Breakfast was good. Bar well assorted even if seats were a bit scarce. Personel very helpful. Negative that the fireplaces let smoke come into the building instead of ventilating it out through chimney.

Parking on the street was tricky. Very busy at the restaurant at hotel which made for congested parking, but the room with balcony over the garden area was peaceful. The town was walkable, especially the viaduct path, and everyone was so friendly!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Step House Hotel. Lots of free parking outside the very attractive hotel frontage. As it was Christmas time, the hotel lobby was very festive which was lovely and added in was the open fireplace burning to give added warmth and ambience . Check-in was quick and the room easy to find. The room was huge with a big sash window and french doors which opened to a balcony and stunning views of the Leinster hills. Watching the sunrise- even in December- up over the hills was fantastic. The room was slightly tired and sparse- a nice chair or small sofa to sit and look out at the view would have been great. There was tea and coffee making facilities along with bottles of water and a couple of biscuits. The bathroom was well-equidded with a separate bath and wonderful shower. The TV didn’t work properly and one side of the bed didn’t have any plug sockets which was irritating. The bed was huge and comfy. Breakfast was in a lovely space and very good. The continental buffet was small but still had more than enough and more importantly- everything tasted good. Their were a few hot items to choose from but we both had the full Irish breakfast which was delicious and came with toast. A big pot of tea and large cup of cappuccino went down well with us. The area around the hotel is very quaint and a walk along the viaduct is recommended. The Step House Hotel has the potential to an even better hotel than it is if the rooms get freshened up a bit.
