BIG4 Kryal Castle Holiday Park Ballarat

We loved the cabins. The bed was amazing and so was the shower. Its in a gorgeous location with countryside views. We were surprised that we were allowed free rntry into Kryal Castle after hours. It felt special to be able to explore on our own. A suggestion would be to provide chairs on the decks outside the cabins. We had our own but other people had to dit on the steps or stand.

Incredible value for money, to have continental breakfast and castle access included for our stay was amazing, made for a great day after a long drive and an excellent chance for our toddler to enjoy the attraction. Room was basic, but enough room for our family, walls are a little thin in the budget family rooms, we could hear next door clearly, but for a single night and the price we paid it was fine.

We stayed here two nights, mid week, which means the shops, eatery and basically all activities are closed. The upside to that is that you get the grounds to yourself, there's still LOADS to do for adults and kids. My two teens were out there for hours exploring and playing in the grounds. The room (commanders quarters) was small as expected, but roomy enough for a family of 5 to stay comfortably. The only downfall was the lack of kitchen space and cooking amenities. We had to use a cup to fill the kettle, and dishes had to be washed in the sink in basin. Not a huge issue, honestly, a minor inconvenience at most, but when someone is in shower and you want a coffee.. that can be a bit annoying. Other than that, the fact there was nowhere available to cook hot food other than a microwave was also midlt annoying. We had planned to order food to be delivered upon our arrival but thought we'd wait to make sure there was a stove or BBQs, thankfully we didn't. We did however spend 30 mins in front of a microwave heating up 5 frozen meals for tea lol Overall we loved our stay, the staff were more than helpful, we had loads of space to ourselves during the week, we were not at all bored during our time there. we are already planning to come back during the busy season, to see what the other side of Kryal is all about. We will be prepared next time!

There was not enough hot water to fill the tub so it as unusable. Spa bath was one of the main reasons I booked this room. Manager said "well if someone in the other rooms took a shower..then there might not be enough hot water for the bath" Walls of bathroom had various molds and water damage. You could see unsealed gaps around the mirror in the bathroom with light coming through from outside. key cards stopped working one evening after returning from dinner and we couldnt get into the accommodation lobby. A guest had the same problem but luckily his girlfriend came out to let us back in. Other guests were noisy at night and early in the morning and knocking on all the doors including ours. You could hear everything going on in the rooms next door. If someone was in the corridor you could hear everything. Overall it was a terrible stay and I paid premium prices for a crack motel level stay. Manager promised me a refund and started the refund process with wotif. Wotif then did absolutely nothing. I had to call to chase up my refund and I was told by wotif I would get it in 7-10 days. Four weeks later I still didn’t receive my refund. I had to call Wotif back, and they confirmed that they NEVER ISSUED MY REFUND. After complaining I got my money back.

We got to walk around and see the buildings and do the stone maze when no one else was around. The Abbey Tavern was open late, so we had some supper there and it was delicious! The decor there and in our room was all in theme, and quite lovely. We stayed in the honeymoon king suite, and I really appreciated the appliances provided like the mini-fridge, microwave, etc. My partner loved the bed, but I found it a bit uncomfortable as we both kept rolling towards the center of the bed. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep very well, but my partner did, so difference of perspective there, lol. We really appreciated the heat pump as it was hot the first day so we had the air on, and freezing cold the second day, so we could warm up. The jetted tub was lovely, but I only got to use it briefly. I'd love to go back again for another stay! My man and I give this place a big HUZZAH and two thumbs up!

I found on arrival that as paying guest for two nights we could not even get dinner. Appreciate that they have events on but i would have expected paying over night guest would have been looked after. No bins around the property. In our King Suite SPA NO water pressure, TV did not work, and no staff around to speak to. Not impressed with the experience and will not be recommending it to others. I went here 20 years ago and Kryall Castle it self needs money spent on it, not turn it into a caravan park.

Affordable and comfortable, mattresses aren’t on par with my own but still comfortable. Spa was great, felt loud at first but realised the jets were or full lol wash access to the park was great, highly recommend!

