The hotel was decent but a few things were not great: pool was closed for repairs, very poor lighting in room, very little furniture in room, forbidden to flush toilet paper down the toilet (!!). But the gardens were nice, breakfast good, beds comfortable, AC good and staff friendly.

The rooms and beds were good, and the staff were extremely kind and took time every day to show our kids the sloths that hang out in the trees. Breakfast was great and coffee as well! The one pool was under construction but the other was open and kids had fun despite it being small. Would recommend!

Great four night stay at secreto. Location is great for access to all that fortuna has to offer. The hotel is simple but clean. Pool was small but good for a quick dip. Hot tub was not working. Breakfast was good and fast. Note hotels.com advertised free welcome drink which was not provided but not important to us.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. They showed us 2 sloths that were on the property. Rooms were nice and opened onto the pool. They have a private carpark which is locked from 10pm at night and has a guard. The carpark and the hotel were really safe. The hotel is in a quiet part of the town but only a 5 minute walk from all the restaurantes and bars. The breakfast was good and had 3 different options along with fruit and coffee. Would recommend anyone to stay here when in La Fortuna.

Super Unterkunft für ein paar Tage in La Fortuna. Sehr sicher und überwachter Parkplatz. Zimmer mit guter Klimaanlage und Blick auf einen tollen Garten. Mitarbeiter am Empfang sind sehr freundlich - Pura Vida!! Zum Frühstück gibt es drei verschiedene Optionen zum wählen. Kopfkissen sind für die relativ harten Matratzen leider zu hoch.

The idea of this hotel is lovely- a tropical oasis with well planted gardens on the edge of the very busy town of La Fortuna, 5 mins walk to the main streets. The rooms are fine and spacious. The main problem is that the pool is tiny (more of a bath and crowded with children most of the day). If you don’t need a pool and want a base for exploring La Fortuna and the adventure activities in the region then the hotel is good. If relaxing by a pool is more your thing then this isn’t the place.

Quiet location at the end of a street yet, five minutes walk from the town centre. You could walk everywhere even at night. The hotel was clean, at a reasonable price. They had a nice pool and a hot tub but the latter pump was not operating. During check-in, the staff pointed out three sloths and iguanas living in trees right next to the entrance to the site. I highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms were clean. The bathrooms could use some updating as one room had a leak in the bathroom ceiling and the other shower pooled water. The beds were pretty firm, so beware. The pool needed some repairs. The inner courtyard was beautiful and we saw many species of birds and a sloth right outside the office. Breakfast was good. The staff were very nice and super helpful.

As a solo traveller I enjoyed my stay at this charming hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The property is a small oasis. The staff were so personable and helpful. The gardens on the property were maintained so beautifully. The breakfast was satisfying and I enjoyed the gallon pinto. Everything was well maintained and secure. The pool area was beautiful. Outside each room were lounge chairs. I was able to book tours through the front desk. Many delicious dining options available within walking distance, as well as the Central Park.

Nice place with great service that doesn't break the bank. The front desk lady helped us with anything that we needed such as transportation and tourist activities. However the first night when I arrived, there were a few roaches but we could not change rooms as we had arrived late. I complained about it and they sent cleaners after which we didnt see any for the rest of our stay.

Beautiful garden, birds when you enjoy breakfast, Iguanas were spotted on the tree, receptionist is very helpful, room is shown very clean, felt so welcomed with Towel made animal on the bed, shampoo and hair dryer in bathroom, spacious room with volcano view if sunny.But wakes up with bug bites marks.

Breakfast is typical Costa Rican fare, tasty and filling. The room was comfortable. Noisy neighbours could be heard thru the walls, but it got quiet each night by 9. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Great property 3 blocks from the Main Street Quiet location beautifully maintained gardens and pool. Staff was very helpful. Overall a good experience. This was my second time staying at Secreto La Fortuna. The only downside for me was the mattress was too hard not to firm, but to hard.

This was a great property and great stay! It was walkable to multiple restaurants and the park. Shuttles were able to come pick us up and drop us off for excursions. All the staff were smiling super hospitable and especially a special shoutout to Fabricio who checked us in and was amazingly helpful in getting us situated in the room and great restaurant recommendations. We went in May and the volcano top was a little cloudy but there was a day it cleared up enough we could see the volcano top from this hotel. It had a beautiful tree path walking to and from our room with flowers and birds. Room was comfortable with ACs and clean room and showers. Beds are firm mattresses and firmer pillows. Breakfast had 3 meal options to pick from each morning and each was great. Coffee and a juice that changed daily. Great stay here.

