Avalon Hotel Downtown St. Petersburg

Overall our stay was pleasant. The parking situation however was frustrating. One night we had to park across the street in a business lot. Next night we drove around the block a few times and doubled park in the lot until someone pulled out.

Front Desk Staff, not overly friendly . Didn’t offer any insight of what to do or what was happening around the area. He was consistent for all 3 days. Parking was a challenge, pool party at the Hollander use a lot of the parking area for the weekend, ugh!

Stayed at the Avalon for one night to go to a concert at the theatre. Super clean, friendly staff, great atmosphere for adults. Sister hotel next door with two great bars, restaurant, and little bakery. Shuttle service provided for free anywhere within 20 minutes. 5-7 happy hour wine and champagne. Definitely would go back.

If i could give this hotel more than 5 stars i would!! It is the CUTEST, most beautifully decorated boutique hotel and so close to everything! The front desk staff and restaurant/bar staff are AMAZING! Check in/out were so easy. Coffee in the lobby in the mornings, a little special treat in the evenings. Coffee shop and full restaurant and bar (check out their daily specials) nextdoor. There is spa, pool and gym access. Patio and lobby area for sitting in the AM and/or evenings (take a good book or maybe some card games). A shuttle that will take you within 10 blocks but it is walking distance to pretty much everything and there is other transportation in the area (bus, trolly) as well. FREE parking! We will definitely be staying again!!

Amazing hotel. The decor was so cute. We enjoyed the outdoor porch at night, relaxing on the comfy couches afternoon champagne cocktail hour from 5 to 7 was a treat. Beds were super comfortable amazing breakfast next-door at their sister hotel, the Hollander we could walk to the Palladium to see our concert on Saturday night. It was a fabulous birthday weekend and free shuttle service anywhere within St Pete.

The hotel is super cute, and the service is phenomenal! This was our second time staying here, and we will definitely stay here again. Plenty of restaurants and shops are within walking distance. As they are sister properties, you also have use of the pool at the hotel next door. The pool bar is amazing, with plenty of food and drink options!

Great location, free, on-site parking, friendly staff, very clean, we had a very nice dinner at the taproom next-door, which is part of the same hotel. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The room is very small, especially the bathroom, but we were only there for one night. I probably would not recommend it for long stays.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Avalon!! It definitely won't be my last time. Everything was lovely! The staff was very friendly and my stay was quiet and peaceful. I dined twice at the sister hotel's restaurant right next door at The Hollander. He food was delicious and atmosphere and server was great. I was there on business and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee time daily, and happy hour every evening were also nice perks and very relaxing. My mattress was comfortable and I slept well! This hotel has an eclectic charm and lots of character and downtown. I highly recommend it!

The room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Bit of a musty smell because it was an older building. Reasonably priced for the area.

There was about 12 inches of soap scum on the base of the shower walls. Urine smell outside at entry door., not welcoming on both days. Initially I let it slide as it was late check in and figured someone could have just urinated there as the unit was close to the street, however by day two I realized it was due to poor upkeep. Unswept leaves for both days at entry to suite. Lobby smelled awesome, but this was not continued into the room I was assigned. The facility looks great, housekeeping was a severe letdown.

Older hotel but well maintained, that being said it has small rooms and baths so be ready for that. The staff is friendly and efficient and the room more than met our needs during our stay. We would be happy to return again to the Avalon.

The rooms are very old, dingy and dirty. Left after 1 hour of checking in.

I couldn’t close the windows because the mold smell. Properly is not maintained.

The hotel is adorable, however, upon checking into my room I noticed that the window was leaking and splashing all over the blinds, curtains, table, and carpet. It was raining fairly hard, but this water was coming through the wood window trim and not the window itself. The room did smell slightly musty, so unsure of how long that window had been leaking into the carpet for.

Lovely inn style hotel in the “Burg.” We really enjoyed our stay. The Avalon was the perfect location for our trip. It was central to all the things we wanted to do. We felt safe and the area was clean and quiet. The front desk staff were super friendly and detailed perfectly all the amenities the Avalon had to offer. Parking was easy, room access was easy, room was clean and cozy. We’d definitely stay again

The biggest complaint...the room had no accessible power outlets in the main sleeping/living area. Unable to charge cell phones. The closet had no light. The A/C unit is wall mounted and noisy.

We don't usually stay at 'boutique' hotels but thought we'd try this place. As others have said the rooms are small but it was fine. Bed was very comfortable. The only problem we had was street noise as our room was directly over the front entrance (rm 210) You can hear other guests walking in the room above and people slamming their doors late at night for some reason. I found it quite overpriced and probably wouldn't stay here again based on that. Staff was great, the bar has a solid selection of beers and it's a cool place to hang out at.

