I was in charge of planning our annual Harley trip with three of my friends. We ride hard all day and like to stay at a fine hotel that has a bar and fine dining. When I came across The Inn in Wise, I thought this would fit the bill completely. Their website header states "Dine in southern style restaurants" The website goes on to say " Both the Corner Diner and The Pub and Tap Room are favorites of Wise VA residents" In addition, when you check in, they have a banner in the lobby that shows the restaurant with its fine linen tablecloths. Well once we checked in, I asked where the bar and restaurants noted in the website where, and I was informed that they were all "closed" When I asked when they closed, they said over a YEAR ago! They have continued to misrepresent their property by failing to change, or make a note on their website. I spoke with the manager, and the area manager for the Newport Hospitality Group that owns the Inn, and the gave us each $50 credit. They said they would change the website, but as I prepare this review, 10 days after our stay, the website still has not been changed. Its hard to understand how a reputable Hospitality group could continue to misrepresent their property. BUYER BEWARE

We were on a motorcycle trip and had camped two days and it was time for some civilization before continuig on. The Inn filled our needs perfectly. This building was built in 1910 and has been updated several times but not enough to eliminate the original charm. Theres a lot of history inside those walls and we loved it,i cludi g the imperfections that make it unique. The elevator goes from the parki g garage to the second floor so if you have difficulty with stairs I would not recommend a room on the third floor, although my wife said it was very intriguing. Five miles south of Wise is Norton Va. and a little bar and grill with a Sasquatch theme called the Woodbooger Bar and Grill, hands down some of the finest food you could ask for and probably the best burgers and onion rings I have ever had. You won't be disappointed in either the Inn or Woodbooger( Woodbooger is another name for Sasquatch)

Beautiful, comfortable, and quiet hotel. Very friendly staff. The rooms have plenty of power outlets and strong WiFi. Parking underneath is a little tight but easy to access. Surprisingly, there is only one handicapped parking space under there but there are more in the outside parking lot. We have stayed here on several occasions and have never been disappointed.

Unfortunately, this gem of a hotel hasn’t quite recovered from the pandemic. The bar and restaurant never reopened but they do serve breakfast in the morning, so that was a huge positive. The elevator was down (and will be for another 3-4 weeks). Otherwise, I really love the building, the staff was really nice, and it’s within walking distance of several restaurants. Very close to the college campus and winery ad well. Walmart/food city, everything is convenient.

I loved the history and it was nice room but we were on 2nd floor, I have a bad back and my husband Parkinson’s and the elevator was broke. Someone should have been available to help with luggage. Stairwell extremely hot and vending machines were even broke

Beautiful old bldg. I like on 2nd floor to go out to a porch and rock. I have back problems. Was placed in second floor. Was not told w checking in the elevator was broke. I strained back carring luggage up to second from garage. The stairwells were unbearably hot.

We have stayed here a couple times to meet up with family. Quaint little town. Easy walking to a grocery store, coffee/ice cream shop and to a couple restaurants. Positives. The service desk attendants were very nice and allowed us to check in early. The King room, with sofa, was very spacious. The complimentary Breakfast was very good as there was a good selection of breakfast items, and the attendant was very active ensuring the items were not depleted. Large dining area available. Negatives. The room could have been cleaner as the comforter and mattress cover needed washing, the bathroom needed sweeping, and there was hair on the shower door. The Keurig did not work, and the bed was a little too firm. Overall, we enjoy staying at the Inn and would recommend staying here.

We stayed in a suite style room in the old part of the inn. It was dingy with the little sofa looking very worn and the curtains having spider webs. The beds we clean and so was the bathroom and I suspect the newer part of the inn Is likely in better condition.

I was excited to stay at The Inn at Wise. I visited often as a child living in the area. The Inn used to be a grand place. Not so much now. The Inn needs cleaning most of all. The walls and door frames were dirty, not worn, dirty. The floors were uneven and caused difficulty walking with a cane. The cabinet holding the TV in sitting area had its drawers standing open due to its leaning. The sitting area had no independent control for AC making the bedroom freezing just to be comfortable in sitting area. My biggest concern is the lack of security. When I arrived found a sign telling me the clerk was away for 10 - 15 minutes. I would have been able to look at and go through anything there. There was no key control for access to the building from the parking garage. The bright note of the visit was the free breakfast. It was fresh and had good offerings.

There was no hot water and when it came through it was brown and full of rust and minerals. Management felt bad and we changed rooms but we had the issue again. They need to replace their hot water heater.

This is a beautiful historic Inn. However, it sits right on the main street and they don't appear to have mufflers in Wise. A noisy car came by about every 5 minutes all night. The people in the room next to me started making noise and banging on the wall at 1:00a.m.! After a call to thw front desk they stopped bamging but i heard them moving around anf their TV all night. Paper thin walls! I even have ear buds in. I wanted to love this place but I got no sleep.

Nevertheless, the rooms are in need of renovation, and the mattresses lacked comfort. A pleasant breakfast was provided, but the loud wedding reception that extended beyond 10pm and disorderly guests in the hallways were significant concerns. All of the modern conveniences wrapped up in fantastic Inn. The staff was friendly and quick with a recommendation or to fulfill any need we had. The hotel is beautiful well kept historical building. We were traveling across country, exhausted by the time we arrived. Check was quick, the room was perfect, the bathroom was spacious. The only downsides were the lack of tea, and breakfast was sparse, albeit adequate. For a hotel so grand you'd expect eggs, biscuits and gravy, something more than waffles and grab and go.
