The Common Man Inn & Lodge, Plymouth

Dinner at Foster's Boiler Room was fabulous. The kids absolutely loved the pool and the hot tub waterfall feature! Certainly keeping this in the rolodex of stay options.

We were so disappointed at our stay at the common man. For starters, we were assigned to the hotel down the street from the main hotel, requiring a drive to have dinner and use the amenities. When it’s 20 degrees out, it was not in our plans to utilize the pool when we couldn’t walk to our room. The room was ok, outdated with mattresses like those in a toddler bed and a faux wood floor with bubbles as you walked. Breakfast at the main hotel, which again we had to drive to was ok at best with a clearly disgruntled employee preparing it. On the weekends there was a buffet of old scrambled eggs and cold potatoes. When you asked the cook if we could have anything specific we pointed to the buffet. When the buffet was not open he prepared French toast with filthy gloves we watched him smoke a cigarette in minutes earlier. The restaurant was good and worth the ride, although we anticipated being able to walk there. What really sent us over the edge was trying to order room service only to find we had to use door dash, which includes the obvious up charge and fees and our food arrived incorrect. The pool was dirty and outdated, as was the hot tub that was filled with bubbles which appeared to be used to conceal the yellow dirty water. This is definitely false advertisement and they should disclaim that the hotel is not at the same location as the “amenities”. I suppose the stay would have been mediocre had we stayed in the “main” hotel. Very disappointed.

So swimming in NH in January, go outside to drive back to our room wasn’t ideal . If I would’ve realized that I would’ve booked differently. Making sure we were in the building with the pool and hot tub . Same for the restaurant we had to drive to the location . A lot of driving back and forth to use the amenities. We didn’t go for the breakfast included because we didn’t want to drive again . The restaurant had great food !! We enjoyed our dinner . In our rooms, the drive back from the pool , exhausted we needed to sleep . Our pillows had moldy looking brown spots all over . We picked out two pillows without spots and just fell asleep . A few other things in the room were not as clean as I would’ve thought or expected. Dirty Ice bucket .

This is very nice and safe to stay. Breakfast is very good and hygienic. My one concern is about swimming pool. It is a little bit small in size. And one big problem is needed to drive to go pool, it means my building and pool building is different location.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our two-night girls trip. Our room was in The Lodge building which was great! Coffee, continental breakfast foods and snacks were available 24 hrs in the lobby. Very clean, very nice staff. The inn and spa is 30 seconds down the street, so not inconvenient at all. The spa was beautiful and comfortable, and the staff accommodating. We enjoyed massages and facials, and loved the pool and jacuzzi. We had dinner one night at Foster's restaurant in the Inn. The food was delicious and the staff was great. I will definitely stay at the Common Man again in the future!!

The rooms are decorated so nicely..very cozy. Comfortable beds, sheets were so soft. Nice having a restaurant in the building too. The pool and hot tub were so relaxing.

This was a great location in NH. We went to the Ice Castles which was not far away. The vibe is log cabin with excellent service. We had a loft room and the size of the room was impressive. The have an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub available. We didn't use the spa, but we will be back to try it! There was coffee and snacks available 24 hours and it was a great value for a quick local get away from MA.

Do not book "Lodge/off site" you need to drive to another location get to free breakfast, use insoor pool, sauna, spa or any other offerings. The Lodge is a renovated econolodge that you can stay at for 50% lower cost. Comes with 24 hour access to snacks if it's stocked, so thats a plus.

Rooms very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Check in was delayed because they were reportedly unstaffed and couldn’t get the rooms cleaned fast enough. The pool area was ok but needs an upgrade so it looks cleaner.

Just one night but the beds were comfortable and the room was immaculate. Would definitely recommend for the Plymouth area.

Friendly atmosphere, Rustic and unique, very clean

Not at the same location as the main inn. Needed to go to main inn for main breakfast and pool. Food left in fridge upon arrival, no hand soap in room.

Staff was polite. However the property was nothing special. The lodge was dirty, there was no hot water in the shower. The breakfast was non existent. Its a great area but we were definitely not impressed with the hotel. Wouldnt recommend.

The venue was very clean and plenty of close parking. The beds were comfortable and the shower was spotless. Would definately stay there again.

Cute, quaint, tv didn’t work and the walls are thin and could hear everyone’s conversations.

