Nordic Inn

Beware of the bait and switch! The photos on the website show an exterior of the actual Inn - a two Storey hotel like structure. Not all of the rooms offered on the website are in this building. Unbeknownst to us, we reserved a premium suite that is not at the Inn. The four suite structure was at another location, which was a drive away. The building is constructed on a steep grade. The entrance is at street level, and all of the units are all below street level Our suite was on the fourth floor down, accessed by four flights of steep stairs - seventy steps total. The room description on the web site reads " not pet friendly, no elevator". The truth is, the room is not user friendly, and it should be clearly stated that it is four floors of steep steps down to reach the room. Two round trips to the car are 280 steps! We refused to stay in that room were moved to a room in the actual Inn building. The hotel declined to refund the dollar difference in rate between the two rooms as we booked through Expedia. We are negotiating with Expedia for recompense. All in all, our stay at the Inn was fine. The staff is excellent, and the standard hotel rooms are quite comfortable, as are the common areas. We liked the Crested Butte area, and will likely return, and would book a room at the actual Inn - not at one of the ancillary properties that are presented as part of the Inn.

Great location, easy walk to the ski lifts, nice breakfast in the morning, and lovely common area with a fireplace. We enjoyed the hot tub as well! I would highly recommend this cozy property for a stay in Crested Butte!

The desk clerk (didn't get his name) was super nice and friendly. The place was clean but old, best for winter stays for skiers. They need to correct their bar/lounge to a couch in the lobby and beer from a dispenser when it works otherwise a can from the desk clerk from behind the counter. Luckily in a good area with lots of options for dining. Couldn't walk anywhere since sidewalks are mostly not there and too dangerous to walk the shoulder of the road.

Don't book this property through Expedia. They have 0 regard for safety, accessibility or convenience. They've added "suites" where you're required to park a mile away at the main hotel. There's no path or sidewalk to walk between the properties and they don't provide any transportation to the "suite." They won't inform you of this until you check in, leaving you stranded & having to risk your life walking a mile along a winding road with no shoulder, bushwhacking down a very steep hill in deep weeds, or waiting an unknown amount of time for a shared shuttle anytime you want to go *anywhere.* I booked 4 months in advance & informed them I was part of a photography workshop they've hosted for many years, so they knew I'd have lots of equipment and would be leaving before sunrise and returning after sunset - making walking in the pitch dark utterly unsafe and the shuttle impossible because it doesn't run at 4:30 am. And was I supposed to lug all my equipment back & forth by foot or on a shuttle? Not to mention lugging it up & down the 6 flights of stairs you have to climb to reach this room - no help offered. If you have any mobility issues - or if you just don't want to have to climb 100 stairs just to reach or leave your room and have zero access to your car or walkable amenities - DO NOT take the risk with this property. Note: They did cancel & refund my room when I discovered this, but there were only $$$ options left in town due to same-night high season booking rates.

The woman who checked us in informed us that our room didn’t include parking, so we had to call and use a shuttle to access our room. This was nowhere to be found when booking the room and it was NOT communicated by the property ahead of the check in. It’s also not clear from the property page that you are essentially renting a room in a house. You have to share amenities (kitchens, the lounge areas they show in Hotels.com) with other guests. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Finally, there is no AC and we were given a room with a broken window (a sign on the window said not to open it). It was hot and uncomfortable. A pretty disappointing stay!

We stayed in the castle suite which is in a separate house up the mountain. A beautiful home has been turned into several suites.In the common areas there are two dens, a full kitchen, a wet bar area, gym, and sauna. Numerous rooms have private hot tubs. We enjoyed beautiful views from every window in the Castle Suite. The room was huge and the bathroom was too. The only issues were the stairs up and down to the front door from the road. As long as you don't have mobility issues, there stairs are worth it! We would definitely stay here again.

Great inn. The hot tub was clean, the rooms were nice, and the breakfast was great although breakfast hot pockets would be a cool addition. I highly recommend this place. :)

Great location, clean room and very comfortable bed! Lukewarm hot tub with no working jets, microwave didn't work, and cocktails/bar were unavailable because of the off season (May). Friendly staff and reasonable breakfast.