It was super hot on the day we explored the castle so it was nice to be able to go back to an air-conditioned room to cool down and have some lunch before heading back out. And the parts we didnt finish exploring, we went back again the next day to finish. The staff were all super nice and the actors/characters at the theme park were outstanding! Dislike: Not enough hooks and shelves in the bathroom. Also the glass door in the shower leaked so there was water on the floor outside every time anyone used the shower. The shower floor was also super slippery. Location wise, there's nowhere to eat after dark so no choice but to head to ballarat city centre or buy takeaway before you come back to the castle. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and recommend this place. Great value for money.

Loved the program with gem packed activities in the castle. The stay was unique and dream like to be in a castle and we all loved it. Check-in wasn’t the best as the room was not ready at 2pm and I had to run up and down to the receptionist twice to get the key only after 2:30pm. The room can be better with some maintenance with the ceiling above shower peeling off and coffee mugs with stains. It’s very windy at night which makes a loud noise from the window that keeps me up almost the whole night. Otherwise it’s been a great experience.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were truly wonderful—warm, friendly, and always ready to help.Exploring the castle grounds and immersing ourselves in the medieval world was even more entertaining than we expected. The shows were interactive and engaging, and the performances were top-notch. The gardens provided a peaceful retreat, and the animals were a pleasant addition to the overall experience.We highly recommend a weekend stay at Kryal Castle for anyone looking for a unique and entertaining getaway. Thanks for having us—we’ll definitely be back!

The property was quiet and safe with lot of parking space. The carpet was not clean and the bathroom tile has come out and was falling very often on to the toilet seat.

DO NOT STAY HERE! got given a foam mattress on floor with a sheet that had holes in it. The mattress was on floor under window that wouldnt close and door with huge draft. EVERY piece of furniture was broken and filthy. The shower door didnt close and the window literally falling apart. Toenail clippings and dirt on floor. Pillows non existent wafers and king bed (two single mattresses) had broken springs. After hours number was never answered. Only one shampoo and two soaps for 3 people. Not worth $270 pn! Absolutely horrible stay. Was really good until Big4 took over. I REPEAT DO NOT STAY!

Bathroom half painted. I’m a cleaner so I look at all aspects as it’s just habit. Bathroom not clean. No face washer. No tea towel to dry dishes should have trolleys to help with luggage. I would hate to have been going alone with just my daughter. Also reception with no wheelchair access is a bit inconvenient.

Stayed in family budget to sleep up to 14 people. Had a huge water leak in the room with moist carpet which made the room smell unpleasant. Old and run down. In desperate need of a facelift. Continental breakfast poor very limited options.

We enjoyed the experience went for the king spa suite. Great value for a large room with a king size bed and spa. Spa worked with well. Lachlan at reception was very empathetic and accommodating.

I stayed in the most beautiful room. It was spacious and had everything you needed while still keeping to the castles theme. The weather is quite cold so my room has had the heater on already for me. I had an electric blanket and a heater in the bathroom as well, keeping me very warm. The bathroom was unreal, with the round room hidden behind a magical looking door. I had a courtyard that was so green and luscious. It was just beautiful. The castle itself was unique and amazing with so many activities and things to see. Every lap i did, i seen something new. They had shops everywhere that were a great touch to bring that extra experience of fun and to take home souvenirs. The photo opportunities are everywhere with the castle being just brilliant to see including the jousting performances.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Castle with only one exception…we felt very sorry for the Peacock because he didn’t seem to come out of his little home. All staff were so lovely and helpful ☺️🦚🏰

We couldn’t pick one thing that we loved about kyral as it was all very beautiful and mystical. The only thing we would say is a few more dining options would be great, or if there was a breakfast menu for people that stayed over in the accommodation, would be great. Otherwise everything was fantastic and we had a wonderful stay!

This is an amazing place! The rooms are even like a castle. Our teenage boys loved it. Lots to do and discover and learn. Included breakfast which was great. Staying in the castle made us feel like we were living in the age. Music playing and gifts shops of the era plus the josting and sword fighting was wonderful. If you go to Melbourne make sure to take the quick trip to Leigh creek to go to Kryal Castle and better still stay the night in the castle.

Stayed in family budget to sleep up to 14 people. Had a huge water leak in the room with moist carpet which made the room smell unpleasant. Old and run down. In desperate need of a facelift. Continental breakfast poor very limited options.
