I don’t like giving negative reviews but here I go. As soon as we entered the room, the smell of Pin- Sol, or other cleaner, nearly knocked us out. It didn’t go away during our overnight stay. The back window was broken so it couldn’t be locked. The air conditioner was very old and loud, and limited in usefulness. An outdoor light kept going on and off all night. The shade for door did nothing to block out this light. We put a towel over the shad, still no luck. Our sleep was ruined. Extremely disappointing considering the price we paid!?!?! Wow. Should be illegal.

Scramble parking plus spots too small The structure is at the edge of hiway in front but back is very steep. Units are contiguous and built on rock. Not much can be done about terrain. Wooden steps are terraced and wide. Beds in our unit were horrible and are not made up but unit was very clean, minimal and served our needs for a two day, two night stay. Very quiet. Checking in and out fast and simple. Would stay again.

We had a very enjoyable 3-day stay. The room was very clean and spacious, we even enjoyed our morning coffee at the cute patio set right outside our room. Parking can be a little tricky if you have a truck, but we will definitely stay there again.

Room was clean but not as shown on website. No ice available on site. Exterior of unit in disrepair and many of the pictures shown on the website were not what was there. The onsite restaurant was a takeout only. The coffee inroom was a french press, kettle and an undetermined amount of coffee in a packet. Advertised a view that didn't exist. For the price of this room, it was absolutely not worth it.

This place has a load of potential! It has lovely courtyards and has clearly been renovated recently. Staff at the main desk were polite and welcoming. The room had a strong odour of cleaning products so bad that my chest was burning even after airing the room out. The room came with a balcony overlooking the lake with a cute little table and 2 chairs.

Beautiful location but disappointed in the upkeep of their grounds, cleanliness of rooms and lack of availability of basic hotel facilities. Landscaping not maintained, room was poorly cleaned (hairs in tub, carpets dark with dirt), room was extremely poorly light - had the queen suite, but felt like I was in a dark cave, restaurant has no dining in anymore - no breakfast available), no phones in room to call front desk, no vending or ice machine that I could find. Location is beautiful, but new management have not put any TLC into the place for years unfortunately.

Upon arrival our room had an extremely strong chemical odor and the floor was very dirty and full of dirty foot prints. The toilet seat had two dirty footprints on it and the coffee and wine glasses had been used. The bed sheets and pillow cases had stains on them as well as the walls had spills and dirty hand prints all over them. The front desk closes at 9 so we had no one to contact about this. I called the next morning and asked to either switch rooms or have someone clean it again. They did not have any other rooms so they said they would clean it. When we returned the sheets had been changed but nothing else was clean. They insisted it was clean and refused to come and look. They did not care anything was dirty even after I showed them the pictures. It was once a beautiful hotel and has a great location but I recommend staying away from this hotel

Room was cozy/comfy but the room above us was loud. Anytime someone would walk it sounded like they were moving furniture. Can hear everything. The furnace/AC unit is also very loud and looks very old-needs cleaning. The bed sheet on one of the beds was stained. I put the other sheet on top of it just incase it wasn’t clean. Otherwise nice location, for the most part was a clean room.

The air conditioner was on - also a bonus BUT they had not cleaned the air con so the bed and floor was covered with dead bugs Cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere Thick cobweb behind bathroom door Floors filthy - a damp towel was proof as it became quickly Brown Shower did not drain and the drain cover was thick pink bacteria Bed was comfy and nice thick pillows - great ! Deck had not been swept in a long time and there was someone else's dingy towel on the chair Coffee spills on wall and generally not well cleaned in corners etc It's takes nothing to clean properly French press was great to have Property lake view and the new design look great just needs some loving care For $300+ I slept well but didn't enjoy the stay worried about the cleanliness

The location is great but is far from restaurants or attractions. The rooms are large and well decorated but don't have clearwindows! There is just one opaque window next to the door. This makes them very dark with minimal lighting and ours had a burnt out lightbulb in the living area which didn't help. The biggest negative is that when you check in, the office is a Chinese food restaurant. The staff were busy with the restaurant and we felt like an inconvenience checking in. The restaurant is the only food option unless you drive elsewhere and it had a Conditional Pass notice from the Health Dept posted. Not great. The rooms could have felt quite luxurious but touches like cheap shampoo and minimal coffee for the coffee press for 2 cups, inadequate number of clothes hangers, just felt like corners were being cut. This was one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in on a cross-Canada 2 month tour. At this time, I don’t think it is good value, but with a little attention to detail like reopening the junk filled breakfast room and a lovely patio that is blocked off, being more generous with room amenities and adding some additional lighting, and welcoming guests in an Inn atmosphere, instead of a take away restaurant, it still has great potential. Okay for 1 night but I wouldn't stay longer.

Our rooms were spatious and comfortable, set up with a seating area and a separated sleeping area. Each area had it's own TV with good cable channel selection. Wifi was reliable. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Nice view of Lake of the Woods right out side of the window. The rooms are provided with a french press and some fresh roasted coffee from their custom coffee roaster! Fantastic! The only disappointment was that the carpet is quite dirty in the room I had, and the alarm clock was not great.

