The beach at the lake is amazing. Very convenient stopover on the way from Algonquin to Ottawa.

Lovely spot but invaded by Canada Geese so lots of poop on the beach. Restaurant was sub par. Asked about early checkin and was told no the maids need their time— no Im sorry but—- when I commented the chicken wrap tasted off the manager said he trued it and it was fine. Lovely view though.

The location of the Sands on Golden Lake is very nice. The beach and entrance to the water is very sandy and the water is shallow for a long ways. It would be very nice for families with small children. However, the property is dated, not as elegant as it is portrayed, and completely overpriced for what it is. The service was not great, in that we arrived early and were essentially told to go away and come back for 3:00 p.m check in. No effort was made to even check whether our room might be ready such that an early check in was possible. Additionally, the restaurant, which was good, but also not as elegant as portrayed, did not open for breakfast. I would not return.

The view is breathtaking, the duck poop all over the beach and floating in the water less so, but I understand that the ducks float to this property because at this time of year, they’re not hunted

I'll start with the great; - very large remodelled rooms with fridge, coffee maker, small table & tub chairs, beds are comfy & rooms seem soundproof - wonderful beach & lake views from all rooms - great location, on the highway, lots of parking The not so great: - 1 ply TP (annoying & we use twice as much) - no microwave - Restaurant closed Mondays and only open 3 hours for supper other days, no breakfast hours - 1 server in dining room at supper, 7 tables occupied she had to tend bar. PLEASE, hire more staff, its not fair to your staff and certainly not fun for guests (some walked out) - great menu on-line (with salmon, pickerel, trout, steak, ribs etc), but that's not what was actually available, it was roadhouse / burger & chips fare. It was ok, but nothing to get excited about - the lawn could use mowing - not all rooms had lawnchairs, we had to go searching - the cigarette butt pails could use some sand (they were stinky) perhaps even new buckets - lots of cobwebs under the outside decks (above where we sat on the ground floor) & appear not to have been swept in quite awhile - they're in the process of freshening up the white paint outside (looks nice) but why paint the stair treads white? they're already dirty, they'll stay dirty, looks bad, use another colour In summary, would I stay here again? Probably, but I'd see what else was in the area first.

Or stay at the Sands was absolutely excellent every room has a view of the water the room was clean and was comfortable every room has a balcony so you can sit outside covered as well and Overlook the water very peaceful already planning our next stay

Stopped for one night. Definitely would not recommend. Dirty, not very friendly staff at the check in nice lady on duty in the morning. Breakfast was an experience, muffin, banana, coffee out of a dirty coffee pot and a limited choice of cereal out of 3 old beaten boxes, actually looked like the breakfast was put together from what they could find in the owners kitchen cupboards, this did give us a chuckle though as never seen anything like it. Biggest complaint is how dirty the place is. Clean bedding and towels but everything else was dirty, old and tired. Great view of the lake and nice (misleading) website.

I’m giving this place 5 stars mainly for the beautiful location and calm atmosphere. The room I got was a bit older and could use a few updates, but everything felt generally clean, no unpleasant smells, just a little dust here and there. What really makes Sands on Golden Lake special is the view, absolutely magnificent in the early morning, and at night the sky is filled with stars and even a glimpse of the Milky Way since it’s tucked away in the quiet countryside. It’s a beautiful spot for anyone who wants to relax, disconnect, and enjoy nature’s beauty.

All rooms face the lake so the view is great. Rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Room immaculate and spacious, though the external building surfaces need cleaninf and sweeping. The waiter with the vikings tattoos was very freidbly and helped my husbans fins gluten free food and beer

Das einzig gute ist die Lage am See. Ansonsten sehr unfreundlicher Service bzw. gar keine Servicepersonal greifbar. Trotz anderslautender Info war das Restaurant geschlossen, nächste Möglichkeit zu essen nur mit dem Auto erreichbar. Unterkunft war sehr sehr verwohnt bis hin zu unsauber. Schade um die schöne Lage!

