Hotel Quintas Papagayo

Its a very scenic property. The buildings are aged, built in 1947. The pool and jacuzzi were being remodeled. Room service could be better. The restaurant and bar are top notch.

We had never stayed here before, and since we were staying one night only, we opted for the junior suite. Finding the office after entering the property was a little challenging as there isn’t parking for the office. The junior suite was good size, basic room with nice view, but the floors were so cold we kept our shoes on and would not have survived the night without the little portable heater they provided, and that’s with wearing sweats to bed. We stayed Valentine’s Day. The property has great potential, especially with the mid-century modern cottages…looked like Bedrock or Palm Springs. However, it’s a mish-mash, with a variety of architectural styles and useless areas with so much potential. The pool was all made up for pics with towels and such but cold as ice. No spa. The bar seemed to be newly built but had no architectural commonality except for a pitched roof. We had 2 margaritas for $20 US dollars…way too much and way too small. Extremely limited menu. I did have a beer tasting which was good. Just a strange area, with 3 bottles of liquor shown and beer taps right in front of the sports tv. Maybe there’s a new owner? Or this place needs a new owner? It has potential and someone that knows what they’re doing with the property and defined goals for this place. I’d go back to stay in one of the cottages but nothing else. I wouldn’t go to the bar/restaurant as it stands now. Someone please come in that knows how to creat a successful resort. We have many ideas!!

We really liked this hotel. Convenient location, on the water, just outside of town center. It felt friendly and safe, and we loved being on the shore. It's a little old-fashioned, even slightly funky feel, but we like that - it's not slick, no pool, but very comfortable and good-looking. We had a beautiful water view. Nice low-key walkway along the water, that starts at the hotel and goes south. Couldn't get wifi the first day, but that mostly cleared up and luckily we didn't care very much. The bar and restaurant - and wine bar - not affiliated with the hotel i don't think - are very good, which was really great one night we were too tired to go out and still had a great meal.

Don't like that you can't use jacuzzi Monday-thursday, no bathroom open or available in pool area or near. No regular TV channels in English. Too much construction on property moving dirt around near pool.

It just wasn’t the best experience. The WiFi did not work for the entire 3 days of our stay. It was confirmed it wasn’t working on apple products but we were told it should work on any other products. This was not true in our case. The display for the TV was static. The walls are paper thing in the cabin so I heard our neighbors TV all night til 12am and then early in the morning. Hearing them talk was awful when you’re trying to rest. It was truly the worst part of it. We had a fire place and we were given wood but the wood was damp so it took a tremendous amount of effort to light a fire. The pool was a nice touch but it was cold during our stay and we were hoping the jacuzzi would warm up. But it did not. The jets worked but the temperature stayed as cold as the pool. It wasn’t a bad place to stay it just felt like we couldn’t relax. The bed was also very soft so sleeping was uncomfortable. I’d sink into my spouse and I’d have to constantly move out of the sunken area.

Few steps and you find the ocean. Very clean and comfy. Easy park. Very Nice tab restaurant. Great location. Great price for the benefits.

The place overall is very nice. The personnel very welcoming. However, there is too much noise early morning in the surrounding areas. One of the lamps from the night stand wasn’t working. No too much privacy while in the room for there are people always walking along the beach.

Es un lugar muy cómodo, ameno, limpio y con una bella vista en las cabinas.

Pésimo servicio de recepción. No avisaron que no estaba apta la unidad para utilizarla. Yo reserve una frente al mar. Trabajadores alrededor de la unidad. No se pudo utilizar e servicio se room service. Servicios de limpieza excelente la unidad bonita, cuartos amplios y baños muy bien. No volvería ni la recomendaría.

Hotel muy sucio y descuidado, empleados tomando en el area de la alberca, bastante ruido por las mañanas (6:00am) olor excesivo a humedad.

Personal sumamente amable, registro muy práctico y ágil. Excelente ubicación y una vista espectacular. Con diferentes tipo de habitaciones muy amplias y equipadas; si tienes suerte te puede tocar una remodelada, de lo contrario, sí te llevarás una sorpresa, ya que algunas son muy viejas, con equipos de a/a que mejor deberían retirar porque guardan mucho polvo, el olor a humedad es muy penetrante, incluso a polilla.

The property needs a major remodeling in the junior suites. Shower heads, sinks, and other furniture are old. There is still a nice view and very quiet due to the several rules they have, like no parties, which is great.

La habitacion eata en pesimas condiciones el baño muy dañada la puerta el estractor mucho ruido. Dañada la loseta, cables de las lamparas de techo expuestos. Los pisos maltratados. Lamparas sin funcionar. La cama incomoda, las sillas del balcon oxidadas el balcon con suciedad en las paredes.y la tv no funciono. Solo se veian 3 canales bien y con peliculas viejisimas. Muy incomoda mi estadia. Informe en recepcion pero no se hizo nada. Las instalaciones cuando llegas se ve bonita la entrada pero nada mas eso me gusto. No regreso a ese.lugar. por el costo que pague no vale. Como pueden rentar habitaciones con tanta carencia y descuido.

