The Luggage

The Luggage is a beautiful property however my family of 4 adults was assigned to stay at the attic so the ceiling is an angled rooftop the beds are underneath you can easily bump your head anytime. Uncomfortable beds specifically bumpy pillows need an upgrade. Had difficulty carrying our luggage up n down the room no elevator. Otherwise good breakfast with fresh fruits, walk to University, parked our luggage after checkout. Glad we only have to stay for one night. I’ll give it a rating of 3.5.

The hotel itself is nice. In a older building but in good condition. We found the staff friendly and willing to offer advice. The downside is there is no dedicated parking. We had to find parking on a near by side street which was not optimal. Also the hotel is not within easy walking distance so an uber will probably be neccessary

The apartment was not as described. It had no utensils, no dishes and no cooking equipment. There was no coffee maker or hot water heater. The young woman in charge made an excuse about it and did not offer any retribution. I had to walk out in the rain to the front of the building and ask for a coffee mug so I could heat water in the microwave for my own tea bag. The was no internet either. Also the shades did not work - some were stuck in the down position and others in the up position. The woman told us the people before us must have broken them.

Place was very nice. The only problem is the stairs. There is no elevator. Also it is on a hilly road. That was difficult to walk. We had to take Uber everywhere because of those hilly roads.

The luggage is a very clean and beautiful Hotel. Breakfast at the terrasse with a view over the city was wonderful!

Stayed in a studio room, very spacious with cooking facilities however no utensils, cutlery etc etc. Seems strange to have a hob & microwave but no way to use them

The Studio was very basic, no coffee maker, not even a kettle, there were zero amenities. 2 glasses for 3 people. It was odd.

Convenientemente bien ubicado, la recepción de Tony cordial, rápida, eficiente y llena de información sobre Coimbra. La habitación familiar amplia, desafortunadamente se sale mucho el agua de la ducha. Desayuno completo y bueno. Las instalaciones bien conservadas, bonito lugar en lo que anteriormente fue una estación de policía. Estacionamiento fuera en la calle de enfrente de pago y en una calle lateral gratis. Cercano 20 minutos de la zona turística.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel. It's beautifully decorated with a unique updated traditional style. The staff went out of their way to answer questions and make sure our stay was comfortable. One point to be aware of is the parking they provide is at a sister property a ways away and can make luggage drop off and pick up a bit complicated. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (and the amazing breakfast) and wished we could have stayed longer!

Emplacement un peu excentré, il y a peu à vour dans les environs immédiats, mais c'est tranquille et il y a une belle vue sur la ville depuis la terrasse. Pas de stationnement, alors qu'Expédia indique qu'il y en a. Personnel aimable et parlant plusieurs langues (portugais, anglais, français).

Sehr gut gelegen. Sauber. Empfehlenswert.

At glance the superior room looked great, but we had terrible smell from the bathroom sewer. The bed was also medium comfort.

La struttura è stata ricavata in uno stabile molto bello che prima era un edificio pubblico, in generale è stato fatto un bellissimo lavoro di conservazione degli elementi originali e l'accostamento con i nuovi mobili è davvero azzeccato. Peccato però per la mancanza di cura dei dettagli, non è il massimo entrare e trovare i tappetti tutti macchiati o avere il rubinetto rotto e il doccino molle. L'edificio comunque è situato a due passi dal centro, in una zona laterale molto silenziona e tranquilla perfetta per riposare bene. La stanza era grande e i letti molto comodi, ma peccato per l'odore di umido e le macchie di infiltrazione in bagno, capisco che la struttura è datata, ma è un problema da risolvere soprattutto per le stanze nel sottoterra. Colazione buona, ma anche qui farei attenzione a qualche dettaglio e pulizia.

My room was very clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the breakfast room and the breakfast they had which was about €10 and very much worth it. The breakfast room is sunny and has a view that is so lovely. The neighborhood is great and very close to the university. I thought the staff was very nice and accommodating. They were good hosts.

Ho soggiornato due notti presso questa struttura. Purtroppo il mio giudizio è fortemente condizionato da un terribile odore proveniente dal bagno che mi ha causato una forte nausea durante tutto il soggiorno. Purtroppo capisco possa capitare, però il personale una volta fatto presente il problema ha detto che avrebbe lavorato per risolvere lo spiacevole inconveniente, ma in realtà nessuno si è più fatto vivo sulla questione e il problema si è ripresentato anche la seconda notte. Tra l'altro nel tentativo di chiudere la porta del bagno per isolare l'odore a quella stanza le giunture della porta si sono rotte rendendola pericolante e non è stato fatto nulla nemmeno in merito a ciò. Quindi consiglierei al personale di prendere con maggiore considerazione le segnalazioni dei clienti. Nel dubbio evitate la camera al piano inferiore.

La struttura sarebbe molto bella, una costruzione di inizi del secolo scorso, ben ristrutturata e organizzata. La nostra stanza non era molto grande, ma il bagno era ampio e moderno. Ho dato tre stelle perché la pulizia della stanza non era delle migliori e molte cose erano un po’ precarie.

