Outdoor areas need some attention. Room could use a mirror over sink. Broken chairs at pool and pool area needs one paint on concrete and rails. Showing its age. Staff are wonderful. Restaurant not so great. Dirty umbrellas and junk laying around beside tables

Fabulous location with excellent access directly to the beach. Very helpful staff. Loved that even after checking out you still could use parking, a hot shower, bathrooms, the pool, and the beach. Would absolutely stay there again!

Location , location ! Older hotel with beach access! Overall I liked it. Our room was a little funky a loft over the lobby . Not sure how I chose that room; it was spacious and had a kitchen, but virtually no windows, next time I’d choose a regular room. I could have changed but it seemed like too much work. The pool was nice, we enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant associated with the hotel. I’d stay there again for sure.

Best thing going for it was location. One of the very few hotels with direct beach access. Less than a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. The description when we booked said\xa0“kitchenette and cooking utensils” we assumed (wrongly) that we would be able to cook. There was a toaster, microwave and fridge and a 1 cup coffee maker, we were four adults. I had to go to the front desk to request additional dishes, cutlery and glassware as there were not 4 of anything. The grounds and walk-ways are in dire need of a rake, a sweep and a mop. The restaurant has 5 tables and is surrounded with green metal fencing, a section of it looks abandoned. Overall unappealing. The pool was nice. To be clear, we are not fussy, this was our 29th hotel in 12 weeks in Central America, all within the same price range. Probably still recovering from 2 years of shutdown, but still the place could use a little TLC.

Basic hotel but bed was comfy and shower hot. Small kitchen area in room for snacks. Easy walk to Manuel Antonio - maybe 1km Best thing is beach access. A nice pool on the property and walk out the gate to the beach which is very clean and nice. Small restaurant for breakfast and lunch. One morning there were monkeys and one even took my pancake when I was done eating! Staff was very accommodating and helped me arrange cruise Perfect base for Manuel Antonio

Me and my friend stayed for 1 week and had an amazing stay! It really is right next to the beach and so convenient which was the main selling point. You just go through a locked gate and are on the beach! There is also a rinse off spot next to the gate. The staff were all so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Some of the bed sheets had small, faded stains but that was the only issue with cleanliness we had. The beds are also pretty hard. We were able to walk to the National Park as well, and there is a bus stop right across the street! There is a beautiful outdoor pool but we didn't use it since we were so close to the beach! We felt safe the entire time including walking at night.

Overall the stay was great for the price. Staff was friendly and our room was very clean. Plus, the hotel was at the beach and a short walking distance from the Manuel Antonio park. Beds were not too comfortable - could feel the springs. No tv. A/C worked great. Bathroom smelled a bit like sewer gases. However, the pros outweigh the cons especially for the price.

We were very dissatisfied with this property. Last year we stayed here and had a completely different experience. This time the room had a really bad smell that we quickly identified as the wood from the beds eaten by termites. There were actual termites on the beds. We requested the bedding to be changed as there was blood in one of the pillow cases and dirt stains on the bedding. The staff said they were full and had no more linen so it was only partially changed (it’s low season). The bathroom expelled a sewer smell that was disgusting. To top it off the ac in the room did not work. We turned it on and went out for dinner hoping we will find the room cool and to our surprise it was hot, humid and stinky. No staff available to help at night. We had our kids take a nap, closed the bathroom door and by 4am we packed and left. It was a horrible experience. At that point I just wanted to drive away from Manuel Antonio and didn’t get to enjoy anything in the area or National Park due to this negative experience at the hotel. Make sure this has been addressed before you book this hotel. Manuel Antonio beach is one of my favorite places in the world and this time I had to skip it due to making a poor choice in the hotel unfortunately.

The hotel is in a perfect location, and it is beautiful. It is so convenient to walk out to the beach or to Manuel Antonio National Park. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent and affordable for breakfast and lunch. The rooms are decent, but could use better cleaning. We couldn’t walk on the floors without shoes, but it understandable because it is hard to keep it clean from all the beach sand. The bathroom door was filthy with many distinct fingerprints all over and just general dirt. The mattresses were comfortable, but the beds had a sheet with no bedspread. When I asked for a blanket, they offered a second sheet. We brought sleeping masks which is good because there was a lot of light coming into the room. So I definitely recommend the hotel, but bring cozy pajamas and a sleeping mask. The staff was very helpful with recommendations and I heard them helping other guests with transportation and reservations. We had a car.

Hotel is run down, in need of renovation. Rooms are not sparkling clean. We had to ask to be moved from our original room to the other. Even "cleaned" room was not clean enough. Advantages are 2 bough beds and a brilliant location on the beach, also only 15 minutes walk to Manuel Antonio.

