Tobermory Inn & Suites

Decent accommodation within walking distance to main harbour area. With plenty of free parking, which is good because it’s hard to find parking around harbour. They appear to be under renovation, but there wasn’t any noise or mess. (Places have to renovate eventually) and it didn’t interfere with our stay at all. The staff we saw were pleasant and welcoming. The room was modern and clean and we had everything we needed. Also balcony had a lovely view of the water. Reasonably priced.

No ice machine or coffee

Room was very clean, didn’t have to go the lobby to check in, but, if you are handicap this is not a place for you, 14 steps to go your room, I think they renovating for some rooms a street level

Room was clean. Felt safe. Convenient location by the water. I didn't realize when booking that it was a "self-serve" place. Was hard to get more toilet paper. Parking a bit confusing. If you miss the parking area you have to drive all the way around the block due to one way streets.

Tobermory is very expensive. You'll pay a lot for a very basic room - Tiny bathroom, no amenities. Walking distance to town but no access to waterfront at the hotel

Quiet neighborhood with a view overlooking the harbour. Older hotel with work being done to update the rooms and building.

They now have reception. It was clean and quiet, still renovating but overall a good option if you are in the area. Give them a try

Clean, quiet, and situated in a beautiful location just outside the built-up part of Tobermory. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Minimal amenities (no food), but economical. There is Wi-Fi access to the internet and TV, but it is rather spotty.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. We did not receive an email for the check in code but I sent them a text and I received the code 1hr before the 3pm check in time. All rooms are located in the 2nd floor and the first floor is still under renovation so dont expect too much in terms of property amenities etc. The property is in excellent location. Its in a quite location but only 2 blocks away from the main area. The beach is only a block away.

We needed a place to sleep before taking the ferry in the am. The staff was helpful with directions and parking info, although we never saw any staff members. Location is a little off the beaten path, but a 2 minute drive gets you to the docks and all the good stuff. The suite itself was 50/50. Our room had a balcony looking over to the docks which was neat. However, room had just a bar ledge, no table to place anything. The walls and ceilings had dirt / dead bug smears on them. The bath was ill-equipped with no hooks or racks to hang up towels or travel bags. My wife stopped counting after 7 spiders needed to be dispatched. It was a budget friendly option but next time I may spend to get come comfort.

Sheets and bedding were clean however spiders and cob webs could have been cleaned prior to our stay (inside and out). There was no storage and no hooks for towels with limited privacy on the deck. Also looked like the room door had been kicked in recently and so that should also be properly repaired.

The only reason I gave a low rating is because there were cobwebs in the restroom and bugs on the room ceiling.

They are renovating this property bit by bit. Everything was clean, but the bathtub needed soap scum remover. It was the only thing I found dirty. It could have splurged a little bit to make the kitchen counter 10 inches wider so you can actually put something on it and the bed was extremely uncomfortable sheets and bedding were clean. Just stayed for one night which was fine.

Very expensive for a 2* hotel. We had no hot water for our shower, there was someone else’s reading glasses on the floor beside the bed and a ton of garbage under the beds and the mattresses were very uncomfortable.

Great clean room! No tv and thin ceiling as we were kept awake by the people walking above us.

Very clean room, mattress and pillows are eeally comfortable. The View was good.

Very dirty bathroom. Bed sheets had hair and crumbs in them along with the bed frame.

The only issue we had was that there wasn’t a light in the main area. Unable to read, had to use the flashlight on my phone to use the microwave and electrical outlets. Also did not like the TV, no mainstream TV, unable to watch News or sports. Very disappointed to have missed the jays game.

The AC was so load it woke me up every time it started

Very clean. Great communication from staff ensuring a smooth check-in. But, if you are a light sleeper, beware. I could hear the people in the room above me walking around, and the snoring from a person in the room next to me.

The room was brand new so no problems with anything. Beautiful quiet location with water views. Lots of places to explore and of course the parks have trails for all ages to enjoy and even a pickleball court in town. The beds were really hard and after 4 nights I was pretty stiff.

The air conditioning is annoying.

The property was excellent, the view was awesome. The TV was totally confusing and there was no coffee in the room, but otherwise a great place to stay.

