Lovely little boutique hotel in a great location. I was worried about noise (being directly opposite Ostbahnhof) but the sound proofing was very good and we hardly heard anything from outside despite it being Oktoberfest. As other reviews have noticed, having to go down stairs for a cup of tea can be a little inconvenient but the snack bar itself was generous and well stocked. Getting a cup of coffee in the morning while breakfast is on in the same area is possible but did feel awkward. I think having a little tea and coffee station on each floor would alleviate all these issues while still avoiding the fridge in each room problem (I have stayed in other hotels with the coffee station per floor thing and actually prefer that to in room as you have a better tea selection and don't have to wait or request a refill on the one type of tea you actually use). The rooms were all individually decorated and all the ones we saw while they were being cleaned we just as nice as ours. The staff were all lovely too. We will stay here again next time we're in Munich.

MOMA 1890 is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. It is modern but with an old world charm. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. It’s nice to have the lounge area where there are drinks and snacks. Alcoholic beverages are by the honor system—put your name in the box with what you had to drink. And much cheaper than going to a bar and more comfortable. The breakfast is great! The hotel is right next to the Munich east train station where you can get trains to anywhere. The train to the airport takes about 22 minutes and is very cheap. There are parks around the area where you can stroll.

The location of MoMa1890 is unbeatable - literally a minute’s walk from the Ostbahnhof, so incredibly easy to get to and from the airport on the S-Bahn or around the city, in a much nicer area than the sketchy area around the central train station and with plenty of nice restaurants and cafes nearby. It’s a charming little hotel and offers really good value for money for such a central, convenient location: my Urban Single room on the top floor was fairly quiet, much more spacious than I’d expected and very comfortably appointed including with good air conditioning (a must in the brutal heatwave Europe was experiencing at the end of June) and L’Occitane toiletries. There is complimentary mineral water provided in the room and you can help yourself to soft drinks and snacks from the first floor lounge at any time. Reception is manned 24 hours and I felt the property was very safe and secure. The breakfast buffet was very good but quite expensive at €21 so if you are on a budget you might prefer to grab breakfast to go from one of the many places in the station. I booked last minute as I needed somewhere to stay overnight in Munich due to a flight cancellation and MoMa1890 turned out to be the perfect place to base myself - I’d happily stay here again if I return to Munich.

This hotel was wonderful for our Munich stay. Literally steps from the Munich Ost train station it couldn't have been more convenient when arriving by train and leaving to the airport by S8. Clean, quiet, modern with friendly staff. Neighborhood has many great restaurants within walking distance. And they will sell you a public transport day pass ticket at the front desk for the tram that stops at the front door.

The MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel is a little hidden, but it is conveniently located just across from the Ostbanhof train station. The buffet breakfast was expensive (20 Euros), and the elevator was tiny, but the room was comfortable and relatively quiet, and the staff very helpful. Recommended as a convenient 3 star option.
