Red Carpet INN Whippany

Roaches on the wall, guy lied and said he didn't have any more rooms then when I kept asking what he was going to do about the roaches he gave another room. Room had sliding glass doors in the back that had one little piece of metal locking it. No ice, no towels, total dump, I should have left.

advertised free breakfast, there was none, microwave and tv did not work. noisy and dirty. had booked for 8 nights stayed for 2 but they refused to refund money for the 6 days.

I have stayed at this property a few times now, but this was my last. The room was in poor shape. A desk, but no chair. broken dresser. Lamp missing a shade. No toilet paper roller in bathroom. Cable not working. Plaster patch on the wall that had not been repainted. No microwave, although they advertise all rooms have microwaves. In no way, did my room look like the one in the picture. Cheap, yes,,, but barely worth it.

The smoke alarm battery was dying so the alarm is beeping all night. There is no tv, no in room refrigerator or microwave, the bathtub is dirty, the light in the bathroom is broke, there is no free WiFi….definitely not worth the money to stay. The photos on Expedia were no where close to what the room actually looks like. I’m glad I only was staying for one night. Would not recommend at all. Very disappointed

There were roaches in the hallway. You can smell food. The television did not work, not one channel. The Wi-Fi was weak. People making noise outside of our room window during the wee hours of the morning. The refrigerator didn't work.

A mid-lowerbbudget motel. Tub drain clogged, no fridge, dust on the AC control panel, though overall clean. Overhead light not working. Outer entry doors with locks broken. Hopefully they are working on all this.

I had to change my room because when I opened the door roaches were everywhere. Lots of people hanging out in front of facility at night. Refrigerator and microwave broken ended up leaving

Oulets were all loose ,there was roaches to refrigerator was lopsided sliding glass door the lock was broken so they had a different concoction on the glass door so it could lock.

no T.V. signal and no Wi-Fi signal.

This was by far the absolute worst place I have ever stayed. There were used band aids and the sheets still had hair. Everywhere smelled like smoke and the bathroom has an absurd amount of mold

I checked out before I put my bags down. This place is absolutely dusgusting! Beds smelled like a sweaty man, COCKROACHES, fridge not working, AC not working, and the bed frames had poles/sticks/beams portruding out, which is a major trip and health hazard. The shiwerhead was broken and was wrapped with shipping tape. The rug was BLACK, that's how filthy it was. Room 214. I'm filing a complaint with the BBB and the NJ Health Department. This place should be shut down for health code violations. COCKROACHES!!!

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Right off the bat I called 2 weeks in advance & asked for an early check-in, I was told yes. When we went to check we were told to we could not & to come back around 6/6:30. When we finally got to our room: The bathroom smelled heavily of chlorine & bleach while the room smelled just rancid to the point I woke up every morning with a sore throat, runny nose & coughing, I'm pretty sure the air conditioner probably has mold in it. The blankets on the beds & the curtains had cigarette burns in them the pillows were filthy Somehow the carpeted floor was sticky, with multiple bugs skittering around. The internet was spotty at best. The television got maybe 3 channels & even those didn't work. We tried to call the front desk from the phone in our room, but there was no dial tone, tried with my cell, but was hung up on. We left before anyone got to the front desk & got back after the staff left. As we were packing up my traveling partner discovered a bug in his bed that looked suspiciously like a bedbug. When checking out I notified the front desk & showed them the picture I had taken. One of the other employees told me it wasn't a bedbug, but a cockroach, LIKE THAT IS BETTER. I requested a refund & was offered a night refunded because we didn't tell them, except WE TRIED, BUT THE PHONE ON OUR ROOM DIDN'T WORK & THEY DIDN'T ANSWER THE PHONE. DON'T STAY HERE!! They should be removed from Travelocity & shut down by the health department!

When I arrived it was NASTY bathroom was nasty carpet was terrible on top of everything they had BEDBUGS DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE CLEAN

Filthy corridors and stairs. Dirty toilets and bathrooms. Worn out beds. Feels springs in the mattress. Worn out comforter. Cockroaches in the room and bathroom. Extremely poor housekeeping. Health department and state inspectors should raid this hotel and must close this property until all health care parameters are fulfilled.

Clerk was fine, room was abysmal. Cracks in the walls, filthy bathroom, shower wall falling off, hole where the tv was, roaches galore and bed infested with bugs. Was traveling and needed a quick place to stay over night, but i couldn’t make it more than an hour and a half before just leaving and deciding to sleep in my car. 1 out of 5.

BED BUGS BEDBUGS BED BUGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!We literally stayed for less than 15 minutes. The minute I checked the bed I saw blood on the sheets and called the manager to state that there were red stains on the sheets and comforter. Once I started looking at the bed and around the corners I discovered so many bright red bed bugs soooooo many. We asked for another room there were none and then the manager offered a discount. I assured him I could not sleep there and would not sleep there and needed a refund to book elsewhere. The manager was compliant and did not argue the refund. He appeared as if he knew they had a bed bug problem and was looking at me baffled that I complain. Please don’t stay here until the condition improve

Unfortunately the room was infected with roaches.