✅ The staff was amazing. ✅ As a vegetarian, I found the breakfast had ample options. The staff even made hot-cocoa for the kids. ✅ The hotel in general is great too -- offering view of the Arenal Volcano. ✅ The hotel is situated in the heart of "LaFortuna downtown" so most places were in ~5-10 mins walkable distance -- though we drove due to heavy rain. ✅ The TV is smart-TV so Netflix/YouTube etc were built in. ❌ There are geckos (which I thought were lizards) everywhere. I expected them to see outside, but they were lurking inside the room. So, we were always afraid of opening bags. The staff did eliminate one of them on the first day. But we come back after dinner, and two other tiny ones show up. We always kept patio door closed, but either the geckos were hiding behind furniture from the beginning or they sneaked in from under the door. ❌ The AC never cooled -- even after setting to 17c (~62f) the room felt damp, humid and hot. ❌ The bathroom does not have exhaust fan. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, and would definitely stay again on my next trip.

Hotel Secreto is a small hotel in La Fortuna with beautiful ground. But the room is super small. One bed is right against the sliding doors. One stool to sit. Tiny bathroom. Good thing is the high ceiling, which makes it airy. It’s good for one night stay.

From the moment we arrived, I was greeted by Elver who was very kind to explain all the details of our stay. He pointed out several things to do at different price options that would be good for our family. He came out to show us a couple sloths on the trees. And next day helped us with booking a tour. The rest of the staff was also very nice. We had room number 5 which had the best view of the volcano, maybe because I had asked for a special treat for my kid who was cwlwbrating her birthday the day we arrived. The hotel is right in the town which we loved as you could walk to the oark, restaurants and shops. I prefer that than other hotels that are farther and have their own termal pools because if you stay there then you would have to drive into town to explore or eat and shop. Beds were confortable, very quiet at night. Great location. Amazing view of the volcano.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Secreto in La Fortuna. The staff were amazing! Very friendly and attentive to our needs. It's tucked away a bit off the main street, which made for a mostly quiet stay. The only issue was the roof work being down on a Sunday, which we planned as our rest day from excursions. It had to be done, but we wished it was done on another day. The staff was very apologetic about it, which we appreciated. The hotel is conveniently located to many great activities, suited to whatever level your sense of adventure! Also within walking distance to many great restaurants. We would stay there again!

The two gentlemen working the front desk truly were more like concierge’s. They were in constant contact with me as this was my first trip to Costa Rica with my son. They arranged all of the activities the driver to pick us up from the airport. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful gorgeous layout. My only disappointment was with Hotels.com as we had to leave a day early which we knew long before our trip due to work schedule and they wouldn’t let me change the reservation. I had to cancel it entirely, but then I wrist not getting this hotel again this hotel great location. We walked everywhere to dinner. Would definitely stay there again.

Staff was very friendly and ready to help. We had an issue with the toilet and they came to help right away and resolved the issue. Location was great and very walkable to town. Beautiful grounds and pool looked beautiful. (We didn’t end up using it due to thunderstorms but wished we had been able to). They were wonderful and accommodated our early morning departure with an early breakfast. It was a very nice place to stay.

Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. We arrived after 9 PM, well past check-in time, and were given a room with a broken air conditioner. The room was unbearably hot, the refrigerator was unplugged, and it was obvious the space hadn’t been properly prepared. When we reported the AC issue, staff only tried switching the remote, even though the unit itself was broken. After repeated requests, we were finally offered another room, but it was a downgrade, dirty, and smelled strongly of mold. At that point, the conditions were unacceptable, and we had no choice but to leave and book another hotel at our own expense. The staff showed little effort or compassion in resolving the situation, which made the experience even worse. This property did not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would not recommend it to anyone expecting clean, comfortable accommodations or reliable service.

Clean room, beautiful property...we even saw sloths in the trees above the property! The front desk was very nice and helped us by booking and recommending local tours. Breakfast was good, fresh fruit, and 3 options to choose from that were cooked to order. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance. I would highly recommend!

We had a quick stop in La Fotuna, but Secreto hotel was the perfect stay. So close to eveything. The rooms were nice and clean and Fabrizio who greeted us was spectacular! The grounds are very beautiful and the breakfast was great.

Quiet location at the end of a street yet, five minutes walk from the town centre. You could walk everywhere even at night. The hotel was clean, at a reasonable price. They had a nice pool and a hot tub but the latter pump was not operating. During check-in, the staff pointed out three sloths and iguanas living in trees right next to the entrance to the site. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely 4 night stay. Great location, and nice restaurants nearby (especially Trevesia). Great view of the volcano, nice and clean grounds with very friendly staff and guests. Appreciated the 3 choice options and self help coffee for breakfast. It was easy to enjoy a full hot breakfast and coffee without feeling rushed for shuttles Fabricio was helpful giving tips on what restaurants were nearby and good. Loved the free wifi. The room was large and clean. Enjoyed the patio overlooking the garden and pool area. Loved the clothing rack on our patio to hang wet suits and towels.

Excellent location with a quick walk to nearby sodas, bars and shops. Room and bathroom had everything you needed. I appreciated the drying rack! The people working at the front desk and restaurant were always welcoming and kind. They even pointed out some frogs for us one morning. The grounds are lovely and I would’ve loved to have used the pool if it had stopped raining. The coffee is delicious and breakfast is fresh. I only takeaway 1 star because you can hear everything in the adjoining rooms. Bring earplugs!
