Staff was great, place was very peaceful and close to volcano, hot springs and La Fortuna. We could see wild animals from the property. The hotel had amazing amenities from the vast choices at breakfast to the swim up bar, spa and yoga area.

A magical hotel at the foot of the Arenal volcano, nestled within the rainforest. The hotel is well-kept, with beautiful wooden cabins, a hot pool and a stunning regular pool. Breakfast is dreamy, with a breathtaking view of the volcano. All the attractions are just a short drive away, and the service is excellent. It is highly recommended to book a massage at the spa, as it was one of the best we have ever experienced

Property was beautiful. We stayed in the 400’s section. Monkeys every day! The walking trail is awesome, but a little difficult. A walking stick and mosquito repellent are recommended. Saw spider, and white faced monkeys. The warm pool is perfect! A view of Arenal, perfect temperature, and swim up bar! You never want to get out! Stayed with 8 friends and family. All were extremely happy with their stay. Short drive to downtown and many activities. Sky is about 30 minutes!

This hotelis wonderful. From the reception to the rooms and the complimentary breakfast everything and everyone was great. Great ambience. The whole staff were very friendly. Pool was great. Very clean. Room was very comfortable with a sitting area in the front and the back great for early coffee with a wonderful view. We loved it all. Very convenient to shops and attractions.

The hotel/bungalo's are very nice, and the grounds are beautiful. There are birds and wildlife all around the property, we saw monkeys and tons of birds. We just had a couple of small issues. The door has about an inch gap under it, and so bugs, ants and lizards can easily enter the room. I don't understand why the door didn't have a sweep on it to seal it off better. The other issue is the AC. It has AC, but housekeeping seems to turn it off after they clean...or I guess its possible that it is set to turn off after so long. When we would come back to the room it would be like an oven, and it took about 1 to 2 hrs to get the temperature back down to something reasonable. Overall it was a very nice property and I would definitely stay here again.

Liked: The swimming pools restaurant (included breakfast) and the grounds were top notch. Really great. Can't say enough about this part. Worth the price. Disliked: This hotel seems to be updating the cabanas. Most of them seem updated. For some reason, we got one that was not updated. The bathroom had a strong musty/moldy odor. We opened the bathroom window and kept it open and the smell was tolerable for our short stay. At night my daughter and I chased a couple of cockroaches into the seam where the floor meets the wall. We plugged the hole with a plastic knife, so hopefully the problem is gone for the next guest. It helps to have a sense of humor for this hotel because at the front desk they are very serious about rules and towel passes and hours of operation of the spa etc. and then you finally open the door to the cabana and it resembles the Wisconsin Dells circa 1992. Not terrible, but I can't give this aspect more than 3 stars.

The customer service was excellent. All staff made sure you felt welcomed at all times. View of volcano is also amazing, and we are surrounded by nature, which creates beautiful sights. The only issue is the insects that get into the room, causing you to shake off bugs off the bed.

If you think that you will get the volcano view, you are wrong, you might get the view of the jungles. While booking this hotel I was picturing to myself waking up and looking at volcano. Instead I was given the room among the jungles with tiny bit of volcano slope. The WiFi in the room was so weak that I could not even load Google.com . After my complaint it got fixed. Overall I don’t thing it cost the money I paid. Extremely disappointed.

We had the most incredible stay at Hotel Lomas Del Volcan. The bungalows are spacious and unique, the bed was comfortable, and not to mention the incredible private outdoor jacuzzi with our room! The view of the arenal volcano was spectacular. We loved the warm pool with the swim up bar - so much that we decided to stay on site one evening instead of visiting a hot springs. The staff were friendly and accommodating. If we ever return to La Fortuna, we will definitely stay here again!

Overall it’s a nice resort and beautiful bird watching from the breakfast dining. No lights on the sign from the street so you have to be careful or you will miss it. It’s a long walk from parking to your room, the WiFi is quite slow and intermittent and the shower water could be warmer. It’s very nice having your own stand alone suite with porch and patio. We would have preferred a king size bed and a sofa to two queen beds but we slept very comfortably.

Rooms are dated (dark wooden trim circa 1992), but the grounds are beautiful. We really enjoyed the heated pool and the bar. All the personnel was kind and helpful. Breakfast was really good. Having 2 restaurants on premises was very convenient. Annoying towel/card trade practice. Overall would stay there again. Just don’t expect ultra luxurious retreat.

Lomas Del Volcán provided outstanding service from the second we arrived for our 9 day vacation in La Fortuna. We were greeted by a very courteous Alexandra and check in couldn’t have been easier. We arrived late, dropped of our bags in the room and made our way to one of main restaurants onsite. Great food from start to the end of our stay. The fresh ceviche with tuna is a must!!! We had breakfast almost every morning at the hotel and they had something new everyday along with omelets made to order. The fresh fruit each morning is fantastic. Josebel (unsure of spelling) was always a pleasure to talk to and so nice. If you’re looking for a great place to relax and spend some quality time with your loved one this place is great or bring the whole family. The views from the swim up bar pool are unreal, from monkeys, toucans and a second to none view of the volcano. Great drinks, food and very courteous staff were second to none. Andrea at the pool bar was always friendly, courteous and provided some great local knowledge and just a joy to talk with through the week. She is an asset to Lomas for sure. This only highlighted a few of the staff but all were great and a pleasure. Please note this is from someone the lives near Disney in Florida and they provide a fantastic experience and were impressive for beginning to end!!!