AC unit did not work, roaches, no shower curtain, terrible sewage smell and multiple lights did not work

Called ahead of time because Red Carpet was listed as permanently closed in an online listing. When we called to confirm our reservation, they couldn’t find it. I called hotels.com and they in turn called the inn. They said they had my reservation and again when I arrived they told me initially they they didn’t have my reservation. Eventually they did find it. HVAC didn’t work. Wall by bathroom door had unfinished construction. No facial tissues. Wall by bed was dirty. THERE WAS A COCKROACH ON THE DESK. Bathtub was dirty. Breakfast area closed. Smelled of smoke in a non-smoking room.

There were holes in the walls and stuff falling from the ceiling. The fridge and tv didn’t work. The walls were too thin, you can hear everything through them. Staff was not in the office when I needed help or to check out.

Gum stains on floor, holes in bedding, broken lamps, dresser and safe, toilet water ran every ten minutes and was loud due to no cover on toilet tabk

Room smelled like cigarettes. When i got here I was told I didn't have a reservation which i did. It took 30 minutes for them to realize i did have a reservation. Apparently Hotels.com didn’t communicate to them that I made a reservation

Rude employees. the housekeeper was cleaning the room when we got there and yet there is garbage everywhere no toilet paper . Room a mess. we're late getting there I was in phone contact and yet they took the whole charge before we even got there. we'll never stay there again and would not recommend it my worst enemy

The carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. When I entered my room, I turned on the light switch and nothing happened. I had to prop open the door with my suitcase to find a lamp. It had no lamp shade, just a pole with a bar lightbulb attached. There were no hangers in the closes. The ironing board's legs were bent and could not be opened. When I turned on the bathroom light, 2 crawling bugs ran across the tile. The toilet paper holders were missing the metal piece that a roll of paper would sit on. The person who checked me in was wearing a sleeve-less tee-shirt. After the first 3 minutes in the room and seeing the deplorable conditions, I went back to the lobby and told the clerk I would not be staying there. He did process a full refund credit back to my credit card. I believe that this motel is used for "section 8" housing, for long-term residents, where the hotel receives funding from the federal government. STAY AWAY

Rude front desk broken lock no breakfast food just coffee dirty room.

I wanted to give this place a shot; independent businesses need help. Unfortunately, the carpets are stained, and worn down. The hallways smelled horrible of urine and alcohol. I pushed on to my room, and it looked like someone had already been on the bed the room added a cigarette smell to the urine and alcohol. Within 5 minutes I returned to the front desk (which keeps the door locked) and the man at the front desk was incredibly nice and understanding. I do realize a hotel like this provides a service to the underserved. I just wish they were more honest in their description and pictures.

We walked in the room and immediately turned around and left. I wouldn’t risk even setting a bag down in one of their rooms. Multiple people roaming the parking lot that may or may not be soliciting. After we left, we called and requested a full refund and they did not argue.

The manager of the property was incredibly rude and a huge liar. My husband and I kept having to go back to the front desk and ask for a new key card because it wasnt working. We had to do this 3x. Then the smoke alarm in our room wouldn't stop beeping. The manager said he'd put in a work order but had no idea when help would arrive. The bathroom was SO dirty. The tub had rust all over the bottom. It was so gross you didn't even want to shower in there. Then the tv stopped working. I went to the front desk after this because enough was enough. The manager gave me such attitude and blamed it all on me. He said he always tells people to come down and check with him to make sure everything is ok within 10 minutes of getting to the room. He never said that to us. Not once. And we kept returning to the front desk with problem after problem. We tried to get thru it without the tv or shower but even the pillows had mold on them. The blankets had burnt holes in them. We couldn't stay the night there. I'm very disappointed with our stay here at red carpet inn in Whippany

Roaches in the room. Holes from burned cigarettes in blankets and towels. Garbage around the parking lot. That place felt unsafe.

This is a low income development their laundry is hanging over the guardrail dogs barking kids racing up and down the hallway these people live their and they rent out a few rooms for travelers dirty and everybody is fighting a real nightmare

i will never comeback and recommend this place!!! everything used unsanitary unsafe and terrible condition i got stuck and stranded for about an hour there was trouble and police search on the building just got there for a few minutes and checked in for few minutes and saw the terrible conditions and complained and head out with no doubts really a terrible place to stay

Pros : Very budget friendly ( Affordable) and the staff are nice Cons: Roches and bugs, Bad smell , Unsafe ( the police came yesterday and evacuated the hotel as they were arresting someone ) , No refrigerator, No water kettle Again , Because of my current situation with the limited funds I would have stayed at this place but if you do have an option to get a better place don't hesitate Also I got kind of rash

My trip was cancel when I got to that hotel also the place is a shelter not a hotel. There was hanging out infront place a dog in the lobby and loud music. It not a safe place for anyone. Very nasty place.

Homeless people living on the property right outside the sliding doors to your room. Sliding doors have a chain lock but does open from outside for someone to open wide enough to throw something in. Saw roaches in the room. Lots of spider webs. Rooms aren't clean. People walking around the property. Property manager was nice enough to offer me a refund.

Cleanliness was so so good but not great. The inn has false advertising we had no refrigerator till the next day after i complained about it no microwave no chairs by the table broken dresser draw tv only had 2 channels working and not that great either. I did complain about the tv but nothing was done just came and looked at it. No breakfast in the morning as advertised and no diner on site either because it is closed down. In my opinion i think this is a section 8 housing inn being of all the family's i saw living there plus encountered 2 baby size roaches in the bathroom on my last day. I would not recommend this inn to anyone and I will never stay there again. It should be taken off of hotels booking site forever.