Overall, the hotel stay was pleasant—the room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location is scenic and peaceful. However, one important detail that should be made clearer during the booking process is the parking situation. There is no parking lot near where you stay if you are not a usual (or VIP). Instead, you need to park your car off-site and rely on a complimentary shuttle service to and from the lot every time you need access to your vehicle. While the shuttle service is free and reasonably efficient, this arrangement can be inconvenient, especially if you plan to come and go frequently or have a tight schedule. It would be very helpful if this information were clearly stated upfront during the booking process, so guests can plan accordingly. If you’re not planning to use your car much during your stay, this might not be a major issue. But for those who need regular access to their vehicle, it’s definitely something to keep in mind.

Nordic Inn owns a 10BR home above the location of the Inn, so this stay was not actually at the Inn. We checked in at the Inn and then drove up the hill to the house. The house is for sale, currently, too. The house is very pretty, but needs some TLC. Our windows were sealed shut because they were broken and the patio furniture was torn. The door knob to the bathroom didn’t work, the sink has come loose from the wall - just small things that show the age of the building and lack of basic maintenance. That said, the location has a perfect view, the bed was comfortable, and it was nice to have a private hot tub. Not all rooms have hot tubs! This was confusing in the listing so we had to pay $100 more for a private hot tub as opposed to a shared one. Worth it, but not clear in the post. Also - lots of stairs! A bit difficult with luggage.

No one was at the front desk to check us in so we left to have a snack downtown. Came back at 2:30 and still no one but we waited for them. Outside is nothing to look at but rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable. A little noisy but we ran a fan in the window to block outside noise.

Over priced for what we got. The staff was friendly but the room was average. Needed to clean the carpet.

Clean room, quiet environment, cool enough inside right now that we didn’t bring in our additional fan we brought with us. I would still bring it because to each their own preference. Only negative was the bed was too soft and pillows to poofy for my liking. That’s the only negative. Would stay here again.

I was pretty excited to stay here, but the experience was disappointing. While the beds are very comfy and the service is nice, the room was basic, outdated, and not very clean. The floor was dusty, the roll of toilet paper was almost done, breakfast was like any other budget hotel. I was expecting a nice ski lodge, and ended up at another budget hotel.

The Nordic Inn is a charming older motel. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. However, the bed was poorly made and there was lint balls on the mattress pad which caused bumps on the fitted sheet. The sheets are thin and I could see the dirt through the sheet. I unmade the bed, removed the lint balls, and remade the bed. The first towel I grabbed out of the shower was stained. The other 3 towels were clean but of poor quality. The free breakfast was very limited but enough to start the morning with. The motel definitely needs a facelift. Nice views!

Pros: very close to the ski lifts, you can bring your pets(but can’t leave them in the room while skiing, so what to do with them?), very quite, cozy lounge with fireplace and music. Cons: kind of old building, smells old, pathways are not cleaned from ice, there is some dogs poop, so watch out.

Sadly this property was a disappointment due to lack of maintenance, updates & safety concerns. Safety concerns included door lock that wasn't secure & no fire extinguisher. Below the sign that said "In case of fire, fire extinguisher here" was a holder with no fire extinguisher. Lock on door was old type with key, no deadbolt and no inside latch. Husband locked door but was still able to open door with a hard push from the outside. Strike plate & lock mechanism totally inadequate. In terms of property condition/lack of maintenance - no hot water, dirty grout in bathtub, tattered furniture, very uncomfortable lumpy bed, no A/C, kleenex, toilet paper & towels felt like sandpaper, tv but no live channels - just what comes “free” with Roku, thin walls - could hear those beside and above us until late, poor breakfast options, and general lack of maintenance/few updates possibly since it opened. Contacted the number listed at the front desk about lack of hot water for shower that evening. They checked & said hot water tank for our room was leaking and couldn’t get someone to fix until next day. She offered to pay for us to go to “gym” at another hotel to shower - $35 each. Not convenient and who wants to lug their stuff to shower at a gym? Staff was friendly & accommodating, but only so much they could do without major updating/maintenance. On a positive note - the coffee was good. Not recommended unless you are out of options!

