Location was good. Room was very small. Elevators very busy in the morning but you will get in after a few tries. Space in lobby limited as guest's bags can take a lot of space in the morning after check out. Breakfast is value for money but space is limited and often so out if you are not quick enough to buy a coupon. Staff service is excellent.

This was, by far, the worst hotel I stayed at in Japan. I read online there was an automated check-in machine - cool! Nothing at the front desk is labeled, so I go to the machine nearest to the door, which says to scan your QR code. Since I booked through Expedia, I thought maybe only those who booked directly with the hotel got a QR code to check in or something. I told the front desk staff I didn’t have a QR code… and apparently this made him think I was a complete idiot. Rather than just direct me to the correct machine, he proceeded to smugly tell me what to do on every screen and every button to press, despite it being in English. With an increasingly annoyed tone, I kept saying “okay!” hoping he would get the hint and just let me do my thing… finally, I said “I can actually follow this, thanks” - and that STILL didn’t stop him. I understand that as a hotel in a tourist area you must get a lot of dumb tourists, but treating everyone you come across as one isn’t doing you any favors. And then I actually got to my room… turns out, this hotel was lying on Expedia when they said every room enjoyed a city view - my window had about a 5 foot gap to the building next door. Wallpaper in the room was peeling & the air unit had gross dust residue on the ceiling. The facilities are basically non-existent - they don’t even have coin laundry. The only upside to this hotel is that if you’re going to the airport, the platform for the Skyliner is basically next door.

The only upside to this hotel is that if you’re going to the airport, the platform for the Skyliner is basically next door.

Was a nice comfortable hotel, room was small, but as expected. TV in room was very nice, able to use all my smart apps on it like Netflix. Things I didn't like: - only 2 elevators for whole hotel, stairs are only for emergency use, can take a few tries with bags to get on an elevator so be sure to plan for that. - breakfast buffet wasn’t for me, while they list it as being a mix of both asian and western dishes, most items were for the asian palate, and the restaurant is very small, so it fills up quickly, needed up only eating there once, and skipping the rest of my vouchers.

Very tiny room (too tiny)! Lobby is too small to hold all the early checkin luggage, makes the lobby very chaotic. Very slow elevator. No self service laundry available. Our sink was leaking. Very good location if you need to catch early flight to NRT, we had an early flight and had no issue catching the first sky-liner!

The lifts were a nightmare, staff on reception wouldn’t helped. Took an hour to get onto a lift. We had a baby. Really disappointing service. No control over the luggage that was left in lobby. Rooms very small.

The was my 3rd stay at this hotel during my trip in Japan. The room had dust on the desk, head board of the bed, on the wall and lamp in the bathroom. There were mosquitos in the room. I killed one and showed it to a front desk staff. He said sorry and did not do anything. He basically said this is the season and it does happen. Dust in the room for 3 days.

Would not recommend this hotel. Of the four hotels I stayed in, in Japan, this one was the smallest and the worst. The hallway is actually open to the outside so it is dark, hot and humid. The room was not clean, spots on the wall, and the bathroom is extremely tiny.

The room was overheated (86F). We were told to open a window. The carpet had slivers of wood and nail clippings. The glass and mirror surfaces were smudged. The breakfast area was a whole other level of subpar. The (male) staff treated every request as an imposition. The setup was ramshackle with folding tables holding heating pots of miso and rice. The staff stayed in the kitchen as much as possible, resulting in sticky tables and trays, and unreplenished dishes on the buffet. The food itself was not of the quality we have come to expect from APA hotels. These issues may seem minor, but taken together, they make for an unpleasant experience. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Musty washrooms, dirty floors, dirty windows. Nasty stuff behind the toilet cover (dust and hair), so we just kept it up at all times. I don’t recommend the location either. Very noisy at night and busy at all times. Constant flow of tourists makes the lobby practically impassable. The staff was very kind and helpful, despite being clearly overwhelmed.

The corridors, elevator and reception area were not clean. Our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke. The bedroom looked much bigger in the photos but it was very very small. The bathroom and bedroom were not cleaned properly.

I won’t be coming back to Apa Hotels. This was my first time and this chain isn’t for me. This was the most expensive hotel we have stayed at during our trip and it was significantly worse than others. The room was extremely tiny, there was no space to open a suitcase. You can’t control the temperature in your room - the hotel was set to heating and you could only heat up the already hot room. I was told to open the window and turn the AC off if we are hot… every other hotel we stayed at allowed you to adjust the temperature in the room. We were only in the room overnight as we spent most of the time outside but we it was still uncomfortable as we could barely walk around it. There wasn’t really space to get ready. These hotels may work for some but they aren’t for me, you can get a much better standard for lower price elsewhere.

