Homewood Suites by Hilton South Bend Notre Dame Area

No one was at the front desk when we arrived so we waited for about 15 minutes to check in. Very smooth after that👍 The furnishings in the lobby were very nice, & we were able to gather our group to play games. There was fresh coffee & hot water for tea available in the lobby😍 There was no pool or hot tub which were both advertised when I made the booking so we were all very disappointed about that. This 2-night stay was for a post holiday gathering with family that we were unable to see at Christmas, & we were looking forward to the pool & hot tub so that was a BIG letdown. Rooms were very nice, but lacked a dining area even though there was a wonderful full kitchen. There was a nice counter/bar, but no stools to sit there either. There was just a couch & small coffee table. We had two 2-bedroom, 2-bath suites which was a great arrangement for our group & was another reason for booking this hotel. Very clean & comfy, but one of the bedrooms was missing its TV so there was no chance for them to relax in bed while watching the “tube”. This hotel is pet friendly also (another reason we booked); however, the rooms are not very soundproof, and there was a dog barking consistently next door. You could hear the people walking (sounded like stomping) above. Another thing was the room door made a lot of noise when opening/closing. Probably needs WD-40 😆 The free breakfast was exceptional and a big highlight. Kudos to the staff—they were all friendly & doing a great job.

We loved the game room area and breakfast selection. Rooms could have been cleaner there was hair around the toilet and in the bath tub. Other than that staff was amazing and super accommodating.

Super clean hotel. Comfortable beds. My only complaint was there was no pool, even though the website clearly said there was an indoor pool. It was the main reason we chose this hotel.

Was very disappointed when we arrived and checked in to find there was NO POOL. I specifically booked the hotel for this reason. It clearly stated on line that there was a pool, also there are pictures of a pool, and the reviews mention a pool. I booked this with my daughters and 3 grand children ages 2-6 and told them leading up to the trip and all day until we checked in that they would be swimming. I felt bad for the desk clerk as she was very nice and has to be the one to deliver this news to families that book for this same reason.

This is a great property to stay at! The property is clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The prices are reasonable and affordable. We come to South Bend maybe once a month if not every other month sometimes twice a month and no matter what they are always available to accommodate my reservations. The breakfast is not great, they don’t have any turkey products and they servers don’t speak very good English so it’s hard to communicate at times. However, there are plenty of restaurants in close proximity. Lastly, the parking sucks because there is never open spaces available so you may have to park far away. Other than that it’s a great place to stay.

Hotel is updated, clean and comfortable. I wish they kept the pool i was told its being converted into a game room but guests can use the pool at springhill across the street

After traveling all evening, I did not get to check in until around midnight. There was no parking left, except in the very back in a sketchy area. Staff was outside smoking with I’m assuming some friends of theirs. Went inside to check in and the guy checking me in was acting very strange. He wrote on my key card to “behave”?? When I got to my door of my room, it looks like someone had tried to pry the door open on multiple occasions there was paint missing from the door area and it did not shut well. The room was very hot so I turned the thermostat down. Throughout the night it was not cooling down and it said low battery on the thermostat. I told the front desk first thing in the morning and they said it would be fixed. When I got back to the room, it was still very hot and they had not replaced the battery. I stay two nights and the battery was never replaced in the room stayed at 76° but Was set on 68. When I went to check out, no one was at the desk because they were both outside smoking again. I had to go get someone to try to check out. If you’re traveling alone, I would not recommend this hotel at all.

The staff was very nice and available for any questions or concerns. The hotel was very clean, quiet and very homey. Good amount of parking and breakfast was better than what we were expecting. Very family friendly, I have a 19 month old. The self serve laundry room was a plus too! Accidents are bound to happen with toddlers. Will consider staying again!

We loved the 3 bed suite. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Very cozy and clean. I will book with Homewood Suites again.

I loved the cleanliness of the room. Did not like the odor near the elevator. Did not like room phone outgoing calls ringing busy when trying to reach all services including front desk Did not like having to come back to an unclean room after requested early in the morning, due to spillage.