The upper rooms were freshly renovated, including the one we stayed in which was nice. There was no office, just a phone number to call to check in, and someone came with a key to the room area. The room door had a small lunch buttons handle lock, and no deadbolt. Not very secure. There was a poor seal on the door, with light coming in all around it. The patio door to the balcony had a nice view, but the curtains were not quite big enough to cover it without leaving a gap. The bathroom had an incredible strong smell of urine. There was a boil water advisory posted due to ongoing construction.

Staff on site went above and beyond for us. Nice clean fresh rooms, good restaurants within 10 min walk. Great view of the bay

I booked two rooms: one for my husband and me and another for my elderly father. His room turned out to have no heat at all—just a floor A/C unit. That first night he woke up at 3 a.m., shivering and fully dressed to keep warm. He barely slept and was exhausted for the day we had planned. This trip was meant to be a very special vacation for my father, something we had all been looking forward to for months. Instead, this experience left a bitter taste in his mouth and made us feel awful about how poorly his stay turned out. When I called the manager’s cell the next morning, she sounded sympathetic and assured me she would “make this right.” She eventually moved my dad to a room with heat and promised compensation for the ordeal. That was the last genuine effort we ever saw. After checkout I followed up repeatedly. Each time I was told the “reservations manager” was handling it. A week later: silence. No refund. No credit. No return messages. Just a wall of excuses and then nothing. A freezing room can be an honest mistake—but failing to deliver on promised compensation and ignoring multiple messages is unprofessional and unacceptable. The lack of basic accountability shows how little this property cares about its guests once they’ve been charged. I would strongly caution anyone considering Tobermory Inn & Suites: if something goes wrong, don’t expect them to stand behind their word.

The room itself was decent and clean, but there were several issues with the overall experience. To begin with, there is no front desk clerk. Instead there are lock boxes with the keys in them. Guests are supposed to receive an email with the code to their lock box, but I didn’t receive the email prior to arrival. It made for a disconcerting experience. The whole lockbox arrangement is buried in the hotel information posted online, and I would have chosen another hotel if I had read the instructions more closely. Secondly, the hotel is undergoing major renovation, and only a few rooms are open for business. It gives off a creepy vibe being in a big, older hotel with only a few other guests. Thirdly, the hotel is about 1 km from the Tobermory business district, which means having to drive and pay the parking fees there. Maybe in a year or two, the hotel will be fully renovated, with a properly staffed reception, but as things stand I wouldn’t stay there again, especially considering the price.

Reservations manager Carla has poor communication skills . Did not take accountability and infact blamed us -the customer. Horrible service on her part! Definitely needs courses on how to treat paying guest. We reserved and selected the OPTION to"pay at property" this infact was NOT an option. And NOONE was in the office. Erin the manager is very new but pleasant. She was approachable and responded within a reasonable time. The property was overall clean but had really bad spider webs all around

Check-in was quick, with excellent service. Erin was friendly nice to deal with if needed. Rooms and linens and bathrooms were very clean and everything was well kept & in good condition. Would definitely not think twice about staying here again!

We had to wait for the room keys more than 30 minutes. We arrived at 4:30. Room check in was at 3:00 pm. No staff on site, no answer to the phone call, or text. It took more than 30 minutes for someone to arrive with the keys. Although we communicated with the staff that we will arrive at 4:30. The key was not left in the locker as the staff member instructed. Room was clean and area beautiful.

Erin was fantastic host! She ensured my family was comfortable and enjoyed their stay. Very personalized customer service and experience- highly recommend it!

Great motel a short walk from the main bay. Room was clean and had all the amenities you might need when travelling. Will definitely book again.

What i like about the property is close to downtown ,but i don’t like the fact that they don’t leave any coffee ,tea and sugar for the guests.Not even water.The suite has no towel rack,no exhaust fan,tv is not working.Aside from that is ok.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Central location with a view of the bay. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. We had a small fridge and microwave in the room. The only thing missing was a tea/coffee maker. For the price a great place to stay.

No ice, no coffee maker in room, no coffee in office, tv was not good (very hard to work, no local channels for sports.) Beds and bedding was comfy, no local info available in office, Ugly shacks outside in front of our rooms, no access to the water, no food delivery, no close restaurants. Microwave was very old, lettering coming off, fridge worked well.

You may want to consider investing in coffee machines for the room and an ice machine

This hotel is very outdated. There is definitely no room service. There is no ice machine. Bathroom is a very small, and no ventilation. Hard to sleep at night because air conditioning is very loud. It is probably one of the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, definitely very disappointing, we wanted to go home on our first day.
