The rooms are a little outdated but it is a good location. The restaurant there has excellent food and good, friendly service. The restaurant fills up and that uses up parking for the inn. Mattress was a little hard but room had everything we needed but could use some modern touches.

Worth it just for the on site restaurant! Old school with multiple courses included and some of it was over the top good. The oil for the bread course and dip for the veggie tray was great! We had the surf and turf special for $29! Lobster tail was good. Steak was ok. Probably tenderized and i don't love that texture. The green beans are amazing. Never thought I'd write that sentence. Service was not great but good (there were multiple mistakes like forgetting the soup course until the entree came and giving both of us the wrong sides), but she was very nice and hooked us up with half and half for coffee. We had doggy bags to put in the fridge. Check in was with the bartender and you didn't really know that unless you go to the bar and ask. Lots of smokers outside the motel rooms. We weren't sure if they were workers staying there for a job or guys living there.

This is my 2nd visit. The room was spacious and clean. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Steakhouse was very good, definitely an added bonus having such a nice restaurant on-site. Thank you, Robert, appreciate your kind hospitality at the bar.

My only complaint is with the information given by Expedia. Expedia states the check-in desk is open 24/7. That is incorrect. It normally closes around 9 PM. Fortunately the motel called me a little after 9 and then waited for me until I arrived at 9:45. They say Expedia has not been responsive to their efforts to clarify the matter. I would definitely stay there again. People are nice, rooms are clean and spacious and bathrooms have been renovated and there is a nice attached restaurant.

An affordable good place, people were very kind. Not a lot of places to stay in the area,so perfect if looking for a place to sleep. The toilet wasnt thoroughly cleaned, but otherwise than that everything else was clean.

The room was decent but the sheets were covered in dog hair! Unfortunately I didn’t discover it until I arose in the morning. I was covered in two different lengths of dog hair, which is amazing because no pets are allowed and disgusting because I have to assume they don’t always change the sheets between guests. So disappointed!

Spotless accommodations in renovated room with excellent amenities. Very helpful & responsive gentleman checked me in a bit early while I ate lunch in their restaurant, brought me my key. Would stay at this motel again when in the area.

Bathroom sink had black hairs on the rim (I don’t have black hair) shower/tub also had not-my-hair in it. Room overall felt tired.

Fred’s Inn is a clean comfortable minimalist motel. This was our second stay here. The people are nice. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. We can’t ask for more. Conveniently located for our child’s college.

Stained towels. Coffee maker crusty and dirty You could see light through the door jamb where the locks/knob are like someone tried to break in. Good hot water in the shower though! Because we used it after the questionably clean jacuzzi tub. Wall ac was adequate

Fred’s Inn has been around for many years and the age of the main facility and the rooms show it. The check in area is dimly lighted but the staff was very friendly and checked us in very efficiently. Like the check in area, the room was dated and dimly lit. However, the room was clean and comfortable. It’s located about halfway between Norwich and Oxford, which made it convenient for us. In the morning there was truck noise coming from what looked like a gravel facility. There seemed to be few choices of hotels in the area but Fred’s appeared to be one of the better ones. Overall, we’re satisfied with our stay there.

Apparently Fred's is the best place to stay in the Norwich area. So says several people who live in the area. The room was clean. The bed was OK, a little soft for me but might be fine for others. The TV seemed only able to get channels from my subscriptions so I just didn't use it. Nice refrigerator with separate freezer section. Nice microwave.

Robert, the host, was easy to work with. The room was large and spacious. The mattress was old and had springs coming through. I ended up on the couch. Wi fi is spotty at best. Water pressure in the shower was poor. I was told that the inn is waiting for the delivery of new mattresses. I hope they arrive soon.

We've stayed before. Just a little mid-winter "getaway" close to home. It's a cute place. A little dated, but clean & quiet, and the ground floor rooms are easily accessible for mobility-impaired folks (unless you are in a wheelchair--doorjambs are rsised). Only real issue I have ever encountered: some rooms have softer matresses than others making them less comfortable (I like firm mattresses) & the multi-setting showerheads probably need changing as waterflow is not great. But part of that could be that the showerheads are way too high & it is almost impossible to change to another spray pattern. Botyom line: we will stay again.

I’ve stayed here before and loved it. This time because of wild thunder storms we couldn’t ride our motorcycles but unfortunately they were booked solid. The very pleasant Jen at the desk even offered to drive us to another motel and allow us to leave our bikes. Excellent service, excellent food. Love this place.