I'd actually gives this hotel a 4.8 out of 5 stars: details provided below. Everything about our stay was super great, except the bed was not as comfortable as it should have been. A bit lumpy and sloped to the sides: generic brand mattress, so that was a disappointment. The 4 biggest things I look for when booking a hotel room, (especially for multiple nights after my late night work as a out-of-town DJ), is the room must be immaculately clean, quiet, no bugs (over the years, bed bugs are heard to be a problem from some hotels these days, based on hotel reviews from other brand chains), and a comfortable non-lumpy mattress. Our hotel room was very clean, very fresh, well-kept and very quiet. As an added plus, to my surprise, all the towels were very soft (not scratchy and hard like most hotels). Loved that, thank you! I, especially loved the bath tub, (since I do not have one at home), so it really helped to have one in my room, to relax to after a night of DJing outdoors in cold Spring nights. Different styles of pillows are available to your liking, too, again an added plus. Loved the larger than usual fridge, stove, and silverware to be able to cook. The little fridges that most hotels offer are never enough size for me to have, since I bring my own food, and plenty of different drinks (water bottles, milk, juice, etc.). The staff is friendly and very helpful, as well. Thanks for a great stay! I recommend this hotel, no problem.

We arrived around 2 hours after check in. We had two 2- bedroom suites. The one suite was never cleaned prior to check in it took several hours before our room was ready and we had to be up at 4am. The other room. The TVs in the bedrooms did not work.

We needed a larger room for our group and booked here. The room was quite spacious. The property was very clean. And we didn’t hear anything outside our room. It was a very convenient location to get to Notre Dame for hockey. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything about the room was awesome. It was clean and modern. One TV in each area, everything was really nice. The only downside was the service checking in wasn't great.

Family of five fits comfortably in this two bedroom suite. Everyone had a good night sleep.

The room was spacious enough and had more then enough amenities for the 7 person group staying there. The only thing I'd wished had been taken care of during our stay was one of the toilets had a broken handle so I had to flush by lifting the cover of the tank and pulling the chain manually.

I enjoyed our stay very much. However, the 1st room we checked into the heat didnt seem to work well, so we were moved to a different room and that room, the hot water didnt seem to get very hot. I had to take a really quick shower and so did my husband. Otherwise the stay was nice. D.J.

We were very pleased with the room. It was clean, new, and attractive. Kitchen and bath well down. Large TV Service attentive But we had a problem with adjusting the heat/AC.. Staff tried to adjust but a problem all night. This may have just been our room. Without this I would give the room an excellent rating.

The staff at this property were exceptional. The front desk team was beyond accommodating and were some of the best I have seen. They made our stay terrific!

Such a disappointment. We booked a 2 bedroom suite for our family which advertised a king bed in one BR and two queen beds in the other. There was a full size bed instead of a king bed. Please be advised this is the case in all of these rooms according to the manager. We ended up having our son stay with a friend because of the lack of bedding. Honestly he got the best end of the deal. The property was fully booked due to game weekend and it was always a mystery as to whether you would have hot water. Of course I found out about this problem the hard what when I was on a tight schedule and had to take a frigid shower. If you like hot showers, they really don’t exist at this property. Warm maybe on occassion. Breakfast was meh but no worse than other low grade properties. The front desk staff upon arrival were very inefficient in the check in. They seemed to be in training and it took much longer than necessary. Between that and the room being not as advertised, I felt there should have been more of an attempt to be apologetic but they acted like it was my problem not theirs. Unprofessional.

They overbooked my room and I wasn’t able to get it. The two bedroom suite. Its my daughter birthday and we had girls coming. We had to find another hotel.

They overbooked the hotel so we didn’t have the room we already paid for when we checked in. Through Expedia we had paid for a 2 bedroom suite. When we went to check in, they said they overbooked the hotel but have a room for us at the Holiday Inn Express down the road. We paid for a 2 bedroom suite and got a regular 2 queen bed room. I would never reserve a room through Homewood Suites in South Bend again.

Staff was very courteous and friendly. Room was clean, but building is older/worn. Crowded and busy area of town. Disappointed the hotel raises rates during Notre Dame games, as this room was not worth $430 a night--more like $125-150 a night.

This is a very nice property but the management is poor. The first day they did not even come in and service our room. No new towels, beds made, etc. The breakfast should be nice but their warming trays do not work at all. The eggs, sausage, omelets, potatoes are all cold. I loved the little waffle machines and they were hot! I told the front desk abut the food being cold but nothing changed. Also, we ate at different times each morning and the same results, cold food. This is such a shame because it is a lovely place physically.

Great place to stay with grandchildren. Breakfast was Great, the person working the breakfast was friendly and remembered us during our stay. Front desk friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Definitely staying there again