We stopped there during a fall foliage trip. The Inn has such a great vibe. I felt like I was visiting a friend's cozy Nordic home. It checks all the boxes, friendly staff, clean room, free breakfast, cozy hangout spots with guitar,board games,etc. My favorite thing was the hot tub after a long day of hiking.

An adorable ski lodge hotel that has charm all year round. Cozy rooms and lobby show nice age without too much wear. The breakfast was diverse with options while not technically being a “hot” breakfast. Beautiful setting.

The common area(s) are really great, comfy, spacious and have decent amenities. Be advised that you might be directed to trek up the mountain to a different building for your room, and then to roam the building to find the internet password. There wasn't AC in mine (had a fan, couldn't open window) but hopefully that's not the case for all rooms.

It is a nice, clean and basic room, however Expedia's site deceptively describes the Signature king room as having microwave, stove top, etc... and that is not the case, there is a microwave, ice machine and communal fridge in the hallway. Beds are good, basic good breakfast, friendly staff.

Thin walls, could hear everything

We stayed in the Pearl room and it was very large and had a private hot tub. The layout of room is a little strange but overall we enjoyed it. The biggest negative was the building with our room was not on the same property as the main inn. Thankfully Crested Butte has a free car ride service and you download the app and request a car just like you would do with an Uber. This is a great service.

Nice motel in a great location. But bring ear plugs -- the walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the neighbors.

This property was great and our room was amazing! Our room actually ended up being at a separate property up the hill from Nordic Inn which was a really beautiful place with great views. The only downside is the stairs- I was prepared that there wouldn't be an elevator but there were a lot of stairs to get to our room- not the easiest with luggage but the room, the view, and the amenities totally made it worth it!

No AC and the window fan was ineffective. Disappointed that there was not a refrigerator in the room.

The staff is wonderful. It was clear that the staff truly cares about providing a great experience.

This was my shower setup, no handle on the shower and handle sitting on the sink. Someone either forgot to fix the shower and left the handle on the sink. This is not acceptable service. The manager left his cell number on the front desk for immediate service and avoided calls. Finally got a hold of him and he offered a full refund on the room, then only discounted $20.00. His word was useless. Overall a nice hotel, clean room but Tyler the managers service was awful from a customer service perspective.

Nordic Inn was tremendous! Ryan and Travis were extremely helpful, friendly, knowledgeable of the area and restaurants, just great people all around. It was awesome to see so many dogs. Skiing was amazing. Breakfast bar, peanut butter, toast, tea, coffee, was key for me, since I had a very long travel day. Would love to see some oats and more egg, yogurt options if possible ;)... Hope to return again soon! Five stars.

The staff was absolutely the best part of staying at the Nordic Inn. Fantastic folks!!! The room was great and loved that we could walk right over to the base of the ski area. Will plan to stay there next time we're in Crested Butte

We did not see one single person that worked there. There was supposed to be a continental breakfast and there was nothing. When we checked in there was an envelope on the desk with our name on it and a room key inside. Never saw one single person.

I booked the Inn after reading numerous positive reviews, especially about the staff, but our experience was entirely different. We had a long flight from Boston to Denver, then drove from Denver to Crested Butte in heavy rain. When we arrived at the Inn around 5:00 PM, we were soaking wet and were greeted in the worst possible way. There was no one at the front desk to check us in, just a note stating that the staff was unavailable and that keys for guests who had not yet checked in were left on the table. However, I couldn't find our key. I called the number on the note at the front desk, but no one answered. Then I called the number in my booking, only to hear the phone at the front desk ring. I contacted Expedia for assistance, but they were unable to help, stating it was peak season and no local staff were available. We waited for about 30 minutes, and still, no one came. Finally, I called the number on the note again, and a man named Ryan answered. He arrived 10 minutes later, yelled at us as if we were at fault, checked us in with a terrible attitude, and did not apologize. When I asked if the service was always this bad, he stared at me and claimed he didn’t understand what I was saying. He handed me the key, slammed the door in my face, and drove off in his Jeep in a very rude manner. After a long flight and a rainy drive, being welcomed in such a terrible way was unimaginable. However, at least we were finally able to check in.