We usually stay at the Hollander next door (same owner) and this time decided to try the Avalon. Loved the funky lobby decore and daily hour. Found it more laid back and quieter than the Hollander given there is ko bar or restaurant. My only minor complaint is that the room could use more lighting. It’s a bit dark specially when you are trying to apply make up. Location is great. You can park your car and walk everywhere in downtown St Pete.

A nice hotel for a one night stay. Cozy room, walking distance to many places. Only complaint there’s no fridge or microwave. Otherwise for a place to sleep it’s nice

Cute lobby, friendly front desk personnel and very clean. The only compliant is noise levels needs a little noise reduction between floors.

Avalon and the "sister" hotel next door (Hollander) are very convenient for Tampa Bay Rays games. One nice amenity on Fridays and Saturdays is a free shuttle to and from the games. The Avalon itself has almost no amenities but as part of the complex with The Hollander, all of the Hollander amenities , including the pool, are available to Avalon guests. The Avalon is very basic and the rooms and room bathrooms are very small but the staff were helpful and pleasant.. My main beef with the room was the poor lighting. The room had one lamp and a fan light and was very dark at night. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the large flat screen TV had pretty much every channel you could want.

It’s a beautiful old hotel. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. Larissa, who checked us in, was extremely helpful. She even went to the restaurant in the hotel next door to pick up dinner for us and brought it back to our room. That meant the world to me since I need to use a walker and arrived here worn out after a 10 hour long drive. Kudos to Larissa

Front desk staff gets an A+ Rating!!! Great people!! Also Dee at the Hollander House bakery is wonderful. Great personality. Everyone there at both places are outstanding! Really enjoyed our stay.

I've stayed here before. Really nice and clean. Very comfortable. Feels safe. Nice aesthetic. The free water bottles is cool. Also the fact that they do a courtesy call to see when you're checking in to let you know where to go after hours is great and top tier! Would chose this place any day!

While staying at the Avalon directly after getting married, a staff member barged into mine & my new wife's room to clean without knocking or announcing herself whatsoever. A "do not disturb" door hang was hanging on the door handle. It made us very uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. While the hotel was nice, it has left us with an uneasy feeling for hotels in general.

Will stay here again! Can’t wait for our next trip! This property was such a pleasant place to stay while we were in town! It’s an older hotel so it was a bit smaller but it was cozy and comfortable for a couple! There was little to no noise/traffic in the hotel which was a nice break from the daily bustle. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Ethan was there on our check-in day and he showed us the area and recommended activities nearby on a map. The King sized bed was very comfortable and the room had nearly everything we’d like. The only things I would say was missing from the room might be a small safe and mini fridge so that some valuables and food items can be safely stored. The bathroom was a bit small but offered a nice shelf above the sink for storage and a decent sized shower. There was some minor wear and tear in little spots of the room but nothing alarming or unsafe. They had complimentary water bottles available 24/7 in the lobby as well as citrus water throughout the day. Additionally, there was complimentary hot coffee available in the morning and complimentary white wine/champagne available from 5-7pm. The sister hotel (Hollander) is next door. The Hollander is where the pool (and bar) is. The pool is available to Avalon guests. There is a restaurant (Tap Room) inside the Hollander lobby. It is not included in your stay but it is worth checking out! There is also a little cafe that offers pastries and coffee.

This hotel went above and beyond! Aaron helped us out the whole time and made our stay best as possible. Gregg the shuttle driver was kind and understanding as well! Best experience given the situation.

Every time my wife and I visit St. Pete, we always try to stay at this hotel. It is close to everything in downtown, parking is free, and the staff is great. Oh, and they serve cookies and coffee in the morning, and champagne and wine at 5 PM every day :)

Very cool place for a quick stay! It's a very old building so it's not in perfect shape but it was nice! Loved the front porch to hang out. Free parking but sometimes it's packed. Nice that it's next door to the Hollander which is a sister hotel so you can use their porch, pool etc. It was raining the we went so we didn't get to use the pool but the pool bar looked awesome. The Avalon is very conveniently located to the pier and Beach Dr. etc. We walked almost everywhere. Voodoo Brewing is a block away. Free coffee and cookies in the lobby in the am. There was a happy hour with free wine that we didn't get a chance to enjoy. Lobby is super cute and staff was friendly. Would stay here again for sure!

Great little spot to stay if coming to St Pete, especially for a game. The sister property next door, the Hollander, has a full restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating. There is a free shuttle you can take to the game. It’s close enough to the pier too.

I loved that you have access to the pool next door! The staff at the Avalon were very friendly, and the Hollander next-door was very reasonably priced and had delicious food! Don’t miss out on the drinks at the pool bar! We would definitely stay here again. It’s within walking distance to everything.
