It is in the middle of the city, so it was convenient to walk to any location. We were in room number 1, and the blinds did not cover the lights very well. So, I suggest changing the blinds to make the room more private. We set up a 1 1/2 hour couples massage, and it was wonderful and relaxing.

Not sure how this hotel gets top ratings. Our room was by front main street. Bed was all torn up underneath; we were concerned about bed bugs. Luckily, we didn’t see any. Floor hadn’t been clean in a while, so we had to wear slippers. The pool outside is creepy at night and not well lit, so don’t go alone. Otherwise, the stay was ok.

There is a private hot pool, just for guests. Most of the others are open to the public, so it was a nice surprise to have the entire pool to ourselves 3 different times!

I've stayed here a few times and they have the absolute friendliest people working the front desk, the rooms have always been very clean and for an older facility it is very well maintained. The small park behind it along the river is a great place to relax, as is the pool. The pool is closer to the river than the motel, but I absolutely LOVE where it is. It also boarders the park, is shaded by some nice trees and makes for a lovely evening soak!

I went over the Memorial Day weekend so no one was working at the hotel while I was staying there. I checked in and didn't see anyone until I checked out. The hotel is very clean and updated. I did like the hot springs pool that's owned by the hotel. Even though it's a block away from the hotel, but worth the walk. I will stay there again.

There were dead bugs in the room, dirty lamps and extremely dirty floor vents. They were broken as well. Two lamps had parts that were broken. The design of the room was terrible. I would never stay at this property again.

Place met expectations for a 2-star. Was clean (caulk in tub looked new), with worn furniture. Sheets were slightly scratchy but bed was perfect firmness. AC kept us cool and provided consistent white noise at a moderate level. Water pressure good, to the point of almost being aggressive. Not a lot of surfaces to place items on. For those with mobility issues, a couple steps and gravel in lot we used. Garden tub is deep and wide, but has grab bar to get in. The "resort" is spread out and close to other properties without consistent style/color or much signage, so it can be a bit confusing to navigate. Went to peek at hot pool on property after returning from public pools, but it was too dark for us to be sure we were going to the correct area or not. Overall served its purpose and checked the boxes most critical for us for a one night stay (clean, safe, quiet).

The room was really nice. We especially liked the large bathtub. The free access to the mineral pool was a definite plus too. The only bad thing was the amount of insects and spiders there were inside.

Many places in Lava are converted homes and I wanted an actual hotel. This place was nice, had a large bathroom and walk in shower. The train tracks go right by town so no matter where you stay you're going to hear them, this place is no exception. It's right in the middle of main street and all shopping and dining were 1 or 2 small blocks away which was fantastic. Parking is cramped as far as availability but we got a spot (last one). My only real complaint is the heater was loud any time it kicked on, which was often in order to keep the room warm in winter. We could also easily hear the people above us and every time they used their bathroom. It didn't bother me so much but it really bothered my sister. Just the way sound transfers through pipes you could hear peeing then really loud when the toilet flushed, their sink, or using the shower. Wasn't a deal breaker for me though. the state owned hot springs were an easy walk, about 4 little blocks away. I'd stay there again.

The person who contacted me regarding my reservation was great. She had keys ready for me for a late check in. It was a great price and it worked. In my opinion, it could be improved by ensuring that the Internet is set up to the television as I was not allowed to even watch basic television because there was no Internet. Internet was advertised. The blankets were incredibly thin and they weren’t on the bed. There were spiders we had to kill three. The floors are very soft and water leaked out of the standing shower badly. The bunkbed squeaked so badly every time you move that it woke everybody up. And the only chair to sit on was the two dining room chairs there was no chair or couch.

The folks at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were good and spacious. Fridges came with drinks for sale. The location was close to everything. Very convenient! Also has its own hot pool! Only thing is that the train tracks is nearby so we heard a train go by every so often.

Shower is a little small you can turn around in it, but you couldn’t raise your arms to wash yourself . but they’re very very firm. no counter desk just two nightstands two beds also no shelving or counter space and bathroom. We’ve stayed here many of times and had a great experience. This was the worst.

Quick and easy checkin, free hot chocolate and coffee on site. Everything within walking distance, hot pool on site, rooms are big with full cable. Only con is right off Main Street so there is street noise and people walking by. Night light right outside our room and no blackout shades, had to make our own.

Prime location on Main Street!!! We will stay here again. Staff is friendly and really accommodating. The only thing I didn’t like was the comforter was itchy and uncomfortable but it’s fine, I’ll bring my own next time ;)

We took a weekend trip up to enjoy the hot springs for the first time. We loved staying at The Lava Hotel. The staff was so nice and more than happy to answer any questions about the area and gave us excellent recommendations. The private pool for their visitors was a nice relief from the crowds at the other hot springs. We will definitely be back!

Super cute old fashioned hotel. Really spacious and had a great little outside eating area right in front that looked over Main Street. A one minute walk to the right has you in a great little gelato/coffee shop. Great trip and great pool. Highly recommend

We staid at the cabin which was so cute and well laid out. It was a little noisy the floor was very creaky and the window unit was very loud when it turned on. But all in all it was still a nice relaxing stay conveniently located in town we were able to walk to the restaurants and the main pools. We were a bit disappointed the pool was yellow they said it was because the river water levels were high. However we did see that other pools near by the water all semed ok and not yellow.

Staff was fantastic! The place smelled like waffles every time I walked in. Really added something!! Bed was comfortable. Small room came with fridge and microwave which was nice for us soda and popcorn lovers. Easy walk to everywhere in town! The buildings/rooms outside lack of cleanliness and the spiderwebs everywhere on the windows did make it feel like we were camping.