La habitación asignada tenía mal olor, lo dijimos en el counter de servicio y nos ofrecieron poner un artefacto que generaba caliente y dejar la habitación por una hora cuando llegamos no se si era peor que cuando llegamos a la habitación, el control del aire acondicionado no servía, al próximo día cuando fui a utilizar la cafetera estaba sucia y cuando la llevo al mostrador y le pido que me la limpien la respuesta fue que porque yo decía que estaba sucia :( . El trato fue para nada bueno excepto la muchacha de mantenimiento que fue muy amable con nosotros. Las fotos que se muestran no son para nada a las habitaciones que se nos asignaron. Adicional se fue la luz y no tenían generador electrónico por lo que tuvimos que salir de los cuartos y esperar a que llegara la luz. Solo había una luz de emergencia en el pasillo.

The location is perfect! Right on the beach, easy walk to Manuel Antonio town and national park. The restaurant food is great, options for vegetarians. The room had a fridge, a microwave, and a coffeemaker (bring your own coffee/tea).

I wanted to like this much more than we did. Pros: Staff was the best we experienced during all of our travels. They really go out of their way to help. Location next to beach. Clothes drying line in shower. Cons: Beds extremely uncomfortable. Low water pressure. Shower doesn't get very hot. We typically don't look for many amenities when we travel. Our goal is to visit the location and we view our lodging as just a bed and a bathroom to crash after a full day outdoors. None of us could get a good night sleep in these beds. We wanted to check out a day early but we had already paid.

The location really is fantastic - right on a beautiful beach and walking distance to Manuel Antonio. Very few hotels are down at the beach a most are up a large hill that require driving. However, the rooms and facilities were sub-par even for the price. “Blankets” are literally just sheets of the same thin cloth as the drapes. Rooms are very basic with almost no furnishings. Bathroom looked rundown with chipped tiles, old sinks, commercial-style soap dispensers, etc. Stingy on towels. Basically the whole place needs significant updating.

“Loft room” accessed by a steep spiral staircase with a broken railing. Glass blocks in the shower and for an exterior wall. Makes for embarrassed teens not wanting to shower since they’re visible to the room. Turning on the bathroom light illuminates the entire room. No shades or blankets so we slept under towels. Low ceiling under one of the twin bed so one child hit her head a few times. Strange locked doors to the room we didn’t have keys to and no idea where they go or what they’re for. Staff indifferent to our complaints. They also charged in full 3 weeks out and said it was completely non refundable when we wanted to leave, which isn’t the policy on Expedia. It is close to the beach but where people are camping next to public bathrooms.

Very friendly and helpful front desk. The hotel is conveniently located to Manuel Antonio park entrance. We didn't have time to try the pool or the adjacent beach. I would recommend the hotel.

Fabulous location with excellent access directly to the beach. Very helpful staff. Loved that even after checking out you still could use parking, a hot shower, bathrooms, the pool, and the beach. Would absolutely stay there again!

I wanted to like this much more than we did. Pros: Staff was the best we experienced during all of our travels. They really go out of their way to help. Location next to beach. Clothes drying line in shower. Cons: Beds extremely uncomfortable. Low water pressure. Shower doesn't get very hot. We typically don't look for many amenities when we travel. Our goal is to visit the location and we view our lodging as just a bed and a bathroom to crash after a full day outdoors. None of us could get a good night sleep in these beds. We wanted to check out a day early but we had already paid.

Close to Manuel Antonio National Park and it’s on the beach. Plenty of parking. Staff needs training in customer service skills. Beatriz at the breakfast/lunch cafe was very nice, helpful and friendly. Rooms are very small. AC was great.

Very close to beach. Walking to town of Manual Antiono. We felt safe but must be careful always. Staff very helpful with info of area and tours. Small cafe next door open for breakfast and lunch. Great food and Ariel so friendly!!

I have been going to this location and bringing visitors for almost 5 years but this last visit was disappointing. Brought friends for first time visit to Costa Rica and after a long drive, the receptionist Karen denied us our room at 1:30 saying ‘it was not ready’. After waiting by the pool for 1 hour, I noticed no rooms were being cleaned. When I went up to the front desk, 2 other receptionists were checking people in. I am disappointed with Karen who had no reason to deny us our room and embarrassed that my friends had to sit hot and tired waiting for a room that did not need to be cleaned.

