Tru by Hilton Chesterfield Township Detroit

This is the second year the guys and I have used this hotel to get a smallmouth bass fishing. With the amount of gear that’s in the boat. You’re always worried somebody’s gonna steal something. Parking lot is well lit and safe and nothing has ever been taken. People are watching out for each other and the staff does a wonderful job of helping customers come and go as they need.

The iron was leaking water and when the master light was turned off it also turned off the plugs to charge the phone. The hotel was good at switching the iron but had the same problem again. Overall it was a nice hotel just wish it had a laundry.

Would say it was a 4 star for sure.... need better pillows you dont put yoir head on and its sinks to the bed. Would appreciate firmer pillows. And a pool would have been great but was not a option.

When we arrived the property was running on generator due to a transformer issue. We could not use the elevator at all. Patrons had to walk up flights of steps to get to rooms. Had to be let into rooms by staff due to no key cards because of power issues. Lights were not fully working in rooms. No offer if a discount or refund was given when asked.

No Pool, No Pool!!! They have nice rooms. Breakfasts were ok, but try to avoid getting it right before shutdown time the older woman is rude, snappy and gives quite the dirty looks. Again, NO POOL!

Everything was great except the elevator wasn’t functioning to go down. That is nobody’s fault. The app wasn’t working to unlock the doors either

Very nice, updated hotel. Had hot free breakfast. Rooms were clean and modern. Beds were comfortable. I wish there was coffee maker/microwave in room, but they did have a refrigerator. Wish there was a pool for kids as well, but all in all, one of the better places we’ve stayed at.

There is poor parking for vehicles with trailers and no outlet (only ONE available) access fr those that need charging. Our toilet was not working when we arrived (I understand things like this can happen and wouldn't be a reason why I wouldn't come back). Breakfast was provided, but minimal (seen better most of the time when comparing places with similar rates). Place is nice and clean, and staff friendly.

Food was excellent. I love the pancakes room was the cleanest I’ve seen in any hotel enjoyed my stay.

Pillows were wrinkled like they were nothing close to fresh. Floor was sticky and one spot had a glob of something

Stayed 3 nights. First, we had to be relocated to a new room because we had an ant problem in our room. Not just a few - many, spread out across many areas of the room. Thankfully, I made sure to ask if there were any other reports of ant problems, and sure enough: 4 on the first floor. So, I asked to be relocated to the highest floor. Not a big deal. Then, the first night, the fire alarm went off in our room at 2am while we were asleep. We quickly exited to the hallway to our surprise: the alarm was only going off in our room. The man at the front desk was respectful and helpful, but unfortunately it took him about 30 minutes to shut off the alarm, while we sat out on the hallway floor in the middle of the night, desperately needing to sleep to participate in qualifying the next day. Not great. Then, the same thing happened on our third night, this time at 6am, also while we were asleep. This time it only took about 15 minutes to shut off. Still disappointing; we woke up in a frenzy in the middle of the night during a packed and stressful weekend, with limited time to sleep to begin with. The staff was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately it didn't make up for the hotel's innate problems.

What I didn't like was the lousy pillows, the noisy air conditioner, and I had to verify the quietness policy with the front desk. They offered me to move or the party making the noise to calm down which they finally did.

Great place. Very clean and the breakfast was very good. Our only “complaint “ was the room did not have a coffee maker. We enjoy making coffee when we wake up.

Room was clean and bed was comfortable, but the shower was not hot at all. Waited forever hoping it would heat up and it did not, so had to take a had to take a barely warm shower. Also, not a lot of sound insulation in the rooms. Heard the stair door down the hall slam all night and neighbor's TV very loudly for a while.

Breakfast could have been better. We missed having drawers and a closed closet.

The king room is small. The esthetic is cold and not warm. Breakfast is great.

Room wasn’t ready until 3 hours after check in. Staff seemed unphased by this. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was convenient.

