What a beautiful bed and breakfast! The owner was warm, welcoming, gracious, and very accommodating. Our room and bathroom was large, very clean (the entire home was), and comfortable. There is a beautiful second floor deck to relax on. Breakfast was cooked to order by the owner and was delicious. The extra details; water,pop, snacks, special soaps/shampoos, extra towels, and a beautifully set table for breakfast made our stay even more special. We would return to Pierre just to stay at this property!

this is a true B and B the business suite is off site but has all the emmenities that you could ask for in a long term stay place . this has a full kitchen with stove ,oven , microwave , sink , dishes , full size fridge . The bathroom was a little tight , so if you are plus sized you might want to reconsider this room . it has a livingroom , with plenty of room for others to visit or stay . plenty of choices for coffee , clean little place with lots of character .

Wonderful stay - many thoughtful touches, warmly decorated, very kind staff. The only complaint I could have is that the traffic noise is loud if your room is on the front side of the house. However, there is a beautiful deck off the rooms on the front side of the house as well!

Ein B&B in einem wunderschönen Haus mit breiter Veranda vorne und hinten auf der man sitzen kann. Die Wohnräume und die Küche sind im Erdgeschoss. Die liebevoll eingerichteten 4 Zimmer mit guten Betten und sehr schöner Bettwäsche sind im ersten Stock. Jedes mit eigenem Badezimmer. Parkplätze sind ausreichend am Haus vorhanden. Frühstück ist inkludiert. Man musste sich am Vorabend aussuchen, was man haben möchte und konnte die Zeit zwischen 7 und 10 h bestimmen. Das klappte leider nicht. Zur bestellten Zeit war noch nichts zubereitet und bis das Frühstück dann endlich fertig war dauerte es insgesamt eine Stunde länger. Auch die anderen Gäste haben so lange warten müssen. Nicht gut, wenn man plant früh los zu kommen. Das Frühstück war aber reichlich und sogar mit frischem Obst.

Beautiful old home! Floors were squeaky, but it was an old home. Carpets on the floors really helped. We sat in a gazebo in the back yard and enjoyed a glass of wine, which we had brought with us, but they had a small bar where you could purchase soft drinks, wine or beer. Breakfast was really nice.

We reserved a king bedroom with a patio and had a very restful 2 night stay. The inn was charming, clean and quiet and having the nicely furnished patio to relax on was a great bonus. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast, western decor and warm hospitality.

We stayed one night at the Hitching Horse Inn on our way to the Black Hills. The room was great. The inn’s shared facilities made you feel right at home. Breakfast was ample and delicious. This inn exudes hospitality — a delightful alternative to a standard hotel.

This was a fun place to stay. Lovely room with balcony. Jetted tub. Deb was wonderful, and gave us great advice on where to eat, and cooked a super breakfast. I appreciated the neighborhood where I could walk in the evening. It is a beautiful place.

There was no one at the property when we arrived. After we called a number someone arrived about 15 minutes later and explained that the business model had been changed and it was no longer operating as advertised- they were no longer offering breakfast and to be fair we were offered a reduction in price When we were shown to our room it was very dark and dusty. The bathroom wasn’t much better- the grouting and seal around the bath and shower were horrible It seems to be operating as a longer term residential property. The other guests who were staying left discarded cigar butts on the ground outside the decking. We asked for our booking to be changed to one night only which was agreed to Very disappointing after reading all the positive reviews.

I enjoyed my stay! The staff was friendly and the place was very clean which greatly appreciated! The breakfast was amazing too! I was so surprised how quiet it was during the night! I would definitely stay again!

Hostess was exceptional. Great breakfast served to order in the morning. Each room had its own bathroom area. All were different. Some rooms had the balcony access. Anyone could use the porch. Everything was very clean.

Lovely area and very quiet. The room was very small but the bed was comfortable. The only drawback was the lack of water pressure in our room. Very difficult to get a shower. Breakfast was excellent

This is a must stay in Pierre if you are in town. A charming place run by an incredible person. We stayed in the business apartment which is like an AirBnB separate from the main house and it was cozy and comfortable. The highlight was the breakfast cooked by Deb - one of the best I ever had in any BnB I stayed in. We would be back whenever we can.

Really didn’t know what to expect. Great excellent hotels.com rating, google rating >4.5, but I’m not a BnB type. Decided to give it a try. Excellent all around. Only a slight knock on a noisy bed when you toss n turn through the night. That’s offset with the best breakfast we’ve had in the USA. Next potential equal is a European provided breakfast. Other hotel free breakfast is pig slop. Wis here more often.

Gracious and hospitable hosts. Expedia quoted incorrect cost but Deb simply honored Expedia’s incorrect price. She said Expedia has overbooked their inn in the past and that really is troublesome. After this experience I have doubts about using Expedia. We realy appreciated how Deb handled this. I think it’s a nice place to stay especially if you want to walk to the Capitol

very nice room and comfortable bed. Deb, the owner, was very friendly and helpful at check in and gave dinner suggestions and even gave lotion when I asked where I could buy some. Shower was very nice and breakfast was cooked to order in the morning. Would highly recommend.

