Pictures were looking nice on Expedia. However we got assigned a room on the first floor. The hallway and the room smelled moldy. The bed wasn’t comfortable and the WiFi didn’t work. After checkout, they first wanted to charge us double the price while we already paid the full amount through Expedia. After arguing they finally agreed it was alright. We still had to pay 600¥ for usage of the onsen. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very close to Yunessan. The hotel also has its own public bath. A bit of a vintage location with very friendly staff that are very accommodating to foreigners as well.

Loved the onsen and fitness room area, large spacious room and comfy traditional outfits to wear around. As mentioned in other reviews, don’t expect to eat without a reservation made days in advance— however there are a few options at Yannusen next door ( 5 min walk). Laundry wouldn’t dry in the dryer at all after 2 hrs, best to hang it up! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

仕事と途中地震で23時到着になってしまい迷惑をかけたがスタッフが気持ち良く対応してくれた。温泉が気持ち良かった。廊下や階段のカーペットの臭いが気になった他は概ね良かった。

Large comfortable room. Helpful staff. Good value for Hakone. Hotel is dated and needs a renovation but very clean and everything in room was in good working order. A bit removed from nearby town of Gora leaving either a 15-20 minute mountain walk or a local bus. Walk is downhill to town but a relatively challenging uphill walk back to hotel. Didn’t try restaurant at hotel. Had a room package only and strangely they offered no information on menu or pricing for their restaurant.

We stayed (a family of 4) one night to visit Hakone The hotel is very out dated, bed very uncomfortable, no dining options (which usually is not a big issue for us, but the resort is very secluded and hard to get to, so that was very frustrating when we finally got there and didn’t have any options to eat. Luckily Yunessun is a 5 min walk and there was still one restaurant open at that time). The onsen offers get great bathing options but needs a serious scrub and cleaning (probably hasn’t been done in a long time) The staff was very Friendly and helpful, and we had a great view from our room In summary probably some better options to stay in Hakone

What a nice retreat! We truly enjoyed this traditional hotel nestled in the mountains. Our room had an excellent view, and it was so peaceful, quiet, and private. We loved sleeping on the futon in the tatami room. Also, the bath/shower room was a treat. There is an on-site onsen which we used every day of the stay. This hotel is a bit far from amenities, and at the time of our stay, the restaurant was closed. We recommend walking the 5 minutes on the path to Yunnesun, where there is a ‘Family Mart’ for basic foodstuffs. Yunnesun, is an amazing experience and highly recommended. Take the shuttle bus from Gora Station to the hotel - it hits every major hotel, including this one, even though it’s not listed on the route. It begins late and ends early, so the Tozan bus works with the Hakone Free Pass (note that the bus instructions on the hotel website are for the local bus, which is not covered by the Hakone Free Pass). The place is in need of a bit of a decor update, but otherwise spotlessly clean. The staff don’t speak much English, but are very willing to help and are exceptionally polite. We felt welcome and would gladly stay here again.

I was traveling with my wife and two adult daughters. We had a family suite, with a main bedroom separated by a sliding-door screen from a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats, futon, and balcony. My daughters loved sleeping in the traditional room. The reception desk staff was very kind and accommodating, though we had some communication difficulties. We enjoyed the hotel's indoor onsen and proximity to the Hakone Outdoor Museum. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The lobby and corridors are a bit plain and dark.

I like the room size, that they explain how to operate the heater. They have a mini arcade there, swimming pool, gym. But, the heater stopped after some time while we were sleeping so we didnt sleep well due to the cold. I wasn't aware there was timer? The hot water flask/kettle is so small. The hand soap are bubbles/no soap. We end up using the bath soap to wash our hands. And so suprisingly, there was no bottled water given in the room. Please note their massage room, washing machine are dryer are chargable. You need to purchase a capsule pod (its not given/auto in the machine) The good thing is as its very far, the shuttle bus picked us up first before going to the other hotels. It is really far from bus stop or station. I disagree that its only 17 mins walk from hakone air museum. It is not.

The room was really spacious and provided us the option of having western and Japanese style room and we really liked it. We didn’t use the facilities because of lack of time but the hotel has pool and public baths. Location wise the hotel is a 10min walking from the bus stop (Hakone free pass) or 4 mins walking from the other bus line in Hakone. There aren’t many restaurants around so plan ahead as the only ones around closed around 8pm.