Lovely room, very clean, owner was so very accommodating about a late check in; however there was no shampoo or soap or any toiletries. Similar situation at breakfast, I had to ask for butter for my toast, same for the jam and a napkin. Not sure why the stinginess with what most hotels provide automatically.

We arrived after sunset and left around s foggy dawn, so we didn't get to see much of the lake view. But the room was very nice; wedstay there again. Our only disappointment was that breakfast wasn't available until 8, and we needed to be on the road before then.

Excellent!!!!! Large room, very comfortable beds and the beach was right outside our door. The restaurant offered great food at a great price.

A cute hotel on Golden Lake with views from the room. Low pressure on the washroom taps and seemingly not a lot of hot water for a shower Exhaust fan in room needed some cleaning.

A lovely location overlooking Golden Lake, but the motel rooms are pretty dated, sparsely decorated, and quite humid with a slightly moody odour in our basement room!

We arrived late but our room had been set up, and someone came back into the office to welcome us. The room is comfortable and clean, but the real stunner is the view. You can sit outside your door and have an uninterrupted panoramic view of a big lake, which is spectacular at sunset and when the stars come out. Can’t wait to come back.

Zach was very helpful at check in and extremely personable in the dining room. This place is a hidden gem. Sweet rooms all with wonderful lake views. I’ll be back.

We request for late check out because regular check out it's at 11:00 am, we were told that won't be possible due to the room has been already reserved which was not true l, we drove a couple of times in front of the hotel and there were no one. Check out at 11:00 am it's ridiculous, so early, not enough time to relax and get ready.

Great view, but very inconvenient. Amenities are just shampoo and soap. No teas Staff didn’t stay at the property, had to make a phone call to reach, even no answer. They said there‘s a grab and go breakfast, but no staff showed up with breakfast at the office until 8 a.m.which was locked up over night. Won’t come back to this hotel again,

Zack and team were awesome to us. Wonderful place that we’ll for sure come back. Ideal place to take a few days off. Unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the spa, but we’ll do that next time; we’ll make sure to book it in advance

the registration desk was not a pleasant experience. The restaurant was good, there was only one waitress and she was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. We thought we would be able to have breakfast but were informed by the waitress the night before that the restaurant didn't open until 11 am. and that there would be a bagged breakfast, but when we went to the lobby there was nothing there but coffee, one apple, two granola bars and one yogurt. It was a bit of a joke, we found out where the nearest restaurant was and had breakfast there

Beautiful setting on lake with beach front options. Unfortunately the room we had booked was not cleaned so we unknowingly walked into dirty room with unmade bed, so kinda started off our stay on a sour note. Hoping to turn it around, we were told the manager was coming to talk to us. We waited and when he arrived- never introduced himself, kinda said sorry but always away from us never making eye contact, keep insisting he was upgrading us even though we didn't need 2 beds and were in an older room. Was not trying to welcome us or truely apologize just wanted to rush in, fix the problem and leave. Even made a comment to us about a glass of wine his friendly staff offered us as we were waiting. Like he had already gone above beyond with a $10 glass of wine. I know everyone is hard on money these expensive days but a little eye contact and making your guests feel welcomed goes a LONG way. The rest of the staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed the wonderful views. Could be a VERY sought out place to stay with some improvements.

For passing through hotel beautiful view on the lake. But because of low season almost all dining possibilities within 30km closed when we checked in at 6.30 pm

Sorry but the breakfast arrangement was a let down.

Excellent place to just rest and relax. The beach is nice and sandy and water was very warm. It was quiet and the restaurant had good options. It is not a fancy place but excellent for a relaxing trip.

The best thing about this place is the outstanding views across the lake. Simple, rustic fare on the menu but you have to order before about 7pm. Nothing open after 8 so if you want to drink bring your own. Large bedroom was very clean despite the whole place feeling a bit tired. Light breakfast and coffee to set you on your way.