I read mixed reviews going in so I was a little skeptical, but our room was very clean and updated. We had a beautiful leather upholstered king size headboard with a very comfortable mattress and bedding. The wall behind the bed was finished with stained, thick wood planks, and there was a plaque stating the history of where the wood came from and what they were stained with.You can tell that the rooms were redone in the traditional Common Man aesthetic. The room had a well kept, clean plaid carpet and a matching olive green leather chair as well as an upholstered couch that looked clean and was comfortable.The bathroom was very clean as well. I would definitely stay here again!

Overall, this was a nice one- night getaway. Pool and hot tub were nice, we were there while there was only one other couple. Restaurant was decent and the atmosphere was cozy. Our room had its issues, unfortunately. Very run down (not in a rustic way), very bright with no drapes and parking lot lights just outside the window and the fireplace didn’t work…although they were very apologetic and took $50 off the room fee. If they fix up the rooms, we would definitely return.

Nice place to stay, clean room, the third floor room not good for some people, no elevator from the 2nd floor to the third.

Hotel staff was great! Very kind and helpful. The problem at the lodge is with the mattresses on the beds. They're clearly very old. They are similar to a foldout sofa bed quality. Very creaky and I was able to feel the lumps from the springs when I was laying on it. Also the hot water took a very long time to warm up, probably about ten minutes and then it was too hot and I couldn't get it to cool down. The staff was so awesome here that I hate to rate the place low but really the beds were just terrible. I wouldn't stay here again despite the excellent treatment we received from the employees. Comfort is most important to me. Maybe I'll try their main inn down the street next time, not sure. I'm afraid those beds will be awful too.

Couples trip. We stayed in the Squam Lake Suite. It was huge and very comfortable. The spa was fantastic and service from the lobby to the spa to the breakfast cafe was 5 star. We will stay here again.

The room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor which only had a window air conditioner. It was extremely loud and didn’t really cool off the room.

Pros: very accessible from the highway, included breakfast has a wide range of options, room was clean, facility has a cozy, rustic feel, staff was friendly and helpful. We had the pool (that my son loved) to ourselves the entire visit! Cons: DO NOT stay here during a wedding, at least not on the main floor. You can hear the bass from the DJ through the walls and when the venue is over at midnight, it sounds like the hammered guests are literally inside your room. I think it would be lovely, otherwise. It is a little hard to use the pool because there is only a bathroom to change in at the spa, but not inside the pool area. We tried to change into our bathing suits in the room and walk to the pool in our robes, but you have to walk through all the wedding guests and restaurant patrons which is so awkward! The pool area is pretty beat up, but it's really nicely decorated and water was clean and warm. The floor is slippery and chipping like crazy, so water shoes might help. Do not use the waterfall in the spa; it comes out so aggressively there is no way to stop it from bashing you in the face, even on the lowest setting. Tips: if you are using the fireplace in the room, do so sparingly; it gets extremely hot. Run the heater by the window to drown out corridor and parking lot noise if you can, instead. Get to breakfast before 8:30 or it will get quite busy. The main entrance is way around the back, so don't park right when you pull in, keep going!

Be careful when booking - we were in the Lodge which is separate to the Inn - down the street and is basically a motel. The place was kind of run down and could use some serious upgrading and TLC. The bathroom door was decaying and the soap dispenser fell off the wall at first use and the door didn’t lock… The staff are very helpful and kind and attentive though and the area in Plymouth is nice… peaceful yet convenient to town and highway:

Thought I made it at Common Man Inn but trying to check in was diverted to The Lodge about 1 mile away/inconvenient. The Lodge has few amenities but told could use them at other site. No elevators at the Lodge either-only stairs just fyi. Also breakfast is just microwave convenience items. When door key didn’t work second night, staff just said they were busy-no sorry or any apology even after I said we had to walk down and back up stairs to rectify their mistake! A bit pricey for what we got in my opinion.

Amazing! The staff was phenomenal from start to finish. We were in the area for a surprise birthday weekend for my fiancé. The staff treated him like a king for his birthday. From a card, free ice cream, a bottle of champagne (waiting in the room), to personal birthday wishes from the staff. He was blown away, as was I. Food in the restaurant was top notch and a full hot breakfast this morning, that was included in our stay was great! Room was clean, comfy, and very nice. We will most definitely be back many more times.

Make sure when you book at the Common Man Inn, that you specify you would like to be at the Inn and not the Lodge. Apparently these are synonymous and you certainly don’t get what you pay for if you end up at the lodge. Second, our key card stopped working to get in our room and they made us drive back to the Inn to get another one because they don’t actually staff the Lodge appropriately. Overall a poor experience with half of our party ending up at the Inn and the other half at the lodge. Not worth the money. They should specify what you are actually receiving for what they are charging each night.

