The hotel was clean, the fitness center had what I needed, the restaurant was good and I had a really nice experience.

Great location! The gym was great if you like to get your workout in even while on a trip. Staff was nice! Overall enjoyed my stay.

I really enjoyed this hotel! It was clean and the staff was exceptionally nice. The valet parking is expensive ($75) but parking is close to the hotel. There is in and out of parking at 777 S. State ($39) but you need the QR code from the hotel.

Room was quiet, clean, and had a well lit bathroom with nice toiletries. Staff were very friendly. Workout room was nice and equipped with towels. I would stay here again.

I had stayed here 30 years ago and the difference was a complete 180. Location is excellent. 3 blocks to the Red Alley be or Orange line. Plenty of food options, try the 11 City Diner. Can easily walk to the Shedd. Room was decent size for a large city hotel but the bathroom was nice a big and loved the tub.Gym was well equipped and everything worked. Free water at the desk was niceThe only complaint would be the bed was 6" away from the wall on my side of the bed and it was a bit difficult to maneuver. We would stay again.

A great hotel pretty convenient for us. Disappointing house keeping, we had 2 rooms on 2 different floors. In one room they refreshed the room every day, however in the other even when I had requested fresh towels from staff they didn’t provide them. Only when I expressed my disappointment at the front desk did they inform me I needed to request housekeeping at the front desk each morning if needed. Seems very strange!!! Otherwise good experience with all staff interactions

Our stay was great. The rooms are good. Except that the housekeeping did not refill the supplies and replace the cups everyday.

We found a roach in the shower 5 minutes into the trip. It was small with no signs of infestation. Valet was expensive but the service was nice. The view from the room was beautiful which is why we stayed. The building is super old they should do better remodel especially for the plumbing.

The bathroom wasn’t clean and hair was on the floor and in the shower. I spoke with a lady at the front desk and told her.

The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was wonderful and I loved being across from the park where you could easily go for a walk to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather and get some exercise in a safe location. I would stay here again.

Rooms are decent size and modern. The location is fantastic and close to all the attractions and public transport. The housekeeping is not regular and our room did not get cleaned while we were there for 3 nights in spite of asking the cleaning staff and the front desk. Overall experience is frustrating when you see a dirty room returning from day long outing.

Perfect location and the hotel was clean and nice.

The room was nice but you can tell it wasn’t cleaned properly. There was dirt on the ground in the corners bathroom. Remotes should have covers and changed or available to customers.

Nice hotel. Pretty. They had other options in lieu the very expensive valet parking. Staff was nice and helpful. Room was updated and clean.

Property was very clean and modern. The room was perfect and up to date. Large flat screen TV, walk in shower with a beautiful blue tile splash. The location was perfect and i found a safe and secure parking garage tgsr i paid $100 for four days.

It was in a great location with lots of food and activities close by. The rooms are a bit small, but expected. They were clean and the staff was friendly and professional.

The hotel is beautiful and nice. Completely quiet other than the cars driving by. Now I booked a city view but the room I had was a park view. When I checked in no one really smiled at me, I did not feel welcome. The conditioner in the shower was empty, I had to buy some.

The staff in the bar/restaurant at the Essex was not very friendly or attentive to the customers. Guest rooms are quite small.

We picked a city view and this did not disappoint! We were on the 10 floor looking out to the lake . The team of people from the door person , front desk team and restaurant were very helpful. Would definitely choose this hotel again .

We stayed here because it was so close to Soldier Field where we were seeing a concert. It's also in easy walking distance to many museums, restaurants and shopping. We had great service from all of the staff and the room was comfortable. Our only complaint was that we paid a little extra for a "city view" but our room was on the 3rd floor and all we could see was the hotel across 8th street.

The staff and room were excellent. However, the windows in the room were poor. The outside noise sounded like the windows were wide open. I understand it's a city but teens doing burnouts and racing up and down the streets on dirt bikes all night long is not what I paid for. No need for a radio because ever car going by the song was broadcasted right into the room

Stayed one night for the BlackPink concert at Solider Field. Love this hotel. Not only the location to the concert venue but the stay was amazing. From the time I drove up to check in, the valet guy was helpful in getting me a cart and telling me not to worry about leaving my car parked up front as I check in. The front desk folks were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The room was clean and fresh. Fantastic shower. Great view of the lake (lucky me!) Check out was a breeze. Friendly front desk (Kiera) and I even had my car waiting up front. Chicago might be a big city but the LeMeridien made it feel small and family like! Thanks for the welcoming stay.