Not luggage service, the clerk never told me if there is an upgrade available, and the clerk of the afternoon shift, he don't want to help in any way, he just ask for the manager, and even so late they try to find a solution, the parking lot doesn't have a connection with the property and is terrible with handicapped people

Was a great location on the beach. So easy access. Rooms are 1-2 star but everything worked. Prices very high around new years. Great reception. But very poor security as often the hotel was wide open to the street at night and no one at the reception.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Verde Mar! I was pleasantly surprised that the property wasn't just located near the beach, but it is directly on it. It took me 45 seconds to walk from my room to the beach from my room, and I could literally hear the waves from where I slept. I appreciated that I could keep my items secure in the room and not have to worry about bringing it with me to the beach since I was so close to the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Maintenance staff were great, I had a slight issue with the toilet and it was fixed immediately. Property was well maintained and room was clean. There was a restaurant on the property that served great food, was very happy it was there. Everything is walkable, lots of shopping and great restaurants near by. Manuel Antonio Park was only a 10 minute walk. I would be happy to return and stay here again in the future

The location really is fantastic - right on a beautiful beach and walking distance to Manuel Antonio. Very few hotels are down at the beach a most are up a large hill that require driving. However, the rooms and facilities were sub-par even for the price. “Blankets” are literally just sheets of the same thin cloth as the drapes. Rooms are very basic with almost no furnishings. Bathroom looked rundown with chipped tiles, old sinks, commercial-style soap dispensers, etc. Stingy on towels. Basically the whole place needs significant updating.

Even though I gave the facility an average score. The location was incredible. It is right where the jungle and beach come together. We saw more monkey's and sloths at our hotel then we saw in the national park. The beach it is located on is just a natural beauty. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It could use some updating but should not prevent someone from staying there.

Location location location. Really can't beat it. The staff friendliness was pretty good, cleanliness was ok. The room was definitely not what I am used but it was a place to sleep and I knew what I was signing up for to get that location. We really loved being welcomed by capuchin monkeys by the pool. They visited everyday that we were there. Typically in the afternoon. They were super fun to watch. I recommend Dantes watersports for surf lessons or using them just for "beach days" which includes lounge chairs and umbrella, water, pineapple,boogie boards and games. They were really great and the beach days are $25 per person. Not only can you walk straight to the beach from the pool area but you can also walk to restaurants down the street. There is also one on property for breakfast and lunch, closed Wednesdays. All the restaurants we went to added the 13% tourist tax PLUS 10% tip. They give no customer service since they know they are getting that anyway but still get upset if you don't add to it. I Tip big if I get stellar cust service. I did not get that anywhere in Manuel Antonio

The place seems to be under renovations, I had a really weird smell in my bathroom. Restaurant is closed. The staff was very friendly and the beach is only one minute walk away from the rooms. Bonus, many monkeys , iguanas and other wild animals chill around and on hotel site.

Outdoor areas need some attention. Room could use a mirror over sink. Broken chairs at pool and pool area needs one paint on concrete and rails. Showing its age. Staff are wonderful. Restaurant not so great. Dirty umbrellas and junk laying around beside tables

We loved it! Walking distance to the beach. Food from the restaurant delicious and cheap, family friendly really fair price. The only down side are the towels they need to be replace becuase they are old. And will be good if they are two diffrent color from the room and swimming pool.

Location , location ! Older hotel with beach access! Overall I liked it. Our room was a little funky a loft over the lobby . Not sure how I chose that room; it was spacious and had a kitchen, but virtually no windows, next time I’d choose a regular room. I could have changed but it seemed like too much work. The pool was nice, we enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant associated with the hotel. I’d stay there again for sure.

The hotel is in a perfect location, and it is beautiful. It is so convenient to walk out to the beach or to Manuel Antonio National Park. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent and affordable for breakfast and lunch. The rooms are decent, but could use better cleaning. We couldn’t walk on the floors without shoes, but it understandable because it is hard to keep it clean from all the beach sand. The bathroom door was filthy with many distinct fingerprints all over and just general dirt. The mattresses were comfortable, but the beds had a sheet with no bedspread. When I asked for a blanket, they offered a second sheet. We brought sleeping masks which is good because there was a lot of light coming into the room. So I definitely recommend the hotel, but bring cozy pajamas and a sleeping mask. The staff was very helpful with recommendations and I heard them helping other guests with transportation and reservations. We had a car.

Do not book here. The restaurant was not good. Two ladies work there, and they do not care about you. They said, "We are not a hotel restaurant; we are private." If you are going to the beach, you have to ring the bell and wait for the door to open. There are no beach towels! The hot water was not working well. There is no safe box! There is too much beach crap in the room. The front desk was friendly. All set!

The rooms were clean the rooms are large. The water pressure in the shower was very low. There is hot water. The hotel is located next to the beach and they have a nice pool.