The place was fine, it's an older hotel with a lot of families staying there when I was there. The main issue was probably more with Expedia, not sure, I reserved a non-smoking room and they didn't have any so I got put in a smoking room. Kind of rough if you are a non-smoker, gave me a sore throat. The desk person said when you chose non-smoking it's only a preference not a guarantee. That's a bad policy.
The place was fine, it's an older hotel with a lot of families staying there when I was there. 4月3日から5日までお世話になりました。 3日の受付女性スタッフの方、歩いて行くと言ったら色々調べて案内していただき、ありがとうございました。 朝食時もスマホに夢中になっていたら、「霧がはれてきましたね！」と男性スタッフの方が空いた器を下げていただく際に声をかけていただき、さっきまで何も見えなかった景色が一変していて綺麗な景色を楽しめました。 癒しを求めて初めての一人旅でしたが、気さくな対応がとても居心地が良かったです。 お風呂はスパの方も良かったですが、内風呂でも窓があり、外の空気を感じられる2階のお風呂がゆっくりできて私は好きでした。お部屋での朝風呂も身体が暖まりました。 タオルの交換も嬉しかったです。 また利用させていただきます。

If you want a room with internet, find yourself another hotel, because stuff will be saying sorry and do nothing about it. I was spending time in the lobby doing my internet business instead of resting on my bed. There is nothing to eat around unless you booked your dinner 3 days ahead. We were eating food from the conbini. Other food restaurants are around 30 minutes away by foot and accepting only cash. Area is mountainous so you will be climbing the hills. Rooms are cute, in Japanese style, but convenience is a bit off. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

My daughters loved sleeping in the traditional room. The reception desk staff was very kind and accommodating, though we had some communication difficulties. I recently stayed at this hotel. It’s very old looking, it definitely needs upgrades. It’s also an onsen which is not mentioned and I found out through a review left by someone else. They charge an extra $6 for it regardless if you use it or not. It’s very far from the main town. The staff is not very forthcoming with hotel information, you have to ask. They have a restaurant in the hotel but you have to book 3 days in advance! Again this information was not provided to us. We were told when we tried to go for dinner around 5:30ish. And because this is far from civilization we had to go to the nearest Konbini and take a bus. Well the bus stops running around 620 pm. We had to walk back in the dark. The restaurant was not full, they could have easily taken us in but refused. For breakfast again we had to make reservations, they did not provide us with hours of operation (and I forgot to ask) we missed breakfast. But you know what they didn’t forget? To charge us for the reservation and I asked them to remove it as we never used it. They did. The customer service was lacking. I would not recommend. Get a hotel closer to town. Hakone has pockets of neighborhoods.

It is an old hotel but the staffs are very nice and helpful. We did not know there was a shuttle bus went to the hotel but the time was limited. We took the public bus with our luggages & walked on the narrow road. It was unsafe to walk on the narrow road with cars & buses passed by.

Large comfortable room. Helpful staff. Good value for Hakone. Hotel is dated and needs a renovation but very clean and everything in room was in good working order. A bit removed from nearby town of Gora leaving either a 15-20 minute mountain walk or a local bus. Walk is downhill to town but a relatively challenging uphill walk back to hotel. Didn’t try restaurant at hotel. Had a room package only and strangely they offered no information on menu or pricing for their restaurant.

What a nice retreat! We truly enjoyed this traditional hotel nestled in the mountains. Our room had an excellent view, and it was so peaceful, quiet, and private. We loved sleeping on the futon in the tatami room. Also, the bath/shower room was a treat. There is an on-site onsen which we used every day of the stay. This hotel is a bit far from amenities, and at the time of our stay, the restaurant was closed. We recommend walking the 5 minutes on the path to Yunnesun, where there is a ‘Family Mart’ for basic foodstuffs. Yunnesun, is an amazing experience and highly recommended. Take the shuttle bus from Gora Station to the hotel - it hits every major hotel, including this one, even though it’s not listed on the route. It begins late and ends early, so the Tozan bus works with the Hakone Free Pass (note that the bus instructions on the hotel website are for the local bus, which is not covered by the Hakone Free Pass). The place is in need of a bit of a decor update, but otherwise spotlessly clean. The staff don’t speak much English, but are very willing to help and are exceptionally polite. We felt welcome and would gladly stay here again.

We didn’t use the facilities because of lack of time but the hotel has pool and public baths. En general ha sido malo, la habitacion tenía cobijas manchadas y sucias, los sillones muy polvosos, el servicio de restaurante es ridículo, tienes que reservar 3 dias antes para comer, no hay restaurantes alrededor, es ridículo que no puedan vender alimentos a sus huéspedes sin una reservacion desde dias antes. Ni siquiera se ve lleno el restaurante para justificar la reservación. Como puntos buenos, la habitación es muy grande y tiene buena vista. El personal es amable y atento.

Loved the onsen and fitness room area, large spacious room and comfy traditional outfits to wear around. As mentioned in other reviews, don’t expect to eat without a reservation made days in advance— however there are a few options at Yannusen next door ( 5 min walk). Laundry wouldn’t dry in the dryer at all after 2 hrs, best to hang it up! Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Rooms very dated, water heater and room heating are clunky in terms of use. Onsen ok. If you going by public transport- get bus and get off at Ten-yu just a few mins walk.
