My first stay at a Virgin hotel and I was very impressed. The check-in was friendly and efficient, and, most importantly, the resources I had mailed in advance of my stay (and arrived 12 days earlier) were assigned to my booking and bought to my room immediately after checking in. A small thing, but a huge fail by so many other hotels I’ve stayed in over the years. The room was clean, well laid out, with nice touches and quirky features. The addition of a kettle, fridge and a decent hairdryer also made things easier. Plenty of hangers, of good quality, with storage to match. I liked the space around the sink, the basket for dirty towels, the quality product range, shower room seat, and consistent room temperature. There was just enough space for my suitcase to remain open on the floor, but this would not be possible with two people with a case each. The gym was excellent, really well equipped, never too busy and had water on tap! Lifts were regular, reliable, and plenty of them (4), and the lobby was always staffed with reception and security and bellboy. Location of the hotel is excellent, allowed good access to main roads in and out of City, 45 mins from airport in an uber. I enjoyed the opportunity to walk easily from the hotel to all major attractions, even if -17c outside! The metro train was outside the hotel, and was slightly noisy, but never disruptive to me - I’m used to nearby metro at home!

Bars and restaurants barely ever opened. Rooftop not available for most of the time on Saturday for a private party. The amenities are part of what you are supposed to get with this hotel, not an optional package. Was unable to use any of them because the bar was closed most of the time, didn’t have any snack and the rooftop closed. Will never return. Too bad because the rooms are decent. Please note lots of noise from metro/train on the block if on lower floors (can still hear on flore 17) and you can hear the rooftop music until 2am (from floor 17, which is 10 floors below the rooftop). So noise insulation is pretty poor in general.

Great accommodations and excellent service! The front desk staff was pleasant, professional, and helpful and the two vouchers for free drinks at the wonderful rooftop bar was a nice surprise. Self-park voucher for $30 for 24 hours is amazing for Chicago! The city/river views from the rooftop bar are spectacular. Only negatives were lack of microwave or refrigerator space in the room. Despite that, we highly recommend!

Hotel staff and room were awesome..bed very comfortable. Coffee shop was great had great fast breakfast options. Had Miss Rickie's one day was really great food. Only complaint would be the rooftop bar evening clientele...did not feel comfortable and they were loud and raucous.

Very crowded. Waited over 39 mins for valet (at $80 per day). Then waited 15 mins for elevators. Huge line in the lobby waiting to go to roof top bar. They need elevators dedicated to hotel guest.

For the price I paid I was disappointed. Bums with their pants down at the entrance of the building - front desk laughed and said “that’s city life”. At the entrance of my room were ceiling tiles; all yellow and dirty, you could see the insulation seeping through. Shower floor was not cleaned or they need to just regrout. The location is next to the train so sleeping was not ideal.

Hotel is very clean and located in a good area if you’re wanting to walk to many historical sites. The staff is nice. Nothing over extraordinary but nice. The rave about the beds isn’t quite true. But the pillows are super comfortable. I would stay here again.

I loved the location of the property, and the overall concept of something fun and funky, but I had a "higher end" room, and it was right near the elevator, so I got a lot of noise on that side, plus the El from the other side. The rug wasn't super clean (although the bedding and the rest of the room were a delight). The most annoying thing was the TV. Anything I turned it to, 10 minutes later to the minute, it went back to the Virgin channel #1, here are all our hotels in the world. I really hated having to stay on top of a show, when usually I want the tv on as background while I'm getting ready, etc. Also, this hotel's amenities were oversold, i.e., good luck getting on the rooftop, especially if you just wanted a quiet sip of a drink. I loved the cafe and the staff, though, everyone was very pleasant.

Bugs in the room, very dirty bathroom. Door handle broken. Paper thin walls people next to us loud all night like 3-4 am. Hair in the sink. Rooftop bar service poor very rude staff. Was asked to move after spending 40 dollars on a lemonade no booze and 1 drink. Said the spot was reserved no signs like the other tables. We over heard the bouncer laughing when we moved they let some friends take our spot. Carpet in room stained. No I did not complain at the property was only there for 3 nights. Wasn’t worth saying anything. There were people picketing out front and they block our way in last night and were very rude.

The property is in a great location downtown. The rooms are interesting in how they are styled. The floors were dirty and obviously not mopped (no carpets). I took off my shoes and within 5 min the bottom of my feet were full of dust and hair. There was also a dried up contact lens on the floor. The TV also would turn off on its own every time you went to the channel guide. Overall, should have been much better for the price.

The stay was very nice, and we loved the rooms, coffee shop, robes, and rooftop bar! However, I did notice a few things were missing. For a nice hotel that is pet-friendly, I was surprised there wasn't a dog bowl, a fun amenity, or treats. There also wasn't complimentary water, which is odd for a $470 room. The little touches were lacking. I would stay again due to the room and location. Thanks!

Virgin has a good location- close to all the Chicago fun.. Be ware- worst WiFi of any hotel I have ever stayed in- and I stay in hotels 30-45 nights a year for past 15 years… so bad could not use and had to use hot spot on my phone… if you need to work in your room- avoid this hotel!! That said, our one bedroom River view suite was nicely appointed and housekeeping did a great job!!!

The property was so amazing and clean. We got the grand suite and it was perfect. The suite is really nice and lots of space to place your belongings and get ready! It is beside the train so always make sure you’re placed on a higher floor to avoid the noise

From the moment we arrived we felt very lucky to be staying in the Chicago Virgin Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel itself was excellent. We loved our room and the gym. The coffee bar on the ground floor was excellent. The location of the hotel couldn’t be better, perfect for exploring a wonderful city in Chicago.

The guest services staff made my wife’s birthday very special with a bottle of Prosecco and truffles. The room was perfect. All staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. The location is hard to beat. Will definitely return.

We enjoy staying at this property when we visit Chicago, as it really is right in the heart of the city. Many sights and great restaurants are within walking distance or a mere short Uber ride away. Very pleasant front desk staff, and the coffee shop has a great brew!

We loved the room. Especially the shower. The location was perfect to the trains and points of interest. Roof top bar had great views. Food at the restaurant was tasty with unique options. Could you improvement on check in. Room not ready at the check in time. Would have like a microwave. Expected 2-ply toilet paper.

Very convenient location downtown with plenty to do nearby. We tried the in house restaurant Miss Rickys, good italian food and service. Room was very quiet and comfortable with good shower. Unfortunately rooftop terrace was closed due to weather but city views would be amazing in the summer.