We were very happy with our stay last week-end. The room was nice and very clean. The front desk staff was friendly. The woman that was keeping the breakfast bar stocked was very friendly and greeted us so kindly in the morning.We will definitely stay at the Tru again when we visit the Detroit area. Thank-you.

The hotel overbooked their rooms. When we arrived they told us they didn't have a room for us, even though we had reservations. We were forced to find a new hotel and had to pay higher rates at that hotel. Other family members that were also staying there, were given room keys to rooms that were already occupied. They opened up the room door with their key to find that the room was already occupied. Very unsecure and unsafe situation. We would never recommend this hotel.

House keeping only once in a week, key would not work, had to have clerk let us in the room every time, could not get in back door because key would not work. Wife had to wait outside room while I got clerk to let us in. Extremely uncomfortable experience

The hotel itself was great. The staff however was very nice but . the Assistant General Manager was the absolute worst person ive ever met. They had issues with our payment processing when we arrived. We used a venmo card to pay and it captured a temp hold as usual and then she said it didnt go through. She couldnt fix the issue and allowed us to checkin and go to our room. Upon check out 3 days later we were told we had a balance owed over 300 dollars. I showed her where they had pulled the money already and she said we were liars and theives and they should have never allowed us to stay. This was unacceptable and she demanded alternate payment. I contacted venmo and they said until the hotel finalize the transaction it would show pending. I showed her this communication and she she still said no. I asked for them to refund my venmo and then i could re run the card and she absolutely refused and demanded alternative payment which we didnt have after they had already taken 600 dollars. They threatened police and more. My husband placed the balance on his company card to settle the issue and they still as of today 6 days later have a hold on 600 dollars in my venmo account. Completely rude and unacceptable behavior from a Assistant Manager and even after we asked for the GM she refused. Never will i stay here again if she is employed. Hilton has a reputation for excellence...she is failing that standard. She didnt even know how to print our receipt she had to get help.

Took an hour to check in due to hotels.com only having a handicap available and no handicap accessible rooms available. Had to sit on hold to rebook the reservation with hotels.com

Watermain rupture locally during stay, awoke after first night to find this. NO notification of occurrence, had to figure it out hard way. If you can print people's statements and shove them under doors, how about a heads up in this or some other way? NO accommodations made by property--obviously they can't help the situation but how about offering a bottle of water or two for brushing teeth? A co-worker asked for one and was tod price. After break was repaired, a boil order was in place--again, NO notification and NO water offered. How about some signs around the property advising water is not considered safe yet? Never saw or received the first one. We did notice, however, that the breakfast service never missed a beat. How can you run a restaurant without safe running water ? YOU CAN'T. Handwashing, food prep--all need clean water! A coworker got locked out of his room because they coded the dates on his reservation incorrectly. He spent over an hour waiting in the lobby because no one on site knew how to correct the situation and get him back into his room with his belongings. Over an hour to make a new room key and correct their mistake? Truly unacceptable--that should be a fundamental hotel skill. Bottom line: AVOID THIS PROPERTY.

We definitely feel safer staying up here and driving to fish versus staying in detroit. Hotel was clean ans updated. Friendly staff. Close to bass pro shops and walmart. Great food close by

The proximity to restaurants and amenities is a definite plus. Also, it is close enough to Mount Clemens, Sterling Heights, and Metro Beach so that all of the attractions of these areas are easily accessible.

Clean and nicely located hotel for a reasonable price. Nice indoor and outdoor sitting area with available games for entertainment. Breakfast was average. Only complaint would be the towels are not soft, pretty scratchy. And we could hear people walking on the floor above us. So asking for a room on the top floor would be wise. Overall, a very nice place to stay for a short period of time.

The bed was comfortable and the room quiet, i slept well. Breakfast was the standard scrambled eggs and sausage, yogurt, pastries, apples, oatmeal, cold cereal, milk & juice. It was clean and well kept, I would stay here again.

Our stay was great, breakfast was pretty good and they were kind enough to extend our check out time since we had some hockey players who needed to shower before taking our flights back to Miami!