Thought I'd have to talk bad about what really is an excellent place; I'm very thankful Deb made things right! Let me explain - I originally booked a room with a lower rate than the other ones available, but my credit card was charged a much higher amount when I checked in. The next day I called Expedia to see if my booking was priced inaccurately on their end, but nope! Turns out Deb inadvertently booked me a more expensive room amid the slew of reservations she was handling. Realizing this after checkout, she deeply apologized and then graciously refunded me the difference. By holding herself accountable, Deb renewed my belief that most people are inherently good and just doing their best! The rest of my experience was lovely (yummy breakfast, plenty of snacks, hot shower, great night's sleep, etc.). Largely thanks to Deb, I'd definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Pierre!

Didn’t actually stay the night as no one was available to check us in. A nice note was at the front desk saying they were close by and to call. Called and it went to voice mail but mail box was full. Waited awhile and left to find alternate lodging. Too bad, as it was too late for a refund.

Got to the property and there were no rooms available despite my reservation/confirmation. No staff were available on-site just a note with a phone number to call if there was a problem. Called the number. No answer and the voice mailbox was full. Horrible experience

I was able to walk to Pierre's historic capitol as well as to dinner spots. Also, I had the best night of sleep during a week of traveling!

Once again my stay at the Hitchin Post Inn was absolutely fabulous. If you are looking for a quiet, safe and comfortable place to relax this is the place. It's close enough to everything you may want to do in the Pierre, Ft. Pierre area but at the end if the day you can escape and relax. I look forward to returning again in the future.

Wonderful stay - many thoughtful touches, warmly decorated, very kind staff. The only complaint I could have is that the traffic noise is loud if your room is on the front side of the house. However, there is a beautiful deck off the rooms on the front side of the house as well!

We stayed for a figure skating competition. Area was quiet and safe. Owner was sweet. Property had great charm and felt warm and inviting. We didnt get to enjoy the awesome breakfast because of the competition but will so try it next time! Would book again! 10/10

Gracious and hospitable hosts. Expedia quoted incorrect cost but Deb simply honored Expedia’s incorrect price. She said Expedia has overbooked their inn in the past and that really is troublesome. After this experience I have doubts about using Expedia. We realy appreciated how Deb handled this. I think it’s a nice place to stay especially if you want to walk to the Capitol

Bit tricky to locate offsite room we reserved as we came into town after hours & at night unfamiliar to property set up. Great apartment, comfortable bed, updated nice decor, clean. Bathroom small/tight. Enjoyed the friendly, welcoming, accommodating staff & other guests.

We liked the accommodation at the Hitching Horse Inn as it was in a convenient location, very clean and tidy, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpfu; staff and very comfortable. We would like to stay here again when visiting Pierre SD.

This was a fun place to stay. Lovely room with balcony. Jetted tub. Deb was wonderful, and gave us great advice on where to eat, and cooked a super breakfast. I appreciated the neighborhood where I could walk in the evening. It is a beautiful place.

The Hitching Horse Inn was quaint and cozy. Everything was wonderful from the service to our delicious breakfast. They made you feel right at home with a self serve bar with wine and peer and a lovely porch to enjoy it on!

Ein B&B in einem wunderschönen Haus mit breiter Veranda vorne und hinten auf der man sitzen kann. Die Wohnräume und die Küche sind im Erdgeschoss. Die liebevoll eingerichteten 4 Zimmer mit guten Betten und sehr schöner Bettwäsche sind im ersten Stock. Jedes mit eigenem Badezimmer. Parkplätze sind ausreichend am Haus vorhanden. Frühstück ist inkludiert. Man musste sich am Vorabend aussuchen, was man haben möchte und konnte die Zeit zwischen 7 und 10 h bestimmen. Das klappte leider nicht. Zur bestellten Zeit war noch nichts zubereitet und bis das Frühstück dann endlich fertig war dauerte es insgesamt eine Stunde länger. Auch die anderen Gäste haben so lange warten müssen. Nicht gut, wenn man plant früh los zu kommen. Das Frühstück war aber reichlich und sogar mit frischem Obst.

Thought I'd have to talk bad about what really is an excellent place; I'm very thankful Deb made things right! Let me explain - I originally booked a room with a lower rate than the other ones available, but my credit card was charged a much higher amount when I checked in. The next day I called Expedia to see if my booking was priced inaccurately on their end, but nope! Turns out Deb inadvertently booked me a more expensive room amid the slew of reservations she was handling. Realizing this after checkout, she deeply apologized and then graciously refunded me the difference. By holding herself accountable, Deb renewed my belief that most people are inherently good and just doing their best! The rest of my experience was lovely (yummy breakfast, plenty of snacks, hot shower, great night's sleep, etc.). Largely thanks to Deb, I'd definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Pierre!

Best breakfast of this 2 months long trip we are taking. Lovely room, comfy bed, great jetted bathtub! Nice amenities! Will stay again if we are ever in Pierre again! lovely town! Had fun taking a nice walk in La Framboise Island. Also walked around the State Capital campus! Had a great dinner at the Cattleman's Club a bit out of town but so yummy!

Hostess was exceptional. Great breakfast served to order in the morning. Each room had its own bathroom area. All were different. Some rooms had the balcony access. Anyone could use the porch. Everything was very clean.

Cute apartment that has everything you could need & more. Beds were so comfy, even the rollaway, great linens. Seriously the best breakfast in town! Not a good choice for people with mobility issues as there are a lot of stairs.