Chance, personable and welcoming, was very helpful with hike and restaurant suggestions. Nice vibe to the place. Thought of little things that make it work well for outdoorsy people.

Arrived at 5:30PM, prime check-in time. There was nobody at the front desk, only a card informing that the front desk person would be back in 5 to 10 minutes. After standing around for seven or eight minutes it turned out that the front desk clerk was standing only10 feet away, chatting with guests in the lounge, and he finally looked over to discover that there were guests waiting to check in. The hotel contacted us the day before arrival to inquire whether we had a pet or not; we replied that we did not. The front desk clerk asked the same question again at check-in, with the same answer. He then gave us a room that had obviously had dogs in it recently; the smell of dog was very strong. While we were trying to decide whether we could live with the bad smell, we discovered that there was no heat in the room, with freezing temperatures and snow forecast that night. A helpful young man came to the room and changed the batteries in the thermostat, but still no heat. Shortly after that, the power failed, and we were left in the dark. Went to the front desk, again, nobody there. We called the phone number on the card on the desk but nobody answered. We called back a few minutes later, still no answer so we left a voicemail; no callback. Fortunately, the young man who replaced the batteries in the thermostat, had left his number in case of further problems, so we contacted him, and he gave us another room. The new room didn’t smell so bad, but still had no heat.

The Nordic Inn is an old school alpine experience: not luxurious but full of wood, history and comfy chairs. The staff is terrific - friendly and responsive. The breakfast is more like a fast-serve Econo-lodge but adequate. Hot water can be sparse and there was water damage in the bathroom ceiling. But the bed was comfy and overall the room was fine. It’s dog friendly, so you will hear barking. But guests are respectful. It’s a little overpriced for what you get but the views are what you are really paying for.

This hotel is old and definitely could use a refresh. However, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The lobby has a nice sitting area with self-serve alcohol and the breakfast area is cute. The breakfast was good with a nice selection of items. One weird thing is that there isn’t anyone at the front desk after evening time and there was no staff during breakfast.

Hotel older but very pleasant. Clean and very quiet. Bed comfortable. Our host at front desk very friendly and quite nice - thank you. The breakfast there was VERY nice. A lot of options to appeal to most. Gathering room clean - real china, coffee cups and silverware. Enjoyable. One of the better (included) breakfasts we have had recently (and we are not picky people!).

There was no hot water during our stay - it was tepid at best, and after a long, dusty day outside, it wasn’t great to clean up in a cool shower. The hotel was aware of this but didn’t tell us, so we thought maybe it was just temporarily out. But it never got hot, no matter how long we waited. When I asked, they said they were aware of the issue. Would have been nice if they had told us and offered if we wanted to cancel and stay elsewhere. Also, some of the breakfast items had gotten stale. They need to keep track of how many days they put out the same English muffins, croissants, etc. It has a lot of potential but seems to be in disrepair and poorly managed.

Property is conveniently situated near the ski lifts and some nice hiking trails. You'll probably need to drive if you want to access downtown. TV has a set volume that can't be heard unless you're very close to the set. Property is quite old but decently maintained. Free breakfast is mostly microwave products, yogurt and muffins.

The property was very dated. Paid 4 star price for 2 star site. To be fair, the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cold prepackaged food with a microwave and toaster. Stairs from second level (on back) outside was covered with fresh ice caused by dripping leak in structure above that my son fell on. They added salt after notifying them, but it's just a sign of a need for better maintenance. Location was convenient .... but considering the price and condition of the property, we will not be staying here again.
