Lovely water view, full kitchen, very helpful and cheerful staff.

We have grandchildren with medical conditions requiring specialized diet, so having the full fridge and stove was superb. The location was excellent,and every room had a unobstructed view of Cowichan Bay. Best 4 day stay in our vacation.

The parking lot as kinda small but the customer service was amazing

The bed was comfortable, the kitchenette was well equipped. There was a table and chairs and good wifi. There were chests of drawers and a cupboard. The memories that we created here from the balcony complete with chairs will last us a lifetime!

We had a room which had been recently renovated. Looks like they are in the process of renovating the entire hotel. Front desk staff was very helpful and offered free pop and water which was greatly appreciated. Room had a view of the water and location is perfect, right across road from fantastic ocean views. Thank you. Highly recommend

Good location for visiting Cowichan Bay or Duncan. Quiet, clean, well stocked kitchenette, friendly manager, nice view of the bay from the room and small balcony. We come every year for the Islands Folk Festival.

Staff at check-in was exceptional and courteous. The room I stayed in was awesome, clean, current, updated, beautiful. Just what I needed after a long road-trip west. Really liked that there were laundry facilities on-site for guest use. Beautiful area, lovely views.

This is a limited frills property undergoing a renovation. We had a renovated room and it's quite nice! It has a small cooktop and enough kitchen supplies to get you by, a balcony with ocean view. It's mid renovated so manage expectations but the staff are super nice and the location is excellent. Beds were very comfortable.

An older motel, but the rooms had been freshened up Parking was tight

They upgraded me to a waterfront suite for free. :) Decent hotel. Didn't notice anything off putting. Couldn't shut the faucet off completely so the water dripped all night. I liked their bathtowels, very soft and real cotton.

Clean room, good staff, right on the ocean

Alrhough the Inn has had some work done, it's still not in good condition. Beds were clean but carpets are filthy.

Bathroom smelt like urine, can hear the people in the next room, carpets were dirty. You could see through the door when it was closed and the safety latch on the inside was nothing short of laughable. Staff was excellent,and room was affordable.

Having paid almost $300/night expecting a “quaint” seaside accommodation not 5 star luxury we were greeted by Michael (for which all comments in prior reviews is accurate on his warm welcome). We were not prepared for what we saw the moment we opened the door. The room was beyond “tired” .. duct tape holding the flooring down, stained linens and pillows, dirty walls with holes, door frames coming off and stained carpets. It was disgusting. We arrived late and after spending 40 minutes on line searching for another accommodation, went to our car where we luckily had towels and pillows we could use. Seriously had “Bates Motel” vibe complete with tourism books dating back to 2020 Needless to say, first thing in the morning.. went to desk where Michael apologized - there is no way on earth that staff here don’t know the terrible condition of the space. Michael advised that they had 4 “renovated” rooms however would have to call ownership for approval. I suggested I would gladly call “ownership” if we weren’t moved. This property is a “buyer beware” with the “non-renovated” rooms condemned. The renovated rooms have new flooring, paint, bathrooms and mattresses however all the old beat up hard furnishings remain The ONLY reason this place is likely still in business is Michael the Manager is clearly doing all he can to make the best out of a terrible property

big disappointment, first room we were put in, had disgusting stains on the carpet, mold in base in the bathroom, overall not clean but mainly due to poor workmanship or no proper maintenance. Windows look out to the ocean but were so dirty inside and out, impossible to see anything. After complaining that we wanted our money back after first night, they put us in a suite which was cleaner and nicer except . . we couldn't take showers because the cold water tap was jammed and impossible to open. Overall a terrible experience!

The property is older, but very clean and well kept, and the location is great. Staff were very attentive and there to help, not just man the front desk. Highly recommended, would definitely stay here again.

This place exceeded expectations. The staff take great pride and it is spotless and comfortable.

Very run down, bad state of disrepair. Tiles on deck not fastened - worn and dirty and just placed on the undersurface, linoleum in kitchen repaired with duct-tape, hair dryer attached with one screw and didn’t work, windows and screen streaked and dirty. Gyproc peeling in bathroom and elsewhere. Outside stairs steep, not maintained and dangerous. Online reviews very misleading. Extremely overpriced. Staff was friendly and room was clean.

Our room was newly renovated! It was wonderful and I loved the updated mirror in the bathroom. The balcony was great with the wonderul water view. What made our stay even better was the gentlemen in the office checking us in. He was friendly, courteous with a great attitude.

