The parking lot is not very protected

The property is old and worn. The first floor was being painted so hopefully the property is being updated. The front of the AC was broken, as if someone had fallen on it. The lamp shade was torn, the towels were rough, one coverlet was torn and mended. The property was nice and private...off the main highway. The pool was closed...too bad. I hope it will be upgraded because it was once the best motel in Espanola. The staff was wonderful, cheerful and helpful. It was very clean which is most important. We'd stay there again with limited expectations.

I was very disappointed with the location, breakfast offerings, no refrigerator in my room when my other relatives had one. The fire door was left propped open and actually didn't close properly. No elevator for access to upper level rooms, no ice bucket, had to make several trips to get cups of ice.

The lights did not work in the bathroom or by the bed. The tv did what it wanted. The vending was hot.

It's in very poor condition. All the facilities are outdated and damaged. There wasn't even trash bags in the basket, no ice and poor lighting .

I didn’t like that I had to carry my things upstairs

Facility appeared to have run in disrepair. No security at either the front or back doors. Transients walking through the facility and hanging around. Phone didn’t work and the cops were called out to the property. Overall the room was not clean, facility filthy, and unsafe. I checked out the next day out of a planned four nights.

Didn't feel safe here! Lock on door fell off! Not a good neighbor hood! Old hotel very dark in halls and rooms! Parking is not very good! You have to park on the back and its not safe! Stay somewhere else!

I generally don’t leave bad reviews. This is an exception. Positives: room seems clean, beds were comfortable, AC worked, TV was small but worked (very fussy remote). BUT: First, driving up to it we missed the narrow driveway hidden behind a dingy Chinese restaurant with bars on the windows. Had to circle around to get back to it. The parking area has a chain link fence topped with barbed wire - not a welcoming sign when arriving. No elevator - steep stairs. No soap or shampoo in the room and a maid in the hall had none, so I needed to walk back down those stairs to ask for some. Just two towels that were barely the size of hand towels. Hot water in the bath (took forever to get there). Bathroom fan doesn’t work. Inadequate light in the room - just lights in the hall and one between the beds that doesn’t shine into the whole room. The promised free breakfast? OMG! It consisted of small muffins, instant oatmeal, coffee (no decaf) and tea. All served in a dimly lit, dreary room. See photo. Whoopee! The entire hotel including rooms, hallways, carpet, doors and trim,TVs could use upgrades. At least some color and artwork could be added. Over priced at $90. It seems that all the hotels in the area are charging much more. We regret not choosing one of those instead.

the attendants were very professional & kind. the room was clean but in need of update of carpet in the room & hallway. rear door needs to be replaced, you advertise breakfast included but was skimpy

Room was in disrepair: Two broken lamps. Sockets were out with exposed elect. wire. (Could get shocked) Broken AC grate. Bathroom fan didn't work. Dirty: There was a used sanitary napkin next to the bed.

This was not a good evesperience. The hotel is REALLY filthy... I did not want to stay in my room and decided to leave - they charged me full price for the entire stay

Clean Quiet Very Affordable

After a terrible experience the night before in Oklahoma with an Econo Lodge, this place was a breath of fresh air. Friendly staff, clean rooms, yummy breakfast

The staff was attentive and helpful. The breakfast was oatmeal and coffee. Everything was clean but obviously old and worn out. The ground floor window did not close or lock. Ok for a sleep and go, but not extended stay.

Upon arrival to the motel, it was very dark and very hard to find. The front desk lady refused to print anything out for my payment, saying that I had to get any printouts from (in my case) Expedia. The floors were cleaned of loose stuff, but you could see that they were grossly filthy. There was only one outlet that worked in our unit, and it was by the window at the desk, with no mirror within sight. Many of the lights were burned out. The curtains were broken, not giving us privacy; and not even a hanger clip in there to hold them closed with. This place was a total nightmare.

The parking lot was littered with debris. The lobby was filthy. Walking to the room it was clear the stairs hadn’t been cleaned for weeks, the carpet was pulling up around room doors, there were holes in door jambs and around knobs providing a view into closed rooms from the hallway, and the smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. When we got into the room there were cigarette burns on the bedding, the hot water didn’t work, the television/remotes didn’t work, and we found twist ties on the floor. There was a hole in the bathroom door that was filled with toilet paper and at some point they made an effort to decorate the walls because there were large unfilled holes but nothing hanging. We also found three articles of children’s clothing in a drawer which we turned into the staff. They gave us another room…still no hot water and urine in the toilet. We left, didn’t stay for the planned three nights, and were refused a refund.

The hotel was clean, but is in dire need of refurbishment. Did not feel like the area was safe. They have to keep entry doors locked. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would not stay at a Rodeway Inn again. Need better signage. Bed Linens were mended.

