Not a bad resort in the Nanoose/Parksville area. I would say the only downside was the size of the unit, and the lack of functioning furniture. Would have been nice to have a desk or in the very least a coffee table. Plus side, the outdoor hot tub was a great addition to the nightly rental. There is also a gym and indoor pool as well.

Indoor pool and outdoor kids pool and hot tub were lovely. However, they have scheduled swimming lessons on Saturdays st the indoor pool which was a bit problematic for us and the swim instructors were unfortunately less than kind to my 4yo son. He really enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub. The door code on it doesn’t work and although we had gotten towels from the front desk (when staff were available there) they did not originally give us the code- but found it with a quick call to them… they then did tell us it is tricky to get it to work. It would be REALLY nice if it operated with the room key as everyone who went into this area seemed to have issues with the code at the door! I guess due to the season the paddle boards and ocean equipment are only available on Saturday and Sundays during high tide (which was 3-8pm) and the only time that would have worked for us was Friday from 3-8pm. So we didn’t get to take advantage of any of the outdoor equipment this trip. They were amazing about allowing us to check in early as we had a super early flight into Nanaimo. I’d called & confirmed a 1pm early check in but no one there at check in - when we did have issues and no one was at the front desk, we did get assistance when calling directly! No breakfast available on site & no coffee cream either. The rooms were fairly clean- drawers beside the bed had garbage, hair and a lot to dust in them, and the grout in the window tile of the shower was moldy. Otherwise clean.

Clean modern rooms, Beautiful grounds! Well manicured, so many amenities! I enjoyed the swimming pool, Sauna, great hot tub outdoors! Took advantage of the spa and had a fantastic massage! Gorgeous views from the Gazebo. Relaxed and enjoyed the ocean! Fantastic property.

We have stayed at this resort many times. It is starting to show it's age and the unit we stayed in is getting pretty shabby. The carpet was stained and dirty, plus I don't think it was vacuumed. The bed in the bedroom and the pull out sofa were really bad. The pillows weren't very good. The hot tub in the main pool area was out of service. This seems to happen fairly often, as it was out of service on a previous trip. There was an alarm beeping continuously in the ping pong and billiards room that was really annoying. This resort has a beautiful property, the outdoor hot tub area was functioning and is very nice. The pool is kept at an excellent temperature and the kids really enjoy it. The Sauna was working, that is good. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but may look for a new resort in the future if it gets any more rundown.

Location is very nice with a unique beach, nice outdoor hot tub and large indoor pool. The gym and indoor pool are nice but wasn’t open in the mornings not until 8:30 for some reason so couldn’t do my morning routine. Also, the restaurant doesn’t serve breakfast so we couldn’t eat anything until lunch time, huge issue. We stayed in the 700 series apartments on the ground floor and it was quite nice, had everything. Beds weren’t the best; sofa bed needs full replacement, and I’d recommend bringing your own pillow unless you want a sore neck. Sleeping felt like a 3 star hotel. We would stay again with carefully planned days and bringing our own groceries but the hotel should open the facilities for normal person timeframes and have at least some option for breakfasts.

A huge property. Accessible to the beach but if you want a view ask for a room with a view. Furniture needs a refresh, headboard coming apart, sofa very low. Fridge was making a noise until my husband turned off the ice maker in the fridge. It was not installed. We ate at the rest, which was just ok. Food took an hour to come. Large party they said. Would have been nice to know that as we arrived. The music was TOO loud. Nice beach. Pool ok but hot tub was not working. Rooms were good but you could hear the other guest from inside our room.

The waterfront walk is awesome, you can borrow kayaks and paddle boards to explore more of the bay. The room was not clean, the floors were dirty, the bathroom mirror still had toothpaste splatter from the last guests, and there were mildew stains in the bathroom grout. The mattress was ok, but the bed frame was wobbly and hanging on by a thread. There is also no soundproofing between units so you'll hear everyone walking and talking in the units around yours.

The sheets were not changed and comforter of bed was so uncomfortable. Didn't like the texture of it. There was also a a big fly inside the washroom. Odor of room was terrible too. We enjoyed the pool anyhow.

