Trying to save money for a very brief stay in Ely, I chose the Bristlecone Motel through a third party vendor. I arrived late in the evening and staff checked me in pretty easily, assigned a room near the road on the second floor. I lugged my belongings over the partially mowed lawn, stepping over hoses and tools left out apparently overnight, then up a set of rickety stairs to the balcony. If I hadn't been so tired and the stay only 12 hours, I would have asked for a different room. 217 was poorly maintained and not recently cleaned, with dust on the furnishings and questionable sticky smudges on the walls, the bathroom door, and the floor. The beds and linens appeared crisp and clean though, so I wearily took a shower and went to bed. So much road noise, but the roar of the ancient air conditioner drowned out the trucks. Good thing I am a world class sleeper! I didn't try out the breakfast or coffee, opted for an early exit and a stop at Beans and Brews. I'll be coming back to Ely for future business, but I certainly would not stay here again. Wish you didn't have to pay $200 for a decent clean room these days, but I think you actually do. Next time I won't be so cheap!

Great place for the money, very inexpensive. But, one of the outlets did not work so coffee maker and blow dryer did not work. Internet signal was so weak, we could not get our iPhones and laptop computer to connect. So, we gave up on that. Staff very friendly, though.

I liked the bathmat in the tub. I am uncomfortable showing in a tub without grab bars, but the mat made it easier. The bathroom was mostly clean. No mold. The sink did not drain, but they came and fixed that right away. The floor in the bedroom was dirty. Had some kind of grit, and the table and sink were all gritty, kind like sand. The towels were on their last legs, and bath towels were quite small. Sheets were clean, no bed bugs , but were thin and needed to be updated. Only a very thin blanket on the bed, and the bed was quite sloppy, like someone had barely thrown it together. It was okay for me to shower and sleep, but not good to spend any time in the room. VERY small TV, and no USB ports. I would not stay here again.