I will start by saying we try to avoid chain hotels and stay local. I do not understand the positive reviews for this hotel. This was the worst hotel of the 7 we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Portugal. It was musty, moldy, and dirty. The room smelled of sewage in the middle of the night. There was also black mold in the shower. The common areas also smelled musty. Dehumidifiers would be a great addition. There was also an annual parade for the students that prevented parking and caused most of the local restaurants to be close for the night. The parade never came up during any of our research. However the hotel emailed the morning of our check in suggesting that we wait until after 6 pm to arrive at the hotel because it was not accessible due to road closures and no parking anywhere in the city (it took until 9pm for the parking to clear out) Parking at the hotel was forbidden. The hotel waited until we could no longer cancel to inform us that it would take hours to find parking and we would be trapped in our room for the evening because trying to walk the streets with thousands of drunken students to find an open restaurant after the parking fiasco seemed like more than we wanted. This entire hotel experience felt like a bait and switch. Buyer beware what you see is, in fact, not what you get. Stay in a real hotel

Fabuloso. Las habitaciones son muy luminosas y amplias. El baño es muy cómodo. Y el hotel tiene unas vistas espectaculares. Muy económico y a 10 minutos del centro. Además hacía otra dirección cercana también, queda muy cerca el resto de cosas a visitar de la ciudad (jardín botánico, universidad..). Repetiría sin duda.

We loved loved the building and our room was great - had the best view and was so spacious especially after coming from Lisbon where our hotel room was tiny! Breakfast was great as well - all in was fantastic value for money. It is just a bit far to hike into the old town but ww had anticipated it would be a very active holiday so didn't ind the walk. Dining is definitely lacking around the area so we would suggest dining in town before getting back to hotel.

An under-rated gem. Comfortable, spacious and eclectic rooms. Friendly and efficient staff. Pleasant balcony for enjoying breakfast. Very convenient location.

Die Unterkunft hat anscheinend sehr unterschiedliche Zimmer. Unser Doppelzimmer lag im Keller und hatte keine richtigen Fenster, nur eine Art Oberlichter. Außerdem musste man zum Bad einige Stufen hochgehen. Frühstück war einfach.

The place was great. The one disadvantage was the bathroom private but across the hall.

The location is about 10-15 minutes walk to the university. It is a very slight hill going up, but not too bad. The room and bathroom are very spacious! Staff are friendly. Breakfast (10€/person) is good. Beautiful view from back balcony of the hotel.

Very friendly and good service. we got a separate apartment (separate from the main building). we had booked a room with 2 twin beds and a queen bed, but got queen bed with sofa bed (that spit and slept 2). this was not adequate for 2 adult kids, so manager gave us the 3rd floor room in the main bldg which was better. however, for 3/4 tall people there was not enough head room. otherwise, all was pleasant. breakfast pretty good. location excellent.

This historic building-turned-inn is terrific. It has been remodeled with all the modern conveniences while maintaining all of its old world charm. Suites are large with immensely high ceilings and huge bathrooms, common seating areas abound, the buffet breakfast is delicious, and it's within walking distance to the historic Coimbra university and botanical gardens. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Historical houses are the best to stay in any town! Love the house and the renovation are well done. Delicious breakfast and super friendly staff.

Notre séjour s'est super bien passé, la chambre était superbe avec un lit pour bébé mis à notre disposition et un buffet petit déjeuner très copieux. Mais nous avons oublié la boîte à musique de notre bébé que sa grand mère lui a offert. J'ai tenté de joindre l'hôtel par tout les moyens et aucune réponse de leur part. C'est un manque de respect qui me déçoit énormément.

The Luggage is a heritage building with tons of character. We were escorted in by Tony and quickly checked in and shown our room. It was awesome tons of windows, so clean and spacious BEAUTIFUL!! The staff were great, friendly and helpful. Breakfast great and bountiful. Very close to the university, so lots of young people around the area. restaurants close by or a quick Uber/Bolt away. Saturday night (only night) very loud music from 10-1:30 and we were not a fan of it but kids!!

Very friendly staff

Poor service (bare minimum). Poor maintenance (things are usable with some effort). Expensive for what you get. Anyway it's usable.

This was a beautiful old house, well maintained with high ceilings and wood floors. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Very walkable to the university and restaurants. The area was quiet and surrounded with beautiful old houses

They upgraded us to a room in the addition in the back. Luxury and quiet! Great breakfast!

Nous avons passé un fantastique séjour en famille dans cet hôtel. Le personnel est vraiment très serviable. La chambre était confortable et le système de chauffage très efficace. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et délicieux (les enfants avaient hâte de descendre pour manger tous les matins).

Room was perfect and location was walkable to town. It would have been nice to have a map of the town available. Coffee machine at breakfast was not so good.

Ein sehr schönes gemütliches Hotel. Das Haus hat viel Geschichte und ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war hervorragend. Von hier aus waren es nur ein paar Minuten ins Zentrum.