They had a very difficult situation with another guest and they handled it very well! The staff were fantastic!

2nd visit and thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast cooked to order and free for guests, dinner very good and with very reasonable prices at on site restaurant. Had massage and soak at spa: great relaxation/light area. All staff friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend and plan to return soon.

We spent one night in the Lodge. Check-in was great, the staff was super friendly, and we were welcomed lovingly by the husky puppy, Lana.

Staff were excellent!! But it was difficult with two weddings going on. Dealing with the public can be difficult. But the woman behind the desk handled disgruntled guests with grace and understanding. We went to the flying monkey to see a show it was very close to the hotel.

We stayed at the Common Man Lodge that is about a half mile from the Inn & Spa. It was a standard hotel room. We had to drive to the Inn & Spa to use the amenities because the roadway is not pedestrian friendly. Will definitely try to get a room in the Inn & Spa next time. The amenities and gardens there are much nicer.

Quiet hotel, easy check in, close to town

Made a last minute trip up north for the ice castles, found a room here at the Lodge. It’s up the road a little bit from the actual Common Man, so we stopped at the original for dinner and then drove to our room. Staff was friendly, easy parking. Seems like it used to be another brand of hotel, then converted to CM decor.

The cutest hotel ever! Love everything about it. Our room had a fire place and a reading nook. The indoor pool and hot tub are great! Perfect relaxing getaway and a must stay for PSU parents! So close to campus and the dorms but feels like miles upon peaceful miles away from it all

Overall, cabin was clean and comfortable, however, there were some areas for improvement. First, check-in was smooth, but it was unclear where exactly the cabin was located by the listing. It's 10 miles away on the other side of Plymouth from the Common Man Inn, just a mile and a half outside of town. The great thing was it was steps away from the Italian Farmhouse, which was excellent! Cabin was great and had a hot tub, which came as a surprise. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable and clean, and the gas fireplace made the living space very cozy. On the negative side, we noticed water bottles throughout the cabin - kitchen, both bathrooms - and came to realize that the water had a strong sulphur smell, so we used the water provided to brush teeth, make coffee. Showering was a little awkward with the smell of the water. The tvs in the living room an the smaller bedroom worked fine, but the one in the main bedroom only got one channel. Finally, we were told we could just leave the key and call the front desk - not have to go back to the main location. However, the phone in the room didn't work, so we ended up going back to the main inn to check out. Again, the space was cozy and generally clean (minus the strong smell of the water) - loved the fireplace and hot tub - and the restaurants at both sites were probably the best in Plymouth. The cabin could use some TLC though.

Great place right off the highway. Clean, safe, with a restaurant and bar, good food and good environment. Definitely recommended:)

I liked how quaint and quiet it is. I love the theme ans decorations. It is also very close to my daughter's college.

Beds very hard. The bathroom had pieces of broken grout on floor. Breakfast wasn’t up to what we have experienced at Common Man restaurants. The main breakfast buffet had 2 items and the little cafe was close quarters and at the time we were there no option for another breakfasts option. Positive thing was location. We had wine delivered with no glasses or opener.

What made this stay so fantastic was definitely the staff. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The resort was charming and definitely on theme. The breakfast that was included was excellent. There is a hot menu item featured daily and bagels, toast, whole fruit, yogurt, coffee and tea. The hot menu item was prepared by a chef. Best scrambled eggs and hash browns I’ve had in a while. The breakfast sandwiches were handmade and not frozen with thick cut bacon. Our room was on the third floor with no elevator access which I did not enjoy. My 10 year old daughter loved the pool! We were in the area for a show, but there was not much to do in the area.

It was fun, love that the restaurant is right on campus. The free breakfast was a little lacking.

Such a cool spot! I loved the rustic vibe of the facilities, and Foster’s Boiler Room is so cool! Plus great and affordable food :) Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone visiting NH.

Hotel is tired and shows plenty of wear and tear in spots. Shower was dangerous with temperature control fluctuating from comfortable to scalding on its own. Pool and hot tub were nice, sauna too. Lunch was nasty, worst Caesar salad ever a d others were not impressed either. Not sure if I’ll be back. Who knows

What a wonderful place! Cozy spacious room, delicious food including Tom's daily special breakfast served with his friendly banter and hash browns, and spa toiletries in the bathroom. Our dog was spoiled as well with a cozy bed and big dog biscuit. We will be back for sure!

Amazing stay at The Common Man Inn! Huge room and great staff! Everything was A+ from dinner tonthe complimentary breakfast. We will definitely be back!