It’s a beautiful place and the view to the ocean Amazing. Looks exactly like the pictures.

This place is very old and dated. The furniture is old and falling apart. The shower tiles were missing and just filled in with plaster, the rooms have no A/C. Obviously the owners are not trying to invest too much money in some of these units. I stayed in room 102. Beware of that building! Im glad i did not bring a lady here.

Rooms have a nice rustic feel, but a bit outdated. Shower is old with a door that leads to exterior being held by a small nailed piece of wood. Front and back doors need to have better locks. Feels insecure with only a sliding lock held by two screws on rear entrance near public walking path . Yet, views were amazing and property/pool area were very nice .Rooms and living room were very spacious. A slight remodel would upgrade and enhance the Casitas tremendously.

Neg: The amount of rules they have are exhausting. I probably won't stay there often. You cannot even have any visitors at all. They didn't have the dish I ordered at the restaurant. They wanted you wear some paper bracelets like a club. No thanks! The wifi didn't work most of the time.

We did have to upgrade to another room for 600 pesos more due to us not noticing that the one we got only had a fan and no A/C and it was a hot room because the sun was hitting it on the front. When we upgraded the room it was almost the same, just this one had a Minisplit all the way by the bathroom and a fan on the ceiling (that did not work) but since it was small (Minosplit 1 ton i belive) it wasn't cooling the room enough so we called in to the reception and the night receptionist refused to give us another fan when there was others available and started questioning us in a rude way in why we wanted a fan when we already had a/c. (If they didn't have a fan i would've undestood and also if he would of kindly told us , but NO he was RUDE so that we did not like at all, we ended up having to sleep uncomfortable due to that so most likely this will not be an option later on. At least not for us

Very relaxing, enjoyed the quietness of the property. We really liked our cabin right by the waterfront.

Everyone was friendly, especially the guard at the gate (the entrance) Martin was very polite, friendly and helpful. Told me where the closest store was and how to get there, always with a bright smile on his face. Property is beautiful, comfy, quiet and close to the ocean. Reception was also nice and all staff, there are many home-like places to stay, it’s like a little town not a hotel. The only thing I didn’t quite like was the mattress, it was way to soft and wobbly. But other than that I give the whole experience 9/10, would definitely come back and also recommend it.

Staff at front desk was courteous and overall good. I’ve stayed at this property a couple years back with a friend and remembered house to be nice. That being said, the OCEANFRONT CHALET that I rented for 4 people SHOULD NOT BE RENTED OUT UNTIL RENOVATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE. House is VERY OUTDATED and UNSAFE. Some of the “amenities” like a hair dryer have been there since Mexico was founded, it literally came apart when touched. Press 0 to call front desk they said, oh wait NO PHONE. You have to make an international call from your phone if you want to reach the front desk. ATLEAST 2 of the tiles on the floor are very loose. My girlfriend actually TRIPPED ON LOOSE TILE AND CUT HER LEG AND HURT HER HAND/BACK TRYING TO BREAK THE FALL. The shower is super small. If you’re a big / tall person, good luck. It was very cold nights, made that international phone call to reach the front desk, asked if they could bring more firewood and was never told there was an extra charge until the worker who brought it dropped it off. $120MXN which is not alot but front desk should at least inform you of these charges. And speaking of charges, IF YOU USED ANYTHING IN THE KITCHEN, MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN AND WASH EVERYTHING, even the stuff you didn’t use because they will CHARGE YOU $200MXN once you go check out if you don’t. Again .. was never told this before hand. GF went back go wash dishes and worker had dumped EVERYTHING (even unused) in the sink so she could wash it. 2.5 stars at best right now

Check in and out is easy, the staff was great. Place was clean and very quiet and relaxing.

This place has lots of potential. However, this with water leak, lights not working, one of the TV’s not working and the other wifi not working, I do not recommend. Express my concern to front office and they offer no solutions for us.

Si lo que buscas es un lugar tranquilo y agradable para descansar, este es el lugar. Personal agradable, cero ruido y su restaurante con comida excelente!!!

Perfect... the room was clean, the staff was friendly. I recommend this property to all of my friends and family as well as to anyone who wants a quiet place to stay that is still close to town.

Muy limpio, ambiente agradable, muy privado y seguro me encanto ! no esta en el centro de la ciudad pero a minutos en carro, si lo recomiendo ampliamente !

Very nice location with beach access.

We went for a getaway weekend and stayed at this property. It is somewhat old but in a nice location near a marina, highway, and restaurants.

Great location right on water, our unit was a little worn out, could use an update. Just wear and tear from being waterfront. Several units were being remodeled.

Property was great. Rooms were pretty good a little bit noisy, but had to do with a car alarm going off. Wish they had more Mexican ions on the menu at the restaurant/bar. Other than that it was an excellent spot would totally recommend.
