We chose this hotel based on its advertised 24-hour front desk and proximity to Versailles, but our experience was unacceptable. After returning around 6:00 a.m. from a special event at Versailles, we realized we had accidentally left our room key inside our room. Instead of helping us verify our identity and regain access to our room, the overnight employee repeatedly questioned whether we were guests, yelled at us, and told us to leave and come back later—with no indication of when we would be allowed back into our room. Our passports, medications, and all of our belongings were locked inside. After I contacted Hotels.com, they were initially unable to reach the hotel and advised that, if we could not regain access to our belongings, we might need to contact the local authorities. Eventually another hotel employee arrived and explained that the overnight employee simply didn't know how to access guest rooms. We ultimately decided to leave and forfeit our final night because we no longer felt comfortable staying there. In addition, our room was not well maintained, the bathroom appeared poorly cleaned, the wet-room floor stayed constantly wet, and we never received housekeeping during our stay. A hotel can have maintenance issues, but denying a registered guest access to a paid room and leaving them with no certainty of when they could retrieve their passports and belongings is unacceptable. I cannot recommend staying here.

The day before we checked out, we kindly asked the receptionist if the hotel could book a taxi for us the following morning at 7:45 AM. She was very helpful and took note of our request, assuring us that the receptionist working the next day would be informed. The next morning, at 7:15 AM, I went to the reception desk to confirm that the taxi had been arranged as requested. The receptionist did not speak English, which was completely understandable, and therefore called the supervisor/manager on duty. When he arrived, he informed us that he had never been told about our request and stated that the hotel does not book taxis for guests. I asked, and honestly, nearly begged, whether he or any hotel staff could help us call a taxi. He bluntly refused and said that they simply do not provide that service. Do IT YOURSELF. Seriously, what kind of hotel cannot even assist guests with arranging a taxi? In addition, we were assigned a room that was not what I had booked based on the photos shown during the reservation process. When we checked in, the manager on duty explained that while it was the same room category, it was not necessarily the specific room shown in the booking photos. This was disappointing, as the room we received did not match our expectations based on the listing.

Arrival at the hotel was easy. About 5 minutes slow walk from the rail, staff helped get our bags upstairs and gave us a good welcome. However part of the hotel is without an elevator and our room was 2 steep floors up. Room 52 was under the eaves in the roof with 2 skylight windows each side. Windows were shut, blinds were up and it was 32 + degrees outside ..... extremely warm inside. We utilised the fan. Breakfast was terrific- a great start and the Palace was about 5 minutes walk. Street side restaurants are everywhere