Horrible experiance i booked a room and when i got there they said they had nothing in their system. They had me waiting for over 2 hours just to get a room. The room was dirty WOULD not recommend to anyone.

The room had 2 roaches crawling in our room. No coffee pot or microwave or any shampoo or body wash. Very plain place. Bed’s were hard and bedspread had tears in it. Free breakfast coffee, muffin and instant oatmeal. The word was free so don’t expect a great breakfast. It was just a place to spend the night. It was quiet. I won’t stay there again.

I didn't like the refrigerator didn't work,the tv remote half ass worked you can't lay down n change channels I have severe arthritis n I had to get up every time to change channels the cord on the phone won't stay in the staff was nice but I won't come back!!!

Clean and quiet

The mattresses were horrible, the room was nice , but I woke up most of the night cuz it was like sleeping on a piece of plywood, and it felt like you were gonna roll off the side , it was not comfortable at all

Over priced for what you get. The room looked clean but if you wiped the floor it would get dirty. Over all it was a nice stay, slept well air conditioner worked, comfortable room and bed. TV was a bit small for the room size.

The room was in pretty bad condition. It took a long time to get hot water, the bathroom fan was broken, the dresser was broken. Our key card had to be reprogramed every time we used it. Everything was outdated. The “continental breakfast” was coffee, oatmeal packets, and stale muffins.

Needed a non smoking room and rep told us she would find one for us. They still put us in a smoking room. Had trouble fsleeping because everything smell like cigarettes.

the thinnest walls of a hotel I've ever stayed in, you could hear everything in the rooms next door, the hallways, the laundry room, the front door scraping open, everything. All night long. Do not recommend.

The young woman who checked us in was very friendly

The night person told me. The back door is hard to manage you have to pull on it to open. Next morning i pull on it to open. The day man yells at me says dont pull on that. You must go around. I told him not to yell at me, I was told. I dont care what you were told. Still yelling. Ruined my morning. Retraining may be in order.

We came in well past midnight, and the clerk was so friendly and helpful. He got us a lovely room quickly so we could collapse from our long drive! The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was nothing special, but it was enough to see us back onto the road!

Staff member at check in was good. When checking out the staff member appeared to be under the influence drugs or unwell. Suspicious behavior of frequent entry and exit at a side entrance.

Front desk lady keyed cards to wrong room and told us wrong room. That room was occupied. Those customers were very rude. Front desk lady was quite nice but all frazzled.

Friendly receptionist, clean premises, comfortable room, working wifi, hot water, free breakfast, felt safe and comfortable. Thanks for a restful night!

When checking in no one was at the front desk and only one person and had to call to let them know I was there to check in.

The Manager Helen was amazing, helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable.

The sign is very small and easy to miss at night. This hotel is mininist but well maintained and clean. The breakfast is just coffee, sweet instant oatmeal and small muffins. The staff is friendly and competent. I am ok with it all.

Don't let the location scare you. The hotel was nice and clean and modern. As long as you don't expect to walk anywhere I would recommend it.

Not in a great location or parking

Property was hard to spot while driving down the street.

The hotel was clean, but is in dire need of refurbishment. Did not feel like the area was safe. They have to keep entry doors locked. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would not stay at a Rodeway Inn again. Need better signage. Bed Linens were mended.

I liked that it was set back from the highway, but it was not well signed. A lot of tarmac around the building, and views from bedroom were less than stellar. A bit grotty.

Cold or lukewarm showers, cheap toilet paper, bad neighborhood

I wouldn’t know how clean or friendly the staff was, I checked in and upon seeing the property I immediately took my bags and left.

The Bed was comfortable and clean, the T.V. worked. The bathroom supply was only one bar of soap and a small shampoo bottle, no body wash. Breakfast was only bags of Oatmeal, Cold muffins, Coffee, Milk and tea. building is old and worn.

Friendly reception staff. Room clean, there was a very strong marijana smell in the hallway the first night. The “breakfast included” was a mini muffin and coffee, so people should consider the rate with no breakfast

Average hotel and bad breakfast

The images online at Hotels.com did not match the actual premises. The shower didn't work properly. The "breakfast" amenity shown online didn't exist. The "breakfast" consisted of just a few items. I will probably avoid Roadway Inn in the future.

False advertising. There is no breakfast. Coffee and mini muffins is not breakfast. The location is a little sketchy. Signs immediately telling you at each parking space “not responsible for theft” made me feel secure with my car. The night front desk clerk was sitting on the couch on her cell phone and was very limited in conversation. Room floor was sticky and bed sheets had small stains. Morning clerk more friendly. Paid extra $20 than surrounding hotels because it said “breakfast included” in description. Not true.
