Everything was very clean. Staff was helpful and nice. The pool area was like a mini resort. We will definitely be going again. I would have given cleanliness 5 stars, but I would suggest they switch out the shag rugs, its super hard to get those rugs clean.

Loved the hotel. Room was very nice. Like there was an area to sit outside. Disappointed no breakfast there. Parking was only included for an hour after checkout then it was 10 an hour. Not ideal

Super clean, beautiful hotel right in downtown Grand Bend. Walkable to restaurants, shops and beach plus short drive to the Pinery Provincial Park. Friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic outdoor area for dining and relaxing.

The amenities such as the pool, fire pits and free parking were the best part of this property! The rooms were very very small and only good to sleep and shower- challenging with a toddler but was good enough for a short one night stay. I’d consider a larger King suite if I come again.

This property is beautiful and the rooms are clean. The pool is nice but there are too many unsupervised spashing children whose parents have no regard for other guests. The hotel has all these rules that no one supervises or enforces. Balls, floating devices, kids jumping in and out constantly. Also, people who are not guests from the street just walk into the pool area and can access the really nice cabana. I did not like that at all. I highly suggest staffing the pool area better and having oversight before an incident or injury occurs. This would permit registered guests at the pool/ cabana to have a more relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We absolutely love this property nothing could be improved upon. It’s a 5 star experience all the way. This is our third stay in 3 yrs with the addition of the swimming pool this year and the cabana with bar and food it tipped the scale it’s a 5 plus plus.

Our favorite hotel in all of Ontario! Everything is always amazing at the Colonial. My only complaint is the parking rate after you check out. There really should be a daily maximum like any other lot.

Staff were friendly and It has a great outdoor space to sit and enjoy some fires but the room was not as it was portrayed on the site. We selected a mid-high price range room and unfortunately it was dirty and more like a cheap motel than the luxury look on the website. We understand that it is Grand Bend in summer season and that staff are busy and swamped but for the cost per night it should be at least clean.

In room 111 we had a drip from the ceiling that wet the bed and floor of the room. It started in the middle of the night and we lost sleep. When we brought this to the attention of the staff in the morning he informed us that there had been complaints about this before. If this is an ongoing issue why am I paying a premium price to stay there? The cost is above other hotels in the area so I expect a level of cleanliness. The shower head had mold in it but we didn't notice until after our shower. I can tell no one pays attention to that detail. I will not be revisiting this location. I would like a refund from this experience. At least then I would consider coming back. If they don't clean up after their own rooms I would expect that they don't offer refunds. A beautiful place that is severely disappointing.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and we will likely be back. The hotel is sectioned off into a couple two story buildings which helped with the resort feel. The lobby was beautiful and the free coffee was good from coffee culture. The ice water there too was welcome after such a heat wave. The outside grounds are also beautiful and a lot of thought was put into landscaping. Big fan of the pool which had a bar attached that you could order drinks and food. The staff was nice. The rooms were fine. I wasn't a fan of the shampoo. I don't expect much from a hotel but my hair became extremely dry after using it. On the second floor, there's sections of the floor which slope and slant. The floor is not level. There were issues with this in our room as well, where there were sudden indents. The floor had also not been well cleaned. Lots of sand and our feet became dirty in the first few hours we were there. Overall a good experience.

My stay at the Colonial Hotel was a pleasant experience. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, making sure all our needs were met with a smile. The pool area was absolutely beautiful—well-maintained and a perfect place to relax. Overall, the property was very clean and well cared for, which added to the comfort of our stay. I would definitely be returning in the future.

Outstanding hotel. Only complaint is that the blinds in the rooms are not black out.

The room has no view, windows were blocked by a metal wall. However the room and washroom were quite clean!

No black out curtains in the room and they have very bright spotlights on the hotel all night. They turn them on around 11 and they dont turn off until afte 5am. Im told it's for security..ok well then do what hotels do and get black out curtains. The had blinds you would hang in a window, not vertial blinds or curtains made for a sliding glass door. Even the motel 6 had black out curtains. What they had up, you couldn't walk in and out of your balcony you pay extra for unless you put the curtain all the way up but then people on the road would see you. Who was the mastermind behind the curtain choice? See photos Couldn't sleep entire stay because of the light. Also its very noisy, people in and out, slamming doors, yelling drunk all night long. No sound proofing at all. Rainshower is horrible as well. Zero water pressure. Cannot recommend unless you don't have plans to sleep.

Great place to stay! Room was very spacious and clean. Great location for hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint I have is the noise from the start up of the air conditioning.

Rooms facing main road extremely noisy, will keep you up most of the night. Staff is excellent, especially in the pool, bar area. Chris in particular, great manager. Leaving parking lot is somewhat of a chore if your state or province doesn’t have a front license plate.

