The Mountford Hotel - Free Parking

This is the 5th time we have stayed at The Mountford and once again 10/10 We travel down for business and always use this hotel as it’s great. Nice big rooms, comfortable beds and the whole hotel is spotless. They do a continental breakfast which is great. Parking on sight or very safe on the street outside.

The parking wasn’t good but managed to get a space the next day .

Fanastic location for transport, bus stops to go anywhere in the City is within 1 minute of the hotel and thats walking slowly, well stocked bar, guinness, Coors and Carling on draught, pool table for a bit of fun, its all here.

The hotel was just okay, although the pillows were small and thin and the duvet was thin also. The room was a good size with most essentials, but the main window would not shut and, thanks to high winds, it rattled all night long so I barely slept. The breakfast was just okay, although the tea and coffee not good. The free parking consists of about 8 spaces, which go very quickly if there are more than a few people staying. We ended up parking on the street even though we got there not long after the start of the check in time.

Great location for Sefton Park and south Liverpool. Exceeded expectations and good value for money. Need to drop the "free parking" from the name as none was available when we visited but parked on a nearby side street.

WiFi very good , quite , plenty of space for my van , very nice place , all clean

Really good experience. Friendly staff, good breakfast and a great location for travelling around the area. Parking was limited which was a little bit disappointing, but able to park close by on the road.

Building was lovely but tired. Shower was poor and needed changing. The lift was welcomed. Continental breakfast was good. The bed was too hard.

It was very easy to find our hotel and it looked inviting from outside. Unfortunately there was no parking spaces available, but it did appear that you could park on the road outside, The doorbell wasn’t answered immediately and we had a couple of minutes wait. Having said that the receptionist was very polite and efficient. We had to have breakfast between 8 and 8.50 which is quite early for an 11am checkout. The room was clean but needing a little attention. The curtains were missing a hook and the holdback was missing with some holes in the wall paper. There was a lot of cobwebs behind the tv! The bathroom was clean and all the linen and towels were perfect. Our biggest negative was the lack of pillows. Only 2 very sad examples and no cushions anywhere to make things more comfortable. Breakfast was an adequate continental with lovely coffee! Checkout was easy and we were offered a discount should we book directly in future. Just have to wait now for my £50 deposit to be returned…!

Very fair priced hotel. Free parking though car park tight when guests full. Complimentary breakfast is a win... Can't complain at all

Noticed a few marks on the radiators ...windows dirty....overall staff was good but cleanliness in the room could be better

Can’t fault the service, the lady in the front desk was helpful and well prepared. Check in was fairly quick although they ask for a £50 damage deposit which we weren’t aware of until a message a week before our stay. Room was small and dark and lighting wasn’t great. Bathroom was very clean and well equipped and left plenty of towels etc. The rest of the room was dusty, cobwebs on the ceiling and blind was dirty too. Bed and linen was clean though. Wallpaper peeling and needs updating throughout. Our bathroom door had also had the mechanism of the handle removed so could not shut or lock the door. The main reception and bar was clean but as you moved through the property to the rooms there was a damp smell. Although we only stayed the one night housekeeping came in way before checkout time to clean the room as if they hadn’t kept a note of which rooms had already left. Not the best.

The hotel itself has seen better days. It was quite rundown. The reception staff were very welcoming and informative. We stayed in room 10, which upon entry had a damp, musty smell. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room had peeling wallpaper, areas where mould was growing. The bathroom ceiling and around the door frame had black mould on it. The bar area of the hotel served a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. The armchairs in the bar were stained and worn. The continental breakfast was as minimal as one could get. One choice of coffee or tea, just basic white or brown sliced bread, basic cereals, flat croissants and pain au chocolats, dry waffles, one flavour choice of yoghurt, poor quality tinned fruit. I could go on. There was parking for 6 cars on the hotel premises but plenty of free on street parking nearby. The hotel is closed to two parks and a short walk to shops.

Tv in room not secured to wall so it was hanging a bit precariously One of the bedside lights was hanging off the wall Mirror over sink all cracked Windows in room and bathroom not cleaned which became more obvious when steam from shower showed a p3n!s and long finger marks which had been made on the window. Pillows very thin. 2 together felt like 1 pillow. Mattress basic but ok. Continental breakfast also very basic. The room where it was served was really small and the breakfast sittings mean you have a cluster of people all at once. Not well laid out. £50 security payment held by hotel from my credit card which is going to take up to 30 days to be paid back. I travel a fair amount for work and found this really unusual, more so because it’s just for the first time I book here. If I come back it won’t be taken again. But it’s taken for additional cleaning charges etc.