Rooms was decent, kitchen was under stocked to be useful. The cleanliness of the washroom was not very good. The toilet was a mess. No A/C so if it’s hot you feel it. Pool and grounds are very nice and the restaurant was good with a great patio facing the ocean. It’s nice to sit out on the lawn at night by the ocean

The rooms were a bit tired and having no AC in the rooms at all is dated. The island regularly hits ~30C in the summer these days and with the recent fires keeping any windows open was not an option. With some work could be quite nice.

Apartment type of booking with full kitchen. Modern, clean, pleasant, attention to details, everything that was needed for a hassle free stay was provided. Inside walls are not really soundproofed, but neighbourhood was fortunately rather quiet. Amazing property and surroundings on the shore.

Property location, lots to do on property. Lack of AC could have been a problem when it gets real hot out. Balcony was a bit small and the neighbor could view directly in the room if they wanted to. Dark out drapes on main window would be a nice addition.

Beautiful grounds, but the rooms are a bit small and tired. Not big enough for a family as the pullout bed is awful so it really only sleeps 2 comfortably. The big downside to staying here in the summer is the fact that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. Overall this was a bit of a regretful booking. We like that it’s pet friendly.

The particular unit we stayed in was quite outdated, there were others which had been updated. It was relatively clean but some areas needed a bit more attention (the kitchen cupboards doors/handles were sticky, there was lots of long black hairs throughout the unit). It is a resort/hotel however they don’t provide any room cleaning during your stay. There was no paper towel, broom/Vacuum cleaning supplies in the unit to tidy up the kitchen or other areas during our stay (1 week), when we arrived one bathroom had no toilet paper, the other only had a quarter of a roll. I called upon checking in a realizing this and asked for more to be dropped off, after many hours it still had not arrived and I went and found someone who would get it for me. As they don’t do room cleanings, they said to call when garbage needed to be picked up and place it outside the door. We did this in the morning and by 8pm, it was still there. When we asked the front desk if we should take it back inside for the night so an animal doesn’t get into it, or was someone still coming the response was “do you mind just taking it down to the garbage yourself?”. The grounds were perfect for our family and our stay, the amenities were perfect. The use of paddle boards and kayaks without an additional cost was a nice feature. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however if I were to stay there again, I would possibly look at renting one of the privately rented units, not one through the hotel to ensure an updated unit.

As they don’t do room cleanings, they said to call when garbage needed to be picked up and place it outside the door. We did this in the morning and by 8pm, it was still there. When we asked the front desk if we should take it back inside for the night so an animal doesn’t get into it, or was someone still coming the response was “do you mind just taking it down to the garbage yourself?”. The grounds were perfect for our family and our stay, the amenities were perfect. The use of paddle boards and kayaks without an additional cost was a nice feature. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however if I were to stay there again, I would possibly look at renting one of the privately rented units, not one through the hotel to ensure an updated unit.

The power went out in the night for 3 to 4 hours and during that time of security, alarm went off so loudly, we could hear it from our room. It beeped every other second and was constant and loud. We couldn’t do anything about it because the front desk was closed at this time. There was no number to call in case of emergency and the phones did not work due to the power outage to even try to call the lobby, even if the lobby had been staffed, we let a staff member know upon our departure, and they were surprised and unsympathetic. We had a great day otherwise it’s just an unfortunate ending to what would’ve been a pleasant day.

Upon check-in, the door to our room was physically open. We were missing several items in our 1 bedroom apartment: no sheets and blanket for the pull-out sofabed no sugar for coffee not enough towels no dishwasher tabs only 1 roll of toilet paper no salt and pepper no herbal tea not enough coffee pods In addition, one of our room keys did not work. There was also not enough soap to wash our hands for 3 days and the quality of the soap was horrible. Liquid hand soap should be supplied in both the bathroom and the kitchen. The property seemed nice but the lack of supplies and multiple trips to the front desk were disappointing to say the least.