It was a quick stay, check in was easy once we found the lobby. It's deceiving as it's in the building that says Gables Suites. Standard Queen room was very small and the bed seemed smaller than a queen. We were on the 2nd floor with no elevators. It's a bit of a maze finding your room but the room was clean and modern with a small bathroom. Perfect room for what we needed. Just a place to lay your head after a full day in Grand Bend.

Had a wonderful one stay at the Colonial the week after Thanksgiving. Room was clean, quite large and quiet. Great location and right across the street from this cozy little pub called the Paddington. You should check it out!

Great location and very friendly staff. Room was small but clean

We loved the Colonial for its location and walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Newly renovated, the beds are comfortable, bathroom beautiful and the outdoor area with tables for eating is great. The fire tables at night also great! Only issue in room 101 was lack of soundproofing. It faced a busy road and we could hear every vehicle go by at night. It felt like the people who were talking outside the room were sitting on the end of our bed and they stayed up until after 2am. A soundproof door would make a great difference!

close to Main street. Clean One of the A/C is not quiet. Had to turn it off to be able to sleep. since we got a room close to the street, it was quite noisy

Very friendly staff and when they found out we were celebrating our 30 year wedding anniversary we were offer a nice bottle of wine then an upgrade to our room 😀

Great location, but watch out if you're booking on a travel site like e-x-p-e-d-i-a ... I booked a room for 3 people, the hotel took the booking, when I got there, there were no rooms for us, so instead of kindly offering a cot for our son as the 3rd person, they charged us $50/night (lol, for a cot - ever heard of that high before?), that's $100 out of my pocket that I now have to deal with expedia to fight to get back. If I ran a hotel, I wouldn't gouge a customer $100 just because they're stuck in a jam, I'd offer it to them for free and make sure the expedia thing was corrected so that nobody else gets screwed over. THAT's customer service. The manager had no interest in helping fix the situation, blamed expedia, and they made another $100. Is the $100 to the hotel bottom line really worth it? Anyway, I'll spend a few hours dealing with expedia trying to get my money back, and I know I will only get a credit at best. Please ignore the 3 stars on the SERVICE, everyone else there was SUPER friendly and helpful, it was just the front desk manager who kind of put a damper on things with how she dealt with the error- it came across in an "IDGAF" way. I'm normally a 5 star review kind of guy, like I did with the awesome coffee place and amazing restaurant we went to there, but I did want to share this warning to others - don't trust the outside booking sites with this hotel until they work things out, or be prepared to be out $100. I absolutely DID book for 3 people.

Staff and service were very friendly and accomodating. The assigned room had a couple of small problems but they quickly upgraded us to much larger accomodations without our asking. Excellent staff.

Fridge in room was noisy. . Could not figure out how to work the TV. Front desk staff at check in was not very pleasant.

Property itself is nice and clean, convenient, easy parking. Ladies at front desk could benefit from hospitality and customer service courses. Not very friendly at all. First impressions are everything and did not get a friendly vibe from start to finish.

We weren’t too impressed by the fact that you had to go to the lobby for coffee in the morning. Also not too impressed with the doors slamming and people yelling in the hallways throughout the night. It took hours before security came to resolve the issue. The doors need to be adjusted so as not to slam. So, not a good rest.

Great location: About seven minutes' walk to the beach. Parking: Excellent. Located outside the property and is included in the hotel rate. Hotel seems to have been refurbished recently. Looks more modern and bright. . The staff were friendly and helpful. Slightly noisy at times during the night due to its location. Overall a nice stay.

We had a wonderful time at the Colonial Hotel. The hotel is located within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. It was a little noisy due to the location, however everything else made up for it.

This is a great spot for anyone who is hoping to make use of Grand Bend's downtown. It was a great location, very easy check in! The room was very clean and spacious. Would happily come back and stay here again!

We had an amazing time at the Colonial hotel. The staff was phenomenal. Everyone seemed really welcoming and also happy to be working there. The amenities are incredible - we loved the pool and all the outdoor seating, and the fire pits, and the unique drinks, and great, reasonably priced food menu. The decor is awesome. We already booked for next year.

Highly recommend this gem of a spot. Pool, bar and food top notch. Perfect getaway to enjoy Lake Huron and Grand Bend.

Although the room was a little small (we booked a basic queen), it was clean & quiet. The grounds have seating for guests to use - with firepits and cozy andoranduk chairs. The pool was a pleasant surprise - bar/restaurant was great and not overpriced. The staff were excellent - very helpful and kind.

Such a lovely place, and staff. Always a pleasant experience. The added cabana pool and bar just elevated the experience. Honestly, best drinks in the town, and great food as well. This is now our go-to. It feels like a tropical getaway. Great vibe overall!