Wonderful property close to town and other activities. The staff and concierge were so helpful in planning tours. The pool has a wonderful view of Arenal Volcano. Breakfast was delicious and seating area had great views to bird and animal watch. Will definitely come back.

The friendliness, organization and attention to detail from the staff helped make our honeymoon so smooth. We spent more time at the hotel than we initially expected but so glad we had such a wonderful landing spot to spend our time at. Between the pools, restaurants, trail, yoga, and being 6 minutes from downtown, we had everything we needed right at our fingertips. We thought it would just be a place for us to sleep at night and ended up being a highlight of our experience.

The hotel management is not very helpful & doesn’t try to accommodate clients requests.Rooms is quite old and need to be upgraded as you can see the signs of wear & tear. There are other hotel resorts in the vicinity which are friendly & newer built. Will not recommend this for experienced travelers.

We booked 3 rooms at Hotel Lomas del Volcan and loved everything about the resort. the rooms were spacious, very clean, and with huge bathrooms. Our room had a nice jacuzzi on the deck. The food at the restaurant was very good and well priced as were the drinks. We saw monkeys swinging in the trees one night while in the pool. the pool was really warm and the swim up bar was amazing. the adventure hike up the hill was very cool and challenging. The staff were all amazing especially Minor. The daily breakfast was tasty and never disappointed.

I loved everything about this hotel . The rooms are beautiful, the view of the volcano is amazing and the staff is SO helpful and friendly. They made arranging tours and transportation a breeze. I would absolutely come back and will recommend to anyone staying in the area. Definitely 10 out of 10!! Just a stunning property . The location was a perfect base for all the activities our family wanted to do, though we did have a car. Breakfast was excellent to start our adventures everyday. We had inspiring views of Arenal volcano when it peaks out from the clouds while relaxing at the pools.

Great hotel, well worth it for the price around 150/night, heated pool, Jacuzzi, the most amazing view. Breakfast buffet is meh, not bad but not great, the property is very serene, set away in the forrest. If you don't have a car, it's not walkable to get here, long uphill walk. With a car, it's annoying to get to as there is a long unpaved road with lots of rocks to drive through. Hotel has 2 cards in exchange for a towel each that you have to trade back and forth to get pool towels , really silly and annoying, not the end of the world though. Service is great, staff is mostly great as well.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in one of the bungalows and it was absolutely glorious. The location is amazing with the volcano looming behind you, visible from the pool and breakfast (weather depending). Breakfast was great with lots of options. The room was clean, comfy, and perfect. We saw monkeys from our deck. Nice location - private but close to town.

It was very nice to stay at the property. Restaurant has good food options and breakfast was awesome. This place is about a mile away from the main road but the hotel has a good taxi service to the town for 6 USD. Grounds are nicely maintained and the staff is super friendly and always available to help with a smile on the face. Really loved this place.

If I could only go to one place in Costa Rica, this would be it. Our casita was gorgeous - beautiful, tropical, clean, and comfortable. Our front porch looked out at Arenol Volcano. There was also a back porch if one needed shade. We mostly at ate the outside patio bar, as they served many lighter meals or a full dining room menu, and a wide selection of specialty drinks. Breakfast buffet is served in the main dining room with a wide variety of traditional Costa Rican and American breakfast dishes, and an omelet station, a dessert bar, and wonderful, efficient service. The expansive windows and deck all look out to Arenol. The pools are also beautiful, one with a swim up bar. Bathrooms are convenient and there are plenty of patio chairs, both in the sun or shade. We only stayed two nights but should have stayed longer as there is so much to see and do around La Fortuna and Arenol. Our favorite adventure was the Arenol Waterfall, a short drive from Lomas del Volcán.

Well maintained and comfortable accommodation with lots of space and nice private outdoor sitting areas. Great view of the volcano and pleasant gardens with many birds. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food and drink in bar and restaurant offers limited choice with high prices. Breakfast good.

Beautiful property. Great pool. Great views. This hotel is a little pricier than the others in the area but it worked out great for us. There was a nice pool and bar to relax in after a day’s activities. The room was clean and the air conditioning kept the room nice and cold. The included breakfast had a nice buffet. Our dinner was excellent as well. Overall all a terrific experience.

Amazing hotel, honestly the pictures don’t do it justice! Everything about the place was perfect. The room felt very authentic and comfortable. The pool area was great, with an excellent view of the volcano and surroundings. Food was always delicious, from the breakfast, to food in the bar or the restaurant. Staff were always helpful and friendly. And the spa was incredible, with views and sounds of the rainforest making treatments even more relaxing. Would not hesitate to recommend.