Delightful, freshly renovated room with kitchenette and ocean view. I liked that there was a fridge with a freezer and a simple, easy to use coffee maker. I also appreciate that the TV remote wasn’t overly complicated like some places I’ve stayed. Michael at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again!

You can tell the owner is trying to fix up the place. The walls and celing are very thin. One room kept us up the first night, then the room above us woke us up the next night.

The property has been renovated and is very nice. All the amenities were available. It’s also across the street from the Bay so the view was very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

There is a great view from the side we were on, facing the park and the bay, but there is a busy road in front. Quiet at night though. The staff were very friendly and the room and bed were clean and comfortable.nice to have a balcony but not easy to sit there because of location of hanging plant at head level. Big fridge quite noisy at night, and would have preferred a bigger coffee machine, otherwise well equipped. Shower ran cold at 9.30 am ( hot in evening), bathroom sink stopper not working and toilet hard to flush. Close to restaurants, but a list in order to make reservations would have been useful. Nearest beach (Cherry Point) hard to find as no sign for turn- off.

From the moment I checked in it was fabulous! Friendly and very inviting place that is quaint and in an amazing location in Cowichan Bay. Just far enough away from the main street and it's business - walking distance so no worries about having to bring a vehicle to explore the village. Clean and the room was exceptionally nice. Newly renovated suite with 2 queen beds and a kitchenette. The room was equipped with more than enough towels, pots, cutlery, coffee and they even had splenda which made me very happy. Very quiet, the view from one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on was the ocean. I literally sit up in my bed in the morning and see the ocean. Hearing the sea lions right from my room is pretty awesome, it's high season for them at the moment in Cowichan Bay and the reason many people come around this time of year. I will not stay anywhere else in Cowichan Bay except this little gem! I even extended my stay! Great Job to this small team for the best stay ever!

We had a wonderful experience at Wessex Inn. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The location is perfect — close to local attractions and with beautiful surroundings. A special thank you to Michael at the front desk, who was incredibly helpful and provided outstanding service throughout our stay. His friendly attitude and willingness to assist made us feel truly welcome. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area!

Helpful cheerful staff. Upgraded the room and even provided a wonderful snack.

The front desk staff was very professional and pleasant. When I mentioned how I had a very long day he upgraded my room without me asking. Brilliant service and will now stay here each time I’m on that side of the Island. Thank you!

Staff are very friendly and customer orientated. Right from our arrival they made sure that we had everything that we needed to make our stay comfortable. My husband was very appreciative of the free pop in the fridge in the reception area. The exterior of the property was being repainted during our stay showing pride in ownership. I am a part-time wheelchair user and they were very accomodating in ensuring that we received a room on the main floor - this was done on very short notice as we had a terrible experience with another facility and had to find a suitable place on short notice. There was plenty of space inside the room to store my wheelchair and the rest of our luggage. Their ability to accommodate us was very much appreciated. The room that we stayed in had a small efficiency area which was great as we could bring items from the grocery store back to eat at our leisure. The kitchenette was stocked with everything that we could need. The bedding was clean and fresh and smelled lovely, lots of pillows for the snoring husband :) Rooms were nicely made up by the time that we returned to the motel every afternoon/evening with plenty of fresh towels. Hot water was always available, even if you chose to shower a little later in the morning. Although the property is a bit older, it is well-maintained and is in a lovely location in the quiet little village on the bay. Little shops and the marina were available to explore. Easy access off the highway. Def would stay again :)

This hotel has an exceptional location, and beautiful view. The rooms and common areas are clean and well maintained however a bit outdated, but the price is reflective of this. What makes this hotel option exceptional is the staff. Sahil, went out of his way to assist me with a family emergency and all employees onsite are helpful, and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel as a clean, well appointed and well located option, on a family budget. It is not a 5 star hotel, but I give it 5 stars for the items important to me while travelling. Cleanliness, friendly, location and walk ability to town and harbour. We will be back!

Close proximity to the waterfront. We enjoyed the view, and the friendliness of area residents. Staff was polite and accommodating. The facilities are dated but it was clean, comfortable and in a quiet neighbourhood Put up a better sign for the after dark arrivals

This was a very well taken care of inn off the main road. It was walking distance to everything you need and was far enough away from the hub that it wasn’t noisy. The view from our suite was great and the staff were super friendly! We will definitely stay here again.

While room was clean and you can see attempts to maintain care and condition. The rooms are tired. I would recomend because water is close by with shops and some restaurants in walkable distance.