I know it is Tokyo, but the rooms were super small. They definitely let you know that when you book because they tell you exactly how many square feet there is in the room. 119sf just isn’t enough for my husband and I. I’m surprised we’re still married! They do have larger rooms and they have rooms that overlook the park instead of the ones we booked, which looked out at somebody’s wall. I would recommend booking a higher class of room. The double is really a single.The location is great because you can get right there from the keisei Skyliner from the airport. You just walk across the street and there you are great location but a big heartless hotel.

The room that I was being assigned is ridiculously small. Literally my wife and I cannot move inside the room properly. I understand on average the hotel room size in Japan is small, but this one is ultra small. It should be designed for single bed only.

Great location. Walkable to Ameyoko and other areas. There are many restaurants and stores nearby. We had a lake view room on the 15th floor and the view was great!! We enjoyed our stay.

The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. I had to transport my luggage to my next hotel, along with receive rental equipment from a rental service. The hotel staff helped me manage all of it without trouble. The rooms were clean and the cleaning staff supplied me with clean towels daily. My only complaint was that the pillows are not very comfortable. Overall, an enjoyable stay and I will recommend the area to friends looking to visit Tokyo.

This was, by far, the worst hotel I stayed at in Japan. I read online there was an automated check-in machine - cool! Nothing at the front desk is labeled, so I go to the machine nearest to the door, which says to scan your QR code. Since I booked through Expedia, I thought maybe only those who booked directly with the hotel got a QR code to check in or something. I told the front desk staff I didn’t have a QR code… and apparently this made him think I was a complete idiot. Rather than just direct me to the correct machine, he proceeded to smugly tell me what to do on every screen and every button to press, despite it being in English. With an increasingly annoyed tone, I kept saying “okay!” hoping he would get the hint and just let me do my thing… finally, I said “I can actually follow this, thanks” - and that STILL didn’t stop him. I understand that as a hotel in a tourist area you must get a lot of dumb tourists, but treating everyone you come across as one isn’t doing you any favors. And then I actually got to my room… turns out, this hotel was lying on Expedia when they said every room enjoyed a city view - my window had about a 5 foot gap to the building next door. Wallpaper in the room was peeling & the air unit had gross dust residue on the ceiling. The facilities are basically non-existent - they don’t even have coin laundry. The only upside to this hotel is that if you’re going to the airport, the platform for the Skyliner is basically next door.

Staff were very accommodating with storing luggage after checkout and prior to us departing for the airport so that we could wander around Ueno Park which is located next to the hotel. Also helpful in arranging luggage forwarding service.

Convenient location. Had a pleasant stay but didnt expect much customers service from hotel as it is a super busy hotel. Lobby is small but always filled with luggages, very little room for guests to wait for service. As expected, room is small. Overall, we think we paid for what we get.

The lifts were a nightmare, staff on reception wouldn’t helped. Took an hour to get onto a lift. We had a baby. Really disappointing service. No control over the luggage that was left in lobby. Rooms very small.

We left our luggage in the morning and the desk copied our passports. When we returned to check in they said they didn't have our passport copies. This made us feel very uncomfortable that there were copies of our passports somewhere. Otherwise its an excellent location to go to Narita. Very convenient for train,subway, dining and shopping. Rooms are very small but great as long as you know.

Loved this hotel. The staff were friendly and amazing; especially the room cleaning team. It’s so close to everything (shopping, food and Ueno nightlife) and I was able to get to and from Narita Airport in approximately 45 minutes. Bonus: The hotel is right across the streets from the Ueno train station.

Location was good. Room was very small. Elevators very busy in the morning but you will get in after a few tries. Space in lobby limited as guest's bags can take a lot of space in the morning after check out. Breakfast is value for money but space is limited and often so out if you are not quick enough to buy a coupon. Staff service is excellent.

Was a nice comfortable hotel, room was small, but as expected. TV in room was very nice, able to use all my smart apps on it like Netflix. Things I didn't like: - only 2 elevators for whole hotel, stairs are only for emergency use, can take a few tries with bags to get on an elevator so be sure to plan for that. - breakfast buffet wasn’t for me, while they list it as being a mix of both asian and western dishes, most items were for the asian palate, and the restaurant is very small, so it fills up quickly, needed up only eating there once, and skipping the rest of my vouchers.

The location is awesome, steps away from Ueno park and Ueno train station. Our room was bigger than expected for a Tokyo hotel. The only pity was that their breakfast starts at 7:00 instead of 6:30, so we had to miss it to catch the train for airport, although already prepaid the breakfast at booking.

The room was overheated (86F). We were told to open a window. The carpet had slivers of wood and nail clippings. The glass and mirror surfaces were smudged. The breakfast area was a whole other level of subpar. The (male) staff treated every request as an imposition. The setup was ramshackle with folding tables holding heating pots of miso and rice. The staff stayed in the kitchen as much as possible, resulting in sticky tables and trays, and unreplenished dishes on the buffet. The food itself was not of the quality we have come to expect from APA hotels. These issues may seem minor, but taken together, they make for an unpleasant experience. We will not be returning to this hotel.
