Grosvenor Hotel

Det var rent och helt ok. Vi avstod frukost eftersom jag inte valt detta i bokningen. Sängen utmärkt, vi sov gott.

Windows in the room certainly could do with a clean. Bathroom ok but room for improvement. Comfy bed. Waited at the bar to be served for over 5 mins, not a sole to be seen! Parking has a charge of £12 for 24hrs. This was not very clear. Don’t mind paying but it was a surprise. Breakfast again was ok. Price was good but cleaner windows would have been nice , and maybe a shelf or small table in the bathroom to place a wash bag would have been helpful. Location was good.

The location is excellent for the town and the hotel is easy to find. On-site parking is a bonus, although limited. It would be useful if the hotel website advised alternative parking for when the hotel spaces are full. The hotel, being an older building, does feel somewhat dated. The room was clean and adequate but felt a little sparse, with fewer facilities than normally expected. Only one bedside light, no drinking glasses, no hairdryer and only 2 pillows. Being a standard room, there was no seating.

I would have rated this much higher if it wasn't for the bathroom situation in our room. The bathtub had a glass screen that was difficult to move and the toilet just next to it making it surprisingly difficult to enter the tub to shower. And apparently also to clean. I counted strain of hair from at least three previous guests in the corner not very visible for someone not standing in the tub. I would not blame the cleaning staff at all, it was a very difficult place to get to and should not be asked by staff to do daily. However it is a bit difficult to shower with remains of strangers right there. Another difficult thing was that the spare loo roll was standing straight on the floor under the toilet and had quite a few dried spots on them. I told myself it has to be backsplash from the shower and not the nearby toilet because I had no wishes to be that close to previous guests and can only wish the loo roll in the holder hadn't been on the floor. I tried not to look too closely but the surgery theatre style lighting made it difficult to not see everything. The bed was comfortable but the two pillows in the double bed was surprisingly small and there was only the main lights and no separate lighting for the bedside. Good place to stay for sleep and breakfast. And that is not bad. But will pick another place next time
