Great food, both breakfast and dinner. Good location for Skellig traips as long as you have a car, 10 min drive from Portmagee. Room decent space for travelling (room for cases). Toiletries provided. Good buzz in bar and good choice of beers, nice seat outside overlooking the inlet.

Great place to stay on Valentia Island to explore the region. Staff was outstanding. Breakfast and dinner the one night we ate there were delicious. It was a pleasant experience to stay in a hotel that has been in business for over 150 years.

Although hotel was not at all full and had rooms facing the water i was given a room with one side window overlooking tbe kitchen roof and outhouses without a glimpse of the views. Food average pub food.

This is an old but wonderfully restored hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything needed including shampoo, safe, and hair dryer. It had unique spaces like a small sitting area with a beautiful view of the harbor. As one would expect with an older hotel the walls are thin so I could hear all the happenings from the bathroom next door. You may want earplugs if that bothers you. The mattress is a little old and thin but the bedding was soft and comfortable. They have a full restaurant with a good variety on the menu including vegetarian options. There are few choices in town other than here to eat but it’s not far to other towns with more options. The evening staff at the restaurant seemed to be a bit overwhelmed so service was slow. Morning was much better. There is a beautiful hike in town to Bray Head with amazing cliff views of the ocean. I highly recommend this hike if you are able to do a somewhat strenuous 1.5 mile uphill climb on a well maintained road/trail. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return.

We had to wait quite a bit to check in, there was no one at the front desk. We were also told there was no breakfast until 8am, but others were in eating before that. Cleanliness no the best, bathroom floors were dirty. Very charming though, some other flaws that are to be expended with the age.

There was absolutely nothing about this property we did not like. It was our favorite of 12 different hotels we used during our travels. Beautifully decorated. Fantastic staff. Clean and quiet. And the food was the best we ate.

This is a charming property. Conveniently located, with a wonderful restaurant and views of the mainland and bay. Reservations are usually required at the restaurant; the food was good. Our room, on the first level, was oddly shaped and likely renovated from a previous life as a side entrance. It was awkward and the noise level from adjoining rooms was not pleasant. We listened to the next door guest snore all night

Despite the fact that they advertise all rooms as being air-conditioned, we found out that this is not the case. The first room we were put in was not air-conditioned and when we went down and asked if another room was available, we were treated very rudely by the woman at the desk. She told us that an air conditioned room is a special request and we did not ask for that. After hauling all of our bags back down the staircase (there are no elevators), we were sent to another room where we had to haul all of our bags back up another staircase. At no time did any staff member offer to help with our baggage or apologize for the misunderstanding that they created. When it came time to check out they tried to bill me a second time for the room that had already been paid for on Expedia as well as the previous night's dinner that had been paid for at the table. We would not stay in this hotel again.

Overall a very good experience. Only complaints would be a bed mattress that was on the stiff side and a very very noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom. The surroundings on the peninsula were off the hook beautiful and don’t leave without driving out to the lighthouse.

Came in a little late, but the staff was very kind and quite responsive to our needs. Even carried our bags up to our room and offered to see if the kitchen would stay open a little later to feed us! Room was lovely.

Great food, both breakfast and dinner. Good location for Skellig traips as long as you have a car, 10 min drive from Portmagee. Room decent space for travelling (room for cases). Toiletries provided. Good buzz in bar and good choice of beers, nice seat outside overlooking the inlet.

Great place to stay on Valentia Island to explore the region. Staff was outstanding. Breakfast and dinner the one night we ate there were delicious. It was a pleasant experience to stay in a hotel that has been in business for over 150 years.

Quaint hotel with nice view of the water. Close to our excursion at Skellig Michael the next morning. Quick breakfast and they opened early for us due to our early departure. Room was clean, bathroom layout was a little tight with door hitting the toilet.

Although hotel was not at all full and had rooms facing the water i was given a room with one side window overlooking tbe kitchen roof and outhouses without a glimpse of the views. Food average pub food.

This is an old but wonderfully restored hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything needed including shampoo, safe, and hair dryer. It had unique spaces like a small sitting area with a beautiful view of the harbor. As one would expect with an older hotel the walls are thin so I could hear all the happenings from the bathroom next door. You may want earplugs if that bothers you. The mattress is a little old and thin but the bedding was soft and comfortable. They have a full restaurant with a good variety on the menu including vegetarian options. There are few choices in town other than here to eat but it’s not far to other towns with more options. The evening staff at the restaurant seemed to be a bit overwhelmed so service was slow. Morning was much better. There is a beautiful hike in town to Bray Head with amazing cliff views of the ocean. I highly recommend this hike if you are able to do a somewhat strenuous 1.5 mile uphill climb on a well maintained road/trail. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return.

There was absolutely nothing about this property we did not like. It was our favorite of 12 different hotels we used during our travels. Beautifully decorated. Fantastic staff. Clean and quiet. And the food was the best we ate.

This place is a gem! Feels like an authentic Irish stay, and a place you’d see in the movies. The island is gorgeous and people are friendly. Beds are a little on the firmer side and doors are a little loud but the history and beauty make up for it. Food is great, staff is kind, rooms are a great size.
