The owner was rude and tried to overcharge me to start. I said I booked on Expedia and it was $99 and she replied with ‘yes well that’s Expedia’ and I said well that’s who I booked with. So off we went to the room and were disgusted. It had 3 beds, and two huge windows, one that was boarded up. There was a portable air conditioner set up and it was not the room I booked. I should have taken pics but I wasn’t there long enough I went back down stairs and said that I wasn’t the room I booked, it had 3 single beds and one double bed. She said that was a family room and I told her that was what I booked. There was an old guy sitting at the bar that decided to chime in that I wasn’t at the Ritz, and as I told him I was well aware of that but I knew what if booked. He told me that I can’t expect much for the price I payed! Anyway I went back up to the new room and it was marginally better, it had an aircon and the room was cool. The old guy was downstairs when I went to get some ice and he reminded me that I saved money by staying there and I told him I could get rooms in the city for the same that are in good condition. He then told me at least I got to stay in an iconic hotel, no consolation thanks. The carpet was filthy throughout the hotel, the stairs, the hallways and the rooms. It was quite disgusting. There was supposed to be a continental breakfast supplied. But there was no milk for the cereal and there was no bread for the toast. It was so disappointing.

Cheap and cheerful in Culcairn! Not too far from highway; this is a country pub with a hotel upstairs with shared bathrooms. In need of a facelift. So know what you're getting before booking - it suited our purposes for one night, and ate at restaurant downstairs.
