If you're doing day trips from Tokyo, staying in Shinjuku area is very convenient. That was the reason I chose to stay here and found APA nightly rate was quite reasonable. Its location is right next to newly built Kabukicho tower and the hotel itself looks quite new as well, although it's not exactly super close to Shinjuku train station. Room and bathroom are clean, as well as the hotel overall. Staff were very friendly as most like Japanese people are. It is in the area that never sleeps but I didn't hear much noises inside the room. The only thing I wish is that the bedroom is a little bigger. I was traveling with a large luggage this time and it was hard to lie it flat when both sides are open. One thing that I also felt weird is the location of the coin laundry inside the male onsen area. So when I was trying to figure out how to operate the laundry machine, I could see from the corner of my eye some guys were just totally naked and walked around me. Should have put the machines outside.

Unfortunately the cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. Upon checking in, we discovered long dark hairs in the bathroom (we are both blonde), the carpet (particularly side nearest the window) had a lot of dirt, fluff and crumbs and the icing on the cake was the baby cockroach on the carpet, the morning that we left. We were advised the day before that electrics would be off between midday to 2pm on Weds 7th however this seemed to drag on until later, we went out early as we knew we wouldn’t be able to use room facilities but when we came back there were huge queues for the lifts (which was a regular occurrence particularly as one was out of order the whole time we were there). No compensation offered - in fact on the letter advising about electrics being off it said that you would still have to check out at 10am (much earlier check out than anywhere else we have stayed!). Completely unacceptable - would not recommend especially at the price point we paid.

발냄새에 질식해 죽을뻔 했어요 카펫에 발냄새가 베겨서 누우면 발냄새가 계속 올라오는데 진짜 역겨워요 거짓말 안치고 자려다 헛구역질했어요 냄새가 너무 안빠지는데 창문도 못열고 룸스프레이를 백번을 뿌렸는데 카펫에 역한 발냄새가 안사라져서 알콜스프레이뿌렸는데도 그때 뿐이라 수건들로 카펫 덮고 겨우 잤어요 10년 넘은 헬스장에 탈의장 뒷편에 쳐박힌 양말 냄새가 나요 카펫 청소 좀 하세요....

My wife said she found a curvy hair which doesn't belong to us on her bed. Then I found another one on mine. We were too quick to sweep the hair out of the beds before taking photos. Then I asked the front desk to get a new set of bed sheet for her. I didn't ask for myself. Obviously the staff didn't change bed sheet. After changing her bed sheet, you can tell the difference of a bed sheet never used and used. I am not that kind of picky person, but this experience was absolutely terrible. I think I should have partial money back.

The room was dirty when we got there, dust and weird stains on the carpet, the toilet also was dirty, staff we just spoke to them once when we checked in, the room we got we were not able to open the window, i know it’s for safety reason but sometimes felt weird because there was no air circulation in such small room

Good location if you want to be in the middle of it all. The rooms were just very small but most Tokyo rooms are. The bathrooms were incredibly small. I don’t know how more than 1 person could function in these rooms.

Clean room, 10 am check out is just terrible. I do not know of ANY other chain that does this. Then they charge ¥2000 per hour to extend to a later checkout which would be included in any other hotel. Would not stay here again because I do not like being nickel and dimed. Smallest hotel room I’ve ever had in Japan and bed was saggy/uncomfortable. Eco friendly hotel and laundry facilities which was great. Japanese public bath was a nice touch.

The room was extremely hot. The air conditioning would not cool the room at all and only made it warmer. The windows were locked and could not be opened. When I asked the front desk for a fan, I was told to open the room door and leave it open for a while. That is not a realistic solution. Sleeping with the door open is not acceptable.

Rooms were typically small but functional. Virtually no room for my large luggage and the bathroom was small. Room was just very tight, but it is adequate for one person. It would be hard to fit two people comfortably in the room.

Hotel was very clean. Bed comfy. Breakfast was excellent Staff friendly. Good location. Only downside was wifi kept dropping out every 30 to 60mins. Had to ring reception for them to reset the router, not ideal. Still only 1 English tv channel, BBC news 24. In this day and age of streaming tv, more channel choice should be a no brainer

Not a fan of the service at this hotel. Check in experience was poor and guests are not offered assistance to check-in at a machine despite 3 employees standing behind a counter. Likewise, I had one night in between my two reservations and the hotel refused to keep my bag until the next day which is never a problem at another property I frequently use in Shinjuku, Do better APA!