This place has all you need, on top of being beautiful! On the contrary to other reviews, I think they communicate their facilities very clearly online. Service was also great from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the activity rentals. Pacific Shores has an absolutely beautiful sunset location too. The rooms are more on the dated side maybe but the theyre comfortable and efficient (we were in the suite so we loved the kitchen and washer/dryer!!). Our whale watching tour was also canceled due to winds so we were so thankful for the kayak rentals they do for free. We saw a couple of seals breaching out of the water and the view around the bay overall was so nice. Would love to visit again.

It was a time share kind of property. Fine but nothing special although the grounds and location were very nice. Staff were lovely. Our suite smelled very strongly of new paint so we asked to be moved, which we were. New suite smelled musty but it was ok as weather was nice and we sat on the small balcony mostly.

The staff were friendly but not well trained. I was triple charged on the deposit ($300) and no one seemed to know how to reverse the charges including the general manager. In an attempt to reverse them I was charged another $100 a week later. The only solution they could come up with is issuing and mailing a cheque with no known date for when it would arrive.

The only complaint was driving in the dark it is hard to see the road to turn off Northwest Bay Road. You need a solar light shining on the sign both at that corner and turning into the resort. We had to turn around as we missed the SMALL sign on the right heading south.

If you want quiet and peaceful, this is your place. It is just far enough away, that it is quiet. The sunset/sunrise walks on rocky beach were perfect. The tide was out in the morning and you could walk out so far and see so many things. You could Kayak at high tide. Pool was clean and nice. Outdoor kid pool was fun. So many little paths to walk around. Little gazebo with chairs and lights and little fireplaces right on the edge of the ocean. Picture perfect. Hotel room, a little outdated. That didn’t bother us too much since we weren’t spending that much time in it. The bed was very comfortable.

We stayed here in February for the Family Day long weekend. It was quiet. Nice pool and hot tubs. Close to Parksville and Coombs. Lots of attractions nearby were closed and the hotel restaurant was closed but it was an enjoyable stay. Rooms are a bit outdated but had a great soaker tub and amazing views and kitchen had all the dishes and appliances we needed. A nice beach trail around the property. Would recommend.

There is so much to do there what an amazing place! Hughly recommend. Only negative id the pub at the resort - unless you are ok with a 6oz wine for 25.00 or a plate of nachos for 35.00 id suggest driving 5 min to some great local pubs

Couldn't hear the waitress and the musician did not take a break at all. I would've gone for dinner on Friday night without music and had a pleasant evening. We ate in a hurry didn't finish the meal and couldn't even think of desert.had to get out of there

Check in was by an un-smiling man who did not appear happy or particularly helpful. He allowed me to see the rate the hotel would charge me which is very much less that what Expedia charged. Your rates that you add to resort is much too high. Restaurant cancelled my reservation for Monday dinner and was not open for breakfast. This was a big disappointment. Room was fine but did not provide water bottles every day and did not have ice making capacity. Coffee was provided, tea was not.

The restaurant was under renovation. However, we had a great time. The resort is well maintained. We really enjoyed the hot tub facilities and the aquatic sports. My only recommendation is to include an extra chair in the room, when there people are staying.

There was mold and mildew on the shower head (it was actually black with the mold) and around the shower door. I've seen this before at other hotels but this was the worst. Also, the pull out couch was the worst my daughter has slept on and we got two foam underlay things to help with it and it still did not allow her to sleep. We had to buy a blow up bed for her to be able to sleep on the floor which was better than the couch/bed. Other items to be aware of is that many of the electrical sockets did not work to plug in phones etc and the room was run down overall (kitchen cupboard water damage on bottom of them, balcony screen had holes in it, walls dented etc). We mentioned this to the front staff and they said they new it was like this but had no time to fix anything as it was booked solid. We tried to go into another room but they said they were booked up. So BEWARE - this is definitely not worth the cost we paid for it. Parksville is a lovely place but don't choose this resort as it needs to be updated or at least maintained better. Also, I sent a message to the GM and have yet to hear back from her on our disappointment. I will update this review if we hear back from her.