Very convenient for a visit to family nearby. General areas are great. Breakfast was good. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The room itself was a bit dark making it feel a bit dingey, but it was very comfortable and quiet. Would definitely stay here again. The £50 deposit is a bit of a pain, especially when only staying 1 night, but i guess theres a reason they feel they need to take it.

Comfortable, clean, friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel was grand but needs some TLC. Check in was good but need to wait in the adjacent games room during busy times as the receptionist also serves the bar. All the staff were polite and attentive. Free self parking on site in front or at back (register at reception). Ours was a small en suite double room with high ceilings and a courtyard view. Decor a bit dated and room and passages are musty smelling but after I opened the window the room was ok. Amenities include lift, towels, toiletries, mirror, tv, kettle tea coffee sugar milk in room, and a chair plus side table in room. Free continental breakfast in the basement (only accessed by steps which are a problem for those with mobility issues and is the most musty smelling). There are few good restaurants and shops within a 15 min walk. What needs improvement is (1) there is no water dispenser in the lobby/reception. (2) no aircon (3) no hair dryer (4) not enough space between bed , chair, bathroom etc. ie too poky and narrow (5) my mum uses an iPhone and connected to wifi but my Android just wouldnt connect to wifi at all even after restarting as suggested by the receptionist. I gave up after an hour and ended up not working and using only my mobile data (6) passages need to be ventilated / aired (7) shoddy tiling and missing /stained grout in the bathroom I wont be surprised if the rooms below have leaks

Staff only answer door between 3-6 pm, single glazed windows, heating turned off overnight and back on in the morning, bathroom windows didn’t close properly, very dirty, mould on windows, thin doona, peeling wallpaper, tiles falling off in shower, had to run shower for up to 4 minutes before warm water comes through, breakfast was the worst , meagre offerings complete with an odd man in a thick coat who stood in the shadows with a phone in his hand muttering, and watching customers while they ate in the silent breakfast room. There’s so, so much more, with photos. Just awful.

Had a lovely stay at the Mountford. Great transport links to Liverpool city centre. Really warm and friendly reception on arrival. Cleanliness and comfort were fantastic. Room decor a bit dated but fantastic common rooms and would absolutely rebook in the future. Great value for money compared to other hotels too.

The location was good with free parking and the staff helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I do have a few comments about the room which needs a bit of work. The single glazed sash windows were open a few inches at the top letting in all the traffic noise. The curtains were hanging off the rail, the blinds torn and frayed, the bathroom door didn’t close properly and had no lock and in places the wallpaper was peeling off. The place is tired and dated and needs modernising. I won’t be back and feel that the money I paid was too much for the room we were given.

Clean basic comfortable room but very dated. Breakfast was ok. We paid £140 for a saturday night which seems a bit much for what we got. Sunday night was £41 which is more reasonable. Reception check in was friendly and welcoming.

Our stay started off so well, we accidentally arrived to the hotel early so called in and found out our room was already available for check-in, we did so and then headed out into Liverpool to do some shopping. We returned later that night to discover that the curtain tie-backs were hanging off the wall, after trying to close the window as we could hear the main road traffic, we discovered that they infact, didn't seal. I went downstairs and called the night attendant who tried to find us a new room to stay in, we then packed up and moved to a new room, to find that the wallpaper was peeling in the second room, the curtains didn't cover the entirety of the window and once again the windows didn't shut properly.

Terrible room. Traffic noise is loud and windows are single glazed and draughty. Beds are really unsupportive and bouncy and you can feel the springs. Lighting is dim in room. Wall lights loose, tatty roller blinds that don’t fit and/or open. Bathroom shower screen with a gap that allows all the water to flood out.

Lovely hotel, would stay again. Some people would find it dated but not a problem for us. My issue was with the design of the room. No mirror in the bedroom or artwork and the lighting was poor. Room was small and difficult to move around in with the size of the furniture in there. Otherwise, had a great sleep and the room was importantly very clean.

The room was clean, tidy and we were well supported by staff when required. Parking was adequate and the bus stop was handy for transport to Liverpool centre. Pillows could have been in better condition but that would be my only downside.

