Bristlecone Motel

First impression: staff was not properly dressed. Ice machine did not work, which was a huge inconvenience! Weatherstripping around door was partially unattached with a hole big enough for a mouse to come in. Staff was not on site from 8 PM until 7:00 AM. Breakfast was supposed to be at 7:00 AM. A staff person showed up at the 7:01 wearing pajama pants and had kids in tow. Needless to say, coffee was not brewed, and all there was was old fruit and instant oatmeal packets were hard. Needless to say, we will never be back nor will we recommend the place to anybody we care about.

They need better pillows, the ones they had were for back sleepers only. The room was hot and you couldn't change the temperature.

The bathroom sink and toilet were dirty, I couldn't get the air conditioner to work and the staff was not helpful with the A/C. When found room keys from the prior guest still in the room. I had to argue with Expedia to get a refund, but the staff did tell expedia it was okay to refund my room

Staff was great upon check-in. Room conditions weren't great. Carpet was stained, rust in mini fridge . Just felt dirty. Bed was SUPER comfortable. Location is right on a main corridor so sleeping was interrupted with traffic noise.

Older motel in definite need to refurbishment. Would have been fine, since I was just looking for a comfortable bed enough on a long trip. However, the heating and air conditioning units were a problem. The air conditioning unit was located so high on the wall that I couldn’t reach the controls that were set very cold. It also was very loud. I unplugged the unit at the suggestion of the receptionist. The heater control did not work properly. I set it for 70. In the middle of the night I woke up to a room that was near 80. So I turned that way down and had to plug the air conditioner in again to cool the room down. Once I did that and cooled the room, I unplugged it and tried to go back to sleep. The end result is that I did not have the restful sleep I needed to drive a long distance the next day. In addition, their breakfast was basically some prepackaged pastries. I’m sure it’s difficult to compete with other hotels/motels in the area, but I will skip this one the next time after my experience.
