Upon arrival we found that the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The buildings are all single story so you can park right outside your room door, and the rooms are clean and quiet. There’s a restaurant right on the property that is open from breakfast time until 8PM and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The only negatives I found were the mattresses were old and squeaky, and the shower/bathtub prefab unit had multiple cracks that were filled with huge amounts of caulking. With a little bit of updating/repairs, this property would definitely be a 5 star accommodation.

The motel is located right on the Cabot Trail with the ocean just a short walk away. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant had great food at good value, we loved the little patio area to have a drink and unwind from a day on the road.

The property is a little date, and likely only open on a seasonal basis ... but it certainly met our requirements for a one-night stay. The staff were absolutely superb, some of the friendliest people we met in Nova Scotia, and the food in the on-site restaurant was fantastic. My wife ordered a hot turkey sandwich and I ordered a plate of snow crab. Both meals were just excellent. The property is in a great location along the Cabot Trail as well. Very convenient and close to the Skyline Trail. I would certainly recommend this property, and would like to thank the staff for their warmth and hospitality.

The Mountainview Motel is an ideal motorcyclist stop-over while riding the Cabot Trail. Bikes or cars can be parked in front of the rooms and there chairs are provided in front of the rooms to relax and take in the scenery. There is a restaurant onsite with live music, that was great after a day’s riding. I would rate the property one star higher if they provided USB outlets in the rooms, like some of the other hotels along the route

This place needs updating, not only in the rooms, but in the housekeeping area. When we got into our room, the musty, old smoke smell hit us. The bathtub had a dead worm and a live beetle in it. After getting rid of those, we saw another worm and beetle come up through the drain. The bathtub looked like it was not cleaned, had dirt marks or stains from the suction cups on the bathmat. There was a wet towel hanging on the rack, either it was put back up after the previous occupant left, which means it wasn’t washed, or it was put up wet, but why? The other towels were dry. The window latches were all broken so the windows at ground level don’t lock, which you can see from the outside. Add there was hair on the chair, not ours, because we just got there. So the cleaning had not been done very well. Wallpaper peeling and ripping off, and the tub surround was all cracked and repaired very badly . Worst experience I’ve ever had in any rented room!

The grounds were beautiful and the mountain view was great. This was an adequate room. No fridge or microwave. White towels were dingy and grey. Bedspread edging was unravelling. There is a restaurant on the premises that served good food. Staff were friendly.

Mountain View was an accurate description . . . Except for the fog. Reasonable restaurant on site. Water temperature varied a lot. Great location. Appreciated the Keurig in unit. But, no fridge . . . :(

The motel was older but well kept and clean. The mattress needs to be replaced. Way to soft and sunk in the middle. The room was quiet and had a comfy couch with a throw to snuggke with. The restaurant in site was reasonably priced with good food and wonderful staff.

Loved the amazing view from our bed! Literally laying in bed staring through the window at the fall leaves was breathtaking! The young erver working with the cabot trail t shirt and stretched ears was absolutely AMAZING! Customer service and friendliness through the roof - give them a raise ASAP! The bed we had was honestly awful... completely sunk in in the middle so my partner and i were sunk in.. awful sleep. Need new bed in room #1 ASAP. The bathtub was awful looking and the lack of fridge jn the room was frustrating considering there are no places to buy food or drinks in pleasant bay so you need to being your own while doing the trail. The price for one night doesnt reflect the comfort you wish, especially for a bed and fridge.

Great location on the Cabot Trail. The restaurant on site had excellent food. The room we stayed in had no fridge or microwave. Room was a little run down but clean. The bed was very uncomfortable and in need of a mattress replacement.

We enjoyed our stay at the mountain view. It wasn’t perfect but provided a nice night for us as we travelled the trail. Pros - clean, dining on site, beautiful natural surroundings, friendly staff. Cons - Air conditioner loud as a jet engine, easy to hear neighbours (talking, showering, AC). Would stay again, perhaps in the fall when AC wasn’t needed :)

A rustic hotel that is in a perfect location for visiting the area. We booked here because of the location. The check it was good and the people were friendly. They got us in quick, and gave us the information we needed about the area. For us the room and bathroom were clean. The beds were comfortable, nothing sticking out or hard. The showers worked with no issues and gave us plenty of hot water. The restaurant was nice, the staff were very pleasant and the food was good. The only complaint I would have is there is no fridge or microwave in the room. We would definitely stay here again.

This property isn’t great for what it is. I’ve stayed in plenty of motels and this one is not up to a good or decent standard. You can feel the springs through the mattress, the towels are yellow and over used, the room has a smell to it, no mini fridge, bathroom is gross. The shower uses an unbelievable amount of water and it like a pressure washer. We tried the restaurant and I would say don’t bother. I had chicken fingers and a salad and the salad was bitter with no flavour. My friend had fish and chips and said the fish tasted old and the batter looked way over fried. Staff was friendly but over all the stay was nothing special. The wifi also doesn’t reach the bedroom and theirs no service so prepare to be off the grid.

The room was good and the property was lovely and great for our dog to get her exercise. But the food was not good. Everything we ordered, liver and seafood platter were both very dry, over cooked and not really edible. We did not have the lobster, that may have been a better choice.

Family-run old-style motel in the heart of Cape Breton national park so if you are looking for a place to crash while hiking perfectly set. But property is badly in need of an overhaul - rooms in poor condition, mattress needs to be replaced and shower needs to be replaced (literally duck-taped together and we were afraid to use it). There is a restaurant on-site which was great as limited options close-by but food is at best average. Won't be back