In my opinion any double bed and over should have at least 4 pillows. Mine in room 2 only had 2.I realise I probably could have asked but really shouldn’t have to. Bedside lights need fixing properly and the same with curtain tie backs. Bathroom was very good with a good shower Hotel value was very good Breakfast was very good Having a superior room with the extra space was well worth the extra cost All in all very happy with my stay and would use again

Very limited parking,. you have to drive up a very narrow lane only to find about 5 parking spaces. They do state on the website that on street parking is available if car park is full but there was absolutely no available parking on the street either. This is a relatively new hotel but the room allocated was very basic and an odd shape, the bed was hard and lumpy and the hallway light was on all night which shone through the bedroom room making it extremely difficult to fall asleep in which wouldn't have mattered anyway as we were kept awake by all the guests laughing and talking as they passed our room. Make sure you don't get allocated Room 1. We tried to have a shower at 8am but there was no water running through the hot taps and when I went to reception to enquire I was met with a blank stare , a shrug of the shoulders and told they couldn't do anything about it, no apology, no coming to the room to try and see what the problem was. Shocking customer service . I was told to come back at 9am as the manager didn't start until then. We had to leave at 8.45 for an appointment . I would have at least expected the manager to contact us once they arrived at the hotel but I fear the complaint was not passed on. Awful experience and will never return or recommend.

Stayed overnight while visiting family. Receptionist was very efficient friendly and welcoming. Explained everything well. Rooms were clean and comfortable

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beds were comfortable. Could have done with an extra pillow, though we didn't ask. Able to check in earlier than expected. Location was ideal and plenty of buses for the City Centre and to get to Anfield which was the purpose of the trip.

I used this hotel as a 'room' after a wedding that was close by. An early check-in was accommodated with no fuss and the room was great - just what i needed at a decent price.

Third time staying here for a business trip. The man on the front desk at night is so lovely and helpful. Comfy beds, great showers, good breakfast. Will be staying again next time we are down.

I have never had to show my passport in a British hotel before. I have never had to leave a £50 holding fee. Both of these issues meant I was scared to death to touch anything, use anything in the bathroom or speak to anyone about anything. We were shown to the wrong room. The hoops on the curtains rail came off when I tried to close the curtains, which were stuck and I called reception to explain and say that ot wasn't my fault. There was no plug in the bath and I asked for one. I was told that because people filled the bath without putting the plug in and ran the water out and made the water go cold, they removed all the plugs! (I can only imagine it happened on a regular basis or hordes of people did it to sabotage the hotel). However, why they thought that removing the plugs altogether to prevent people from filling the bath without the plug in was going to work, I have no idea! Insanity seems to rule! Only a continental breakfast was provided, but it was reasonably cheap and was expected. However, the fruit bowls were breakfast bowls of tinned syruppy fruit with a teaspoon to serve it out! We were also expected to clear up after ourselves - another thing I have never experienced in a hotel in UK before. Thankfully we got our deposit back. This was hardly surprising as I actually cleaned the bathroom as we went along to avoid giving them any reason to charge us further. Thinking back now I should have looked for cameras as I feel we were on a hidden camera show!

There could have been a few more staff on as the one member had to cover reception, the bar and they were unhappy reflecting on their friendliness to guests

The hotel looks like it had been a vintage house which has been turned into a small hotel. The staff were attentive and the interior spotless. Rooms were tiny. A solid complimentary breakfast was provided. A bus or taxi provides about a 20 minute ride to the center of Liverpool.

Good location to get into Liverpool with free parking. We parked our car and took the bus or walked everywhere. Local area(Lark Lane) was close by with lots of restaurants for dinner. Staff was friendly and bar on premises was great after a long drive and before dinner drink. Room was ok. Furniture dominated the room and being on the ground floor damp and dark. Breakfast included was ok. Coffee terrible.

We were given a warm and friendly welcome at the Mountford Hotel. Room was spacious and it was very clean. The breakfast was simple but adequate and shower worked very well. The bus stops right outside the door to take you in to the centre of town, and it is in a quiet area close to beautiful Srfton Park.

Great place and easy access to the city center. The bus stop right next to the hotel. Anfield anout 15 minutes by car and about 25 minutes by bus.

Really good stay just for the one night.Was disapointed that there was no cooked breakfast,only cereal and ham and cheese.

Pros: polite staff, breakfast included, 10-min drive to central Liverpool, warm rooms, parking included and generally a good option for a one-night budget stay. Cons: wouldn’t want to stay longer than just for the night, deposit on arrival is a pain, no hot breakfast food, and the shower plug hole was backing up with water.

Price was a bargain. Good size room / bathroom . Third time booking. Breakfast service and menu has significantly deteriorated. Breakfast organised in two groups , for our second 8.30am serving it was a presentation of seemed cheapest and poor quality cold meat products , cheese and hard boiled eggs. There was cereals and sliced bread to toast and one limp croissant. We went out for breakfast.

Lovely and friendly staff. Good variety at breakfast buffet: meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit, bread etc. They need a coffee machine - Rooms and bathrooms were large.

Tired hotel, poor breakfast

Superb room in a beautiful house with a nice lounge. Wide selection for breakfast, a shame the coffee was instant.
