No AC in the rooms just a ceiling fan, which wasn’t good enough tbh. Needs a little updating however you get what you pay for.

Un hôtel idéalement situé dans un quartier calme de Puerto de la Cruz. Le stationnement est par contre assez compliqué (nous avons dû tourner plusieurs fois pour trouver une place). Pour le prix payé (bien moins cher que les hôtels autour), la chambre nous convenait parfaitement et le personnel était très accueillant et prêt à rendre service. Nous recommandons.

Vi ankom kl. 9.00 om morgenen og havde ikke sovet hele natten, der var ingen mulighed for at få værelset før kl. 15.00, der var ingen elastik, om natten havde vi oversvømmelse på værelset fra toilettet, ingen mulighed for et andet værelset, vandet blev stoppet men vi kunne ikke bruge toilettet, en af dagene havde de glemt at lægge håndklæder ind, så vi måtte tørre os i bademåtten. Vi har fået en gang morgenmad som kompensation. Hotellet ligger oppe ad en stejl, stejl ond bakke, så det er svært at komme gående dertil.

Netter Empfang. Zimmer schlicht eingerichtet mit Deckenventilator. Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Für zwei Nächte in Ordnung.

Not a bad hotel to stay if I’m honest, I was shown a balcony on my booking when I booked a room but turned out I was put down stairs which was annoying, the pool was full of dead insects and leaves and other bits which put me off going into to it so I decided to go elsewere or even go swimmming in the sea. The area the hotel is in seems abit rough buildings look like there falling apart, swings missing off the park. The staff was friendly especially a young lad that worked there. He always asked if I needed anything but the other staff kept talking to me in Spanish when I told them a few times I don’t speak Spanish. My room was cleaned everyday apart from the weekend and the pool was closed on Sunday after it had been cleaned so again I had to go out of my area to sit by a pool which was annoying. Breakfast was great I won’t lie! Good coffee machine and juice machine, the food was always fresh, always had different food each day and a lot of choice.

El personal muy atento y amable, la habitación limpia y muy confortable

La chambre n’était dans son jus, pas très bien isolé, les draps étaient tachés, ce qui ternit un peu l’image. Le reste était très bien.

Nice hotel, quiet and clean but there was a funny smell in the bathroom when we first got there but if we kept the toilet seat down the smell went. A couple of my skirts went missing but other than that we enjoyed our stay.

La habitación tiene un buen tamaño pero esta antigua y los colchones muy incómodos

friendly, clean and not expensive little hotel placed a bit up from the town. Not far, ca 1km, but quite steep and not for all without a car. rooms comfortable, but thin walls. no aircondition, window 55Euroextra.

The double room was tiny...the bathroom just a box. Quite a change from the studio which was roomy by comparison. Had to book extra night so thought in staying in the same hotel.

Wir waren zufrieden. Schön war ein Kühlschrank im Zimmer. Betten waren bequem. Leider nur spanische Programme. Dünne Wände, laute Familie nebenan. Raucher unter uns, der Rauch zog direkt in unser Zimmer in der 1. Etage. . Frühstück ok, mehr aber auch nicht. Kaffee hat geschmeckt. Poolanlage klein, aber sehr bequem. Personal sehr freundlich. Man kann kein Luxus erwarten. Preis und Leistung war deshalb sehr gut.

¡Extraordinario! Es un hotel muy cómodo, con personal muy agradable, con un gran desayuno. Es realmente un hotel de 3 ó 4 estrellas. De los mejores hoteles que he estado - y he estado en muchos. Muy recomendable!

The first time a spent one night in the hotel one week before. On the second day of my second visit the otherwise very friendly receptionist woke me up and said by order of the chef I had to pay for the whole stay immidiatly. The TV and the main light didnt work, which I reported but nothing happened. You couldnt regulate the temperature of the shower, only rather hot water. The only good thing was the relatvily low price compared to the very high prices of the other hotels on the island

The staff was very hospitable and the ambience was welciming. The breakfast displayed all the essentials for a healthy nutritious meal.

No entiendo las malas reseñas de otros huéspedes, un hotel que por lo que por si precio, ubicación, atención, seguimiento, instalaciones... Y muchas más cosas está para quitarse el sombrero. Las chicas de recepción no pueden ser más atentas no amables, la limpieza muy buena, la cama super cómoda, las instalaciones pensadas al mínimo detalle para que no te falte de nada, cápsulas y demás productos en la máquina expendedora, microondas para uso personal por si quieres calentarte una cena y disfrutarla en la terraza como hicimos nosotros y por si fuera poco, habitación equipada con nevera, caja fuyy secador, yo sin duda si vuelvo a puerto de la cruz no dudaré en alojarme allí. A sido un placer y gracias chicas de recepción (rubia y morena) por vuestra profesionalidad. Me aloje del 24 al 27 de agosto de 2025

You get what you pay. It was clean, the staff was friendly and everything was fine. It was very cheap as well. Just don\'t expect to much from a 1* hotel. There is a pool and additional breakfest if you like. Just older people or disabled should be aware that you have to "climb a mountain" to get to the hotel.

A large double bed with a bathroom, and lovely balcony at the front. The ceiling fan was used, as there were a few hot nights. Pool area was clean and tidy, and sun loungers were comfortable. A short walk from town centre, and I would use it again.

Très bon rapport qualité-prix. Près d'un grand parc avec vue sur le Teide et pas si loin du centre-ville!

The hotel is located in a residential area so it is quiet & safe. Bus transport to all areas of island is located at nearby main road. Walking distance to town centre. If you don't want to walk back up hill to the hotel, take the frequent buses. Plenty of inexpensive cafes/restaurants near hotel. Highly recommended.

Most confortable madrass ever, and large bed. Clean hotel, nice room, and very friendly and helpful staff. The area where the hotel is located is safe and calm - parking on the streets around the hotel Is free, as the hotel advertises, but is very difficult at all times. The breakfast is a little basic- it would improve exponentially with a few fresh options (ex bread / fruit).

Eenvoudig maar prima hotelletje. Goede bedden, uitgebreid ontbijt voor weinig geld. Prijs/kwaliteit is heel goed.