I am a no frills kind of gal when I travel. I want safety, clean sheets and running water. Fred's Inn is WAY more than this. The on site dining facility was an extra bonus. Checking into the inn was a tad confusing but the staff at the restaurant had me covered. I arrived just in time before the grill closed for the evening. My meal was fantastic, staff were all super nice and the locals are a true gem. My room was perfect for a quick nights sleep. I am very pleased that I picked Fred's Inn for my 1st night's stay in New York State. If/When I ever make it back this establishment will be on my list of places to be a return customer at.

Short stay, we were late to check in and was pleasantly surprised when we got a call from Robert letting us know the office was closing for the night, but what room we were in and where we could find our key! Now that’s service! Thank you!

The woman checking us in was also tending bar. We waited 15 minutes to get checked in. She wasn't friendly and only said we would be charged if we smoked, had a loud party, or had pets. No welcome, no smile. It was like we were an imposition. The sheets were stained and dirty. We found 2 black spiders in the bathroom and one one crawling down the bed. The only good thing about the property was the maid, who was friendly and doing her best. They need to do a better job laundering sheets and get pest control to treat the property.

Fred’s Inn has been around for many years and the age of the main facility and the rooms show it. The check in area is dimly lighted but the staff was very friendly and checked us in very efficiently. Like the check in area, the room was dated and dimly lit. However, the room was clean and comfortable. It’s located about halfway between Norwich and Oxford, which made it convenient for us. In the morning there was truck noise coming from what looked like a gravel facility. There seemed to be few choices of hotels in the area but Fred’s appeared to be one of the better ones. Overall, we’re satisfied with our stay there.

Apparently Fred's is the best place to stay in the Norwich area. So says several people who live in the area. The room was clean. The bed was OK, a little soft for me but might be fine for others. The TV seemed only able to get channels from my subscriptions so I just didn't use it. Nice refrigerator with separate freezer section. Nice microwave.

Chosen because of the proximity to Oxford. Overall, the property was in good condition. I did not like the bed or mattress in my room which lead to limited sleep/rest. The food and drinks from the bar/restaurant was very good. The interior decor at the restaurant was old and outdated, could use a little renovation. Last but not least the staff was very nice and polite.

This is an older hotel, but updated, clean and spacious. Stairs to 2nd floor rooms are a bit steep (didn't see an elevator). Room was warm and comfortable. If we were in the area again, we would certainly stay at Fred's.

Fred’s Inn is a clean comfortable minimalist motel. This was our second stay here. The people are nice. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. We can’t ask for more. Conveniently located for our child’s college.

I have stayed here before because there are limited options in the area. I really like the restaurant at the place, although it smells a little musty. Room is spacious and appeared to be clean until I rolled back the covers on one bed, and it smelled strongly of body odor. Hoping the prior guest just rolled it back up and staff thought it had not been used. I left a note for the housekeeper. The other bed was fine. I would stay again but would double check the beds.

Booked as an overnight stop for my wife and me returning home to Salamanca, NY from Cape Cod. Was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms and the comfortable bed. But the real gem was the adjacent restaurant. Incredible menu at very reasonable prices. Will definite book again if we're in the area!

Worth it just for the on site restaurant! Old school with multiple courses included and some of it was over the top good. The oil for the bread course and dip for the veggie tray was great! We had the surf and turf special for $29! Lobster tail was good. Steak was ok. Probably tenderized and i don't love that texture. The green beans are amazing. Never thought I'd write that sentence. Service was not great but good (there were multiple mistakes like forgetting the soup course until the entree came and giving both of us the wrong sides), but she was very nice and hooked us up with half and half for coffee. We had doggy bags to put in the fridge. Check in was with the bartender and you didn't really know that unless you go to the bar and ask. Lots of smokers outside the motel rooms. We weren't sure if they were workers staying there for a job or guys living there.

Bed was comfortable. Restaurant not open in the morning so the only option for coffee upon waking was the coffee in the room which was only decaf and the cups didn't fit under the machine. The microwave smelled like burned popcorn. The water took a long time to get warm and there was very little water pressure in the shower. The air conditioner squealed the whole time it ran. It was hard to unlock the door with the key. Old locks definitely need to be updated. Definitely not worth the cost.