Would give this a zero if I could. I booked a room about 8 months ago. Day before check-in I was able to check in online. Email I received stated I would receive notification when my room was ready. Nothing was received. Made the 2.5 hour drive down for a concert to make check-in at 4pm. Still no room, but they would let me know when it was available. There was a full lobby and long line of pretty unhappy people that their rooms weren't available as well. I didn't want to miss the concert, so I asked if we could check in after the concert and the check in desk said that would be fine and our room would be ready by then. End of concert came and again, no notifications and a full lobby and long line of angry people. Only one desk clerk working. As we were standing in line for quite some time without progress, we began asking questions about what was going on. People standing in line said the hotel was overbooked even though people had paid for their rooms in advance. Nothing was being communicated to the line that had now reached to the door. Later we found out even if you paid and booked well in advance you were only getting a room if you were a member of BonVoy. A member I was not. Had to drive home in a parking lot otherwise known as the interstate due to the concert and construction. If we had known upfront this had happen I'd be less angry, but the wasted time in line with no information from the desk clerk is infuriating. I didn't get home until 3am. Place needs help

This property is conveniently located in downtown and deserves the three stars in terms of amenities. Their biggest issue is quality and reliable service. The staff are either not well trained or just don't have the service attitude. The lady at the front desk during check-in had us standing in front of her for a long time, while she repeatedly tried to check us in. All it takes is to let the customer know what is happening and apologize for any inconvenience. The director of engineering finally walked in and completed the transaction. The instructions provided for parking QR code for in and out privileges were incorrect and I found myself stuck behind the toll gate for long times, calling parking assistance. Finally, they told me that there are no in and out previeges for this booking. All they needed to do was provide correct information and I asked them twice. The bed was uncomfortable and the elevator close to our room squeaked. Even though we were on the 10th floor, on Fri late night it was so noisy that we had a hard time sleeping. On the positive, the restaurant is decent and the food was good. Though the server and restaurant manager also had no service etiquette. I have stayed here before and gave it a chance because of my Bonvoy status/convenient location. Now my wife had told me, she is not coming back to this location.

The entire stay was excellent but what set Le Meridien Essex apart was the staff. The housekeeping, bell and front desk teams were wonderful. They were super accommodating and friendly. I can't express enough how grateful we were to their responsiveness when we left behind an item after check-out.

Amazing service, great on site eatery and super convenient location. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The best part is that they allowed us to check in early after an early morning of traveling. That was a great start to our vacation!

It was a very nice hotel. I was satisfied with my room choice. I address my dissatisfaction with my room witn the front desk reception but nothing was resolved. So I just kept the room I had. Now my friend loved her room and she advocated for me about having my room changed but nothing was changed or resolved.

Rude inhospitable front desk employees. With so many options in Chicago don’t stay here, look elsewhere.

Great location right on Michigan Ave and nice view from our window. Easy walks to allot of attractions and restaurants. Definitely would stay there again.

The location is great for access to the lakefront, shops on Michigan Ave. and the most beautiful parks in any American city.

Fabulous one night stay at the hotel. Fabulous location to walking everywhere close (Grant Park, Shedd, Field Museum), and taking public transportation to everything else. Comfortable room stylishly decorated; splurge for the view!!

Conveniently located near the Museums and close walk to many good restaurant options. Hotel itself was clean and had comfortable beds and pillows. Restaurant in lobby was very good and staff everywhere was friendly.

Small disappointments added up: Two people, one robe. No more available in the hotel. Asked to have additional towels sent up and we had to go down and get them from the front desk because they don’t have anyone available to bring them up to you. Not great when you’ve already undressed for the evening. Had pumps of body wash and shampoo, the conditioner pump was empty. Perhaps have housekeeping check it when prepping the room. Room service is available, BUT you have to go down to the restaurant to pick it up, or wait 40 minutes for someone to become available to deliver and have $12.50 added to the bill. Again, not great having to go down and pick it up when you’re already undressed for the evening. It seems as though they’re trying to be a top hotel, posting pretty pictures on their website, but there is much to be desired.

Very nice location, clean, comfortable. A bit inconvenient that restaurant/bar closes at 9pm.

**Meridian Essex Review** My stay at the Meridian Essex was mostly positive. The staff were professional and welcoming, making the check-in process smooth and pleasant. The room quality was impressive—clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, providing a great environment for relaxation. However, the dining and bar options could use improvement. The menu was limited, and the quality of food and drinks didn't quite match the high standards set by the rest of the hotel. Additionally, the bar closes too early and the staff seemed eager for guests to leave, which detracted from the overall experience. Overall, while the Meridian Essex excels in staff service and room quality, there's room for growth in their dining and bar offerings.

The restaurant had amazing food and drinks. The waiter was a little mean at first but he eventually warmed up. I’ll be back.

I liked the location, being in proximity to the museums and McCormick Center. The fitness center is also nice. The interactions with staff disappointing. - Upon checking in, one of the receptionists shared that if we weren't using the in-hotel meal discount that evening, guests could come down the next morning and get a new one for breakfast. We did that. A new receptionist told us we shouldn't do that. We felt blamed for simply doing what another staff member told us to do. - Another receptionist had one ear bud in while interacting with guests. I asked for a basic hygiene supply, and they weren't able to supply it. It seemed like they were a bit distracted. - The breakfast itself was disappointing. A $17 scramble was just eggs with salsa on top. I think I will try the Hilton across the street the next time we are here.

While the staff in the lobby was without exception, accommodating and professional, the cleaners had loud conversations in the hallway every morning on my floor and played loud music. I dined at the hotel restaurant three times for brunch but all three times ended up sending my plates back because the steak was over cooked to the point of being inedible

the staff is not very friendly and they try to always put you in an accessible room if you book with Expedia. the bar is the worst! the bartender literally had no idea how to make a martini and yet they charge $17 or more for one- the food at the hotel bar and restaurant is even worse- they give you a ten dollar credit but it's really not worth it

Overall, our stay was great. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and cozy. The only thing I would not recommend is the restaurant, the food was very average for the price.