Hello! Please not that I booked a double bed ( 2 beds) only got one full size bed. The front desk didn’t try to accommodate me. The last night of our stay I made a cup of coffee and it was very hot so I let it cool, well it was still hot and the cup folded inward and I burnt my hand, The paper cups are cheap and when hot very soft and flimsy! I have 2nd degree burns with blisters and the hotel Mgr refused to provide me with ibuprofen and wouldn’t buy me Aloe Vera gel or vitamin E oil. The hotel didn’t even have a first aid kit on hand for their guests. Indont care what country you visit the Hotels should at least have a Fisrt Aid Kit on hand! I even let the Hotel staff take photos of my hand. This was a horrible accident but worse experience I have ever had with a Hotel that carries a good reputation in Japan! Veronica Marroquin Fichter

This is my 5th or 6th stay at this APA. I usually stay here for the location - a quick walk to Shinjuku Station; the price is good, the special APA brand pillows are so comfortable, and the guest bathhouse on the top floor is great for a soak. I would lean towards 4-5 stars normally but this time there was a front desk person who was so awful, even though the rest of the team was great, she was incredibly impersonal, and just stood there at every step of the check in process and did nothing (one guest arrived at the wrong hotel - she pointed him outside with no explanation, my luggage toppled over and when I was struggling with it, she pointed to a valet cart and told me to use it and bring it back) meanwhile, the other receptionists were really helpful to tired guests. So, unusual to rate this stay only 3 stars but some quality control of front desk staff would be great.

Room was clean and well stocked. The location of the hotel let a lot to be desired. Located near lots of restaurants and nightlife. Because of the nightlife sand location directly across from a local attraction the noise leve was difficult. Thankfully earplugs were provided at check-in they were very much needed.

It is conveniently located near shinjuku was lots of late night activity. In the morning people passed out on the ground in front of the hotel and lots of trash. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Main issue is the elevators. Only 3 of 4 worked and spent a lot of time waiting for them to get to the floors and also sometimes a line in the lobby. If you want to be in the heart of shinjuku it is perfect

Hotel was right in the middle of Kabukicho, right outside the tower. The airport bus drops right across from the property and you are next to a lot of restaurants, stores and golden gai. The train stations are only about a 5-10 minute walk away depending which station you are trying to get to but overall is a great place to stay. The rooms were clean and they offer room cleanings daily along with fresh towels and toiletries that they leave outside your door every morning. Perfect room for couples or solo travelers.

The staff were wonderful and the hotel itself is clean, though quite compact. Transparency about our rating and the Kabukicho area is that there are a lot of young, restless locals hanging around. Being such a hot tourist destination and local bar/party scene, Kabukicho is less clean than other areas of Tokyo and sometimes loud or rowdy. That said: we never once felt unsafe or unwelcome. It’s just a different vibe.

I stayed 8 days in May while on vacation. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The location was excellent and this very busy part of Tokyo. The front desk were cheerful and eager to help although not all were good at English. Pretty much all the info you may need is provided on the info TV, including how to use the phone to make a local or if the hotel had items to lend such as nail clippers or an umbrella, one of which I did get to use. The breakfast buffet was good and I believe most people at the hotel would choose that especially when you would get a lower rate paying before hand. I extended my stay three days and did not choose the breakfast and then found it difficult to find a breakfast outside open at 8am. I used the Spa and it was very good. And the water to soak in was quite hot so I only stayed 15min. The room was small by western standards but did have all the items that you were need, even a kettle for coffee or tea that was also provided.

Hotel was noce and clean but the rooms are too small. I was with my 11 year old son and we struggled to move. Also breakfast which we paid for 7 nights didnt cater for western children which other hotels we stayed in japan did. Also a little noisy over the weekend to which they gave us ear buds for outside noise.also had to book a room for extra night as theres no toilets or facilities to change after being in heat all day.

Comme toujours lorsque je viens au Japon je réserve APA hôtel. Celui de Shinjuku Kabukicho particulièrement. Service irréprochable. Le staff est charmant. Chambre fonctionnelle, propre. Very clean hotel with lots of amenities in the room such as a brush, toothbrush and toothpaste and daily change of a razor. My only criticism would be the breakfast. For a western customer, the lack of baked beans, fried egg, toast and bacon might come as a surprise and a bit of a disappointment. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite low key but pretty much has everything you could need in a central hotel location. Be warned though, like a lot of downtown Tokyo hotels, the room is very very small.
