Lovely hotel with beautiful roof top bar, pleasant staff, main entrance on side street allows for quiet entrance and provides feeling of safety. Towels are quite stiff and toilet paper is very coarse!

This hotel was super clean, and in a great location. It is pretty much walking distance from the main area. The service and staff was amazing. However, it was just a little loud at night due to the noise coming from outside. Other than that, the hotel was a great choice. My favorite spot was the terrace on floor 6. Amazing view.

Great location. Our only issue was having to track down housekeeping for tissues, coffee and soap. They would often come by when one is getting ready for dinner and slip a note below. Had turn down services one out of 7 nights. Not consistent.

We really liked everything about it EXCEPT it was very loud outside until almost 4am (it was a Thursday night/Friday morning). Our room was on the 3rd floor so definitely try for something higher. Otherwise we really enjoyed it and would stay there again.

The customer service was outstanding. Everyone was top notch. I wished I could recognize everyone from memory, but that is just not possible. Pablo went completely out of his way for us. We were having trouble with an Uber driver, and he walked us to a corner and gave the driver instructions on where to meet us. In my opinion, that is above and beyond. Edward brought our bags to the room and offered our first impression of the staffing at your hotel. He too was excellent, informative, and very courteous. We have absolutely zero complaints about our stay at the Principal Madrid. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The reception, lounge, and bar area, are well appointed, comfortable, and well staffed at all times. The only meal that we ate at the hotel was breakfast one morning. No fault of theirs, we just wanted to explore Madrid. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful. Thank you very much for a wonderful and pleasurable stay.

The hotel was excellent with good but intimate feeling common space. Wonderful staff. Very good dining. They offered car transport which we asked for. However the price was not disclosed resulting in a VERY OVERPRICED transfer from the hotel to the train station. Disappointing really. 65 Euros for a five minute drive.

Our stay at The Principal Hotel in Madrid was disappointing. Though the staff was welcoming at first, the hotel itself fell far short of expectations. We booked a junior suite expecting extra space and quiet, but the room was surprisingly small, and the hotel was very dim with poor lighting. Worst of all, the noise outside was unbearable—people were yelling and drinking late into the night, making it impossible to sleep. This caused us to miss the prepaid breakfast the next morning. When we spoke to the front desk later, the clerk was apologetic and offered to comp our breakfast for the next day and cancel the previous charge. However, the new shift ignored this promise and charged us in full. They were so disorganized that when we asked for our luggage to be brought down (as we had a driver waiting), it was left untouched. After breakfast, we were stuck waiting for an elevator that didn’t work, and the staff offered no help. We had already checked out, so we didn’t have the key needed to access the other elevator, and again, no one assisted us. Despite the high rates, the service and experience were subpar. We had another reservation for the following week but canceled it. The hotel is overpriced, the rooms are small and noisy, and only a few staff members were helpful. They made promises they didn’t keep, and overall, they don’t seem to prioritize their guests. Avoid The Principal Hotel if you have the option.

Centrally located near the Gran Via, the hotel allowed us to see a great deal of Madrid during our two nights in the city. I was disappointed at the small size of our room but I know that’s not unusual for Europe. While the rooftop bar was closed during our stay which was disappointing, there was another terrace at a lower level to have a cocktail or snack while seeing the top of the city.

Wonderful. We have stayed several times and it is always perfect. Location is wonderful Calle Serrano is 10 minutes away walking. Calle Alcaya is 2 minutes away Gran Via is 1 minute away Museo El Prado is 10 minutes away.