Very easy and friendly check in process. The room is spacious with a separate sitting area from the bedroom. The unit has high vaulted ceiling making it even more airy. We are late October so cannot speak of the outdoor amenities. But this was a cozy place during a cold fall evening!

Very nice room. Quiet area but a bit noisy from ppl walking around in the room upstairs. Easy check in. Was not told to leave the key in the room. Tried to bring it to front desk but they were closed. So we had to drive back down to room and leave the key. Communication at check in could be better. Awesome coffee and French press was delicious

Would have rated this excelent except that we arrived 1 hour earlier than check in off season, motel clearly not full and they made us wait and come back to check in when they could have just checked us in as a courtesy after our long drive. Even when we came back at 10 min to 3 had to mention again, check in was at 3. Very rude in that respect. Too bad.

I booked on Expedia same day. It was the last room within 300 KM. I arrived via taxi at 11 PM to check in. No one was there, the rep on the phone said I didn't have a booking and blamed me (for booking the wrong day - which I did not), then a glitch with Expedia. I stood outside for almost an hour waiting for a taxi to pick me up again. Hotel is far from main town Kenora, it cost me a $30 taxi from the BP's in town. It took a cab back (another $30). I called every hotel within an hour drive of Kenora and they were all sold out. Im sure this place gave up my room to make extra cash. Expedia couldn't help either but offered a $100 gift card. Eventually the waitress took pity on me and offered me her floor. Thank good for at least one good person in a small town. Do not trust this hotel. I will never book them again.

I called every hotel within an hour drive of Kenora and they were all sold out. Im sure this place gave up my room to make extra cash. Expedia couldn't help either but offered a $100 gift card. Eventually the waitress took pity on me and offered me her floor. Thank good for at least one good person in a small town. Do not trust this hotel. I will never book them again.

The room itself was clean and comfortable. But the property is unattended overnight and through the morning. We checked out and realized that we left something in the room. After banging on the doors of the residence and calling the number several times for over an hour we still couldn’t get in touch with anyone. If you accidentally locked yourself out of your room you could never get back in. Seems incredibly unsafe and unprofessional.

Exactly what we were looking for - a clean, comfortable place to spend the night. Because we were arriving late, they called us and explained how self check-in would work and where to park, this was very helpful and made our check in smooth.

Property has excellent value. But my complaint is that I reserve hotels for our employees and this hotel only accepts payment in person. I can reserve and hold the room with my card online but for actual payment they will not charge my card that I used to hold the room. This is frustrating as employees shouldn’t have to deal with this

Comfortable and peaceful stay. Pet friendly and a beautiful location. The blue lights along the driveway and stairs made our entry after sunset easy and safe. We were texted instructions before checking which helped a lot. We’ll stay here again on our next trip through.

The location is great but is far from restaurants or attractions. The rooms are large and well decorated but don't have clearwindows! There is just one opaque window next to the door. This makes them very dark with minimal lighting and ours had a burnt out lightbulb in the living area which didn't help. The biggest negative is that when you check in, the office is a Chinese food restaurant. The staff were busy with the restaurant and we felt like an inconvenience checking in. The restaurant is the only food option unless you drive elsewhere and it had a Conditional Pass notice from the Health Dept posted. Not great. The rooms could have felt quite luxurious but touches like cheap shampoo and minimal coffee for the coffee press for 2 cups, inadequate number of clothes hangers, just felt like corners were being cut. This was one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in on a cross-Canada 2 month tour. At this time, I don’t think it is good value, but with a little attention to detail like reopening the junk filled breakfast room and a lovely patio that is blocked off, being more generous with room amenities and adding some additional lighting, and welcoming guests in an Inn atmosphere, instead of a take away restaurant, it still has great potential. Okay for 1 night but I wouldn't stay longer.

I stay every year at the Timberland the rooms are large and clean. Keewatin Beach is just around the corner. The staff are welcoming and cleaning staff are amazing. If your lucky to stay in the back side it is quiet. We will be back next summer

This place is great for its value. The only two feedback we had was the room smells like Pine Sol and it was very strong. The other is the female lady at the check in counter/restaurant was not as friendly as the male staff. They could be the owners or managers. We ordered Chinese food from their restaurant and it was delicious! The breaded pork is very tender! Overall we had a great stay!

Balcony was not clean and furniture was uncomfortable! Parking great! Room baseboards could use a cleaning and floor a better clean. When I walk into the foyer I almost walked back out for it looked like it had not been vacuumed for at least a whole month! It was way over priced.

The property was quite old and tired and it felt isolated. No restaurant close by. Although you could drive into Kenora if you had a car, it was a challenge to find a restaurant that had working air conditioning during the heat wave we were experiencing. There was no breakfast available on site…no liquor licence. Our room was tidy and reasonably clean however the shower curtain was hanging from a rod that could fall off at any time! No soap on the first night…fortunately we had our own! The room was functional but drab and the only window was at the top of the entrance door and most of it was frosted to prevent peepers I suppose! Access to the lake was obscure and limited to a tiny beach, which I think was accessible to public. Virtually no view from the tiny door window which overlooked the parking lot. The lake was separated by a road at a lower elevation and was obscured from view by a stand of trees. Needless to say we won’t be rushing back!
