This hotel is 12 floors from entrance to onsen. It has 1 elevator. That’s 1 elevator for guests & staff. You will regularly wait 5-10 minutes for it. You will have it open up to a linen cart that takes up nearly the entire inside. You will have housekeepers fill it with bags of garbage & have no choice but to ride along with. That 1 elevator was down for maintenance & also broke down several times during our stay - requiring is to walk up to/down from our 10th floor room on a very narrow, external stairwell. Because of that, we regret staying there and will never return. Now, I love Dormy Inns - staying at them in Osaka, Ikebukuro, outside Shinuya. This was the worst one even without the elevator issue. The onsen is the smallest; the rooms are the smallest. We were told we’d only get 1 cleaning during our 9-day stay; when I called the night before to schedule it, the staff member didn’t put the request in - I believe not understanding my slow, remedial English. I asked 3 days in a row for extra pillows & was turned down. My wife needed her head elevated, but we were stuck with sharing 2 tiny pillows until finally receiving (just) 1 more. We got the breakfast once, which was worth the ¥2000 per person even if a staff member yelled at me for trying to take one last little plate of hijiki she was gathering to throw out. Sorry for not wanting to waste food I kinda paid for…? the elevator situation is a deal-breaker. Stay at any other Dormy Inn in Tokyo. Just don’t stay here.

This is a very pleasant hotel in the middle of the market and restaurants of Taitoo district. Apart from the lovely bath area, there is a relaxation library with manga books and free ice cream or probiotic drinks. They also serve late night noodles free. However, If you are thinking of choosing this hotel because of it its hot spring baths, I must warn that you are not welcome if you are wearing tattoos. You initially only get the information that you must bring the towels from your room, and you are not allowed to wear swimwear, but once you enter the area there are several signs that not even fake tattoos are permitted, and they offer no stickers to cover them.

hot bath is tiny area with 2 tiny pools, it gets very crowded at night time. There is only 1 elevator, expect wait time is long to go thro 12 floors. The breakfast buffet is cheap for different varieties of food. Serve free ice creams, yogurts and ramen in different time of the day in the hotel. Hotel location is convenience for dining, shopping and all transportation. Room is actually quiet when all the windows are closed.

This was at least my 5th time staying at this hotel. I found the front desk staff friendlier and more attentive than my last couple of visits. If any downside to say about my stay at all, it is the absence of a room cleaning service. They stopped providing regular room cleaning service, which I think is acceptable for people only staying 1-2 nights. However, I found it a bit odd not to have this service when my family and I spent a total of 5 nights with them.

We loved our stay here. Location is perfect, close to train stations and restaurants and shops. Hotel room was small of course, but very comfortable and EXTREMELY quiet. We heard no noise from trains or other rooms. Onsen was lovely. We thought it would be busy but when we went there was usually no one else there. Staff was great. Breakfast was wonderful. The food was very fresh, tasty, and a combination of Japanese and western foods.

Rooms were small. Got stuck in a smoking room with a small bed even though we booked for 3 people. They didn't have a futon to lend us either. But we made it work. 3 of us just had to cram in to a double bed. Bathing facility was small as well but clean and functional. Overall staff was nice and we had a good experience. The hotel location is gold. Its unbeatable. It's in the heart of one of the liveliest area. Walk out and in a few steps there are tons of food and shopping. Also like 2 min walk to the closest station. Will stay here again.

While the room was small and simple, it was clean and staff were friendly. Big bath and sauna is a plus. The only down side is how cleaning staff moves their cleaning supplies through narrow hall ways and occupying the only elevator for the building. I also found their stuff spread across the hall ways disorganized.

Great place with smaller bathing area that other Dormy Inn's I've been to but very clean. It is located directly next to a Family Mart and the adjoining streets are shopping area with tons of small shops and restaurants. It can get very busy and loud during the evening rush, but the food options are plenty and excellent. Both JR Ueno and Okachimachi are within 10 minute walks and nestled in the shopping district is also a subway station entrance.

First Dormy stay. Cool concept/group. Great staff. Extensive Japanese breakfast. Guest laundry colocated with onsen area. Unlike most of Japan, neighborhood is actually fairly dirty with lots of street trash. That said, great restaurants, shopping of all kinds all around the hotel; and, location is superb for accessing transit throughout the city as well as for day trips via Ueno station, and, access to Ueno Park for green space and museums.

The amenities are absolutely incredible, the staff are kind and accommodating, the room is small but cozy. The location is superb being right out of shopping streets and so close to Ueno Station and Ueno Park. Fantastic place that I would love to stay again!

We liked: ONSEN! Good breakfast buffet, great location for shops, transport and restaurants. Free washing machines. Okachimachi is an area full of character and it’s wonderful to just wander the narrow streets full of market stalls and shops. Hotel was able to provide late checkout for a fee of ¥1000 per person per hour which was much appreciated. We actually stayed twice in the same trip as we like the area and onsen so much. We didn’t like: Tiny rooms but we know this is standard in Tokyo. It would just be nice to get out of bed on both sides, and actually store clothes. Just 1 elevator so it can take a while to get in/out. Breakfast room only has about 20 seats so if you go after 8am you might have to wait.

Good as always: * Location close to Okachimachi and Ueno stations for JR lines, and multiple subway lines. Many shops and restaurants within a 5 min walk. * Good breakfast with hot rice, natto, salads, scrambled eggs, homemade onigiri and more * Onsen on 12th floor although it is overcrowded if more than 3 people in there at once Bad: * Pillows too hard to sleep on. Last time I went to Reception they said they had no different pillows so I ended up just sleeping without * 1 lift for all floors which usually takes a while to arrive
