Check in was fine, we had to park about 400 yds from the hotel because they had a band playing at the outside venue and there was no parking specific for guests of the hotel because of the people at the outdoor venue taking all the parking. There was no elevator so we had to carry all our luggage up a flight of stairs. Our room was just above the kitchen and the exhaust fan from the kitchen was right outside and below our window and so our window AC unit just sucked in nothing but smoke and kitchen exhaust. Terrible!!!! Room was clean, staff was nice but not a good nights stay at all.

Beautiful historical Inn. My room was on the 3rd floor. Quiet and clean, no frills but comfortable. No elevator due to being a historic building. Didn't get to seeing the 2 other properties but my room had a private bathroom. Only issue was due to the space the shower stall was very tight. Water pressure was good and it has a heater fan, which was a unexpected perk. I ate dinner at their restaurant, good portions and hot, not nuked in a microwave. The staff were friendly/polite, made sure I was accommodated. They answered any questions that I had about the historic house, gave suggestions about other places in town and made me feel at home. Continental breakfast was better than most places I've stayed at. Will definitely have to plan a longer stay without other plans. I was up for a wedding (not at their venue) and stayed 2 nights. Also wanted to add they have a on property maintenance who was personable and made sure that I could call if the room was to cold. Due to being on the 3rd floor it seemed to have a separate heating system. Great stay would recommend to anyone looking for a unique experience.

Staff at front desk was very pleasurable. Food was excellent for late night dining. It was a little difficult climbing to the third floor for my husband who is 72 years old.

We did the whole experience with dinner and attending the live music at the outdoor venue. The Inn was beautiful, the food was great and the staff were really friendly, We would definitely stay here again. A highlight of our trip so far.

The Governor's Inn is a 100 year old building that has gone through several changes over the years. It's in need of renovation, which the owner, from what I can see is working to get the place ship-shape. The staff & services though make up for any inconvenience. The restaurant, bar & music venues are first rate. People from all around the area stop by to enjoy. There is no elevator, however the staff, at no prompting are willing to help with your luggage.Everything considered, it's a good value. There is a lot of history at the Governor's Inn.

Friendly staff and good restaurant and bar - we ate at the Spaulding Steak and Ale - really decent steak and good beer too. Pleasant grounds and the garage, which had live bands that night is really close. Easy walk into the centre of Rochester as well. Recommended.

Very dirty. The room was unlike the pictures displayed on the site. We stayed for one night and found hairs all on the top cover and sheet of the bed. The same hairs were found in the standup shower. There were little fruit flies flying around in the room and bathroom. The carpet could use a deep cleaning and vacuuming. Unfortunately we were unable to swap rooms since they shut down at 10pm until 8pm. No front desk after hours. First and last time I ever stay at this inn.

I like the property itself. I think it’s great that they have a garage with music and a restaurant, but I thought the rooms could be a little cleaner and the rugs be vacuumed a little more. There was a huge dust bunny under the couch in my room, but for the most part I liked it. I don’t know if I would stay there again, but it was OK.

My overnight stay was perfect! Room and bathroom were very clean. Enjoyed it more than staying at a hotel! Although the restaurant didn't have a lot of GF options, everything smelled awesome. I would have given it a try if I didn't have other plans. Will stay here again anytime I am in Rochester!!!

Although the staff was terrific, hotel conditions were absolutely horrible. Disgusting, dirty floors, hairs in the shower and stains on the bedding. My wife and i stayed on New Year's Eve for our first time at the "hotel", and it will definitely be our last.

Lots of food and music to enjoy here. I unfortunately didn't sleep well because of the hardness of the bed, felt like I was sleeping on a rock. The staff are friendly and the rooms are decently clean, the only dirty area was the ac, as it had built up dust and didn't seem to be well cleaned. Overall its an okay place to stay, as long as you like hard beds.

Love the Governors Inn our only complaint is the beds just aren’t that comfortable, better than last time, but not the best still. Carriage house is cute but shower pressure was awful Restaurant & bar are fantastic & can’t say enough good things about staff ! Will go back but stay in different room !

The room was a little small, but ok for one night stay. The airconditioner was very noisy making sleeping a little difficult. The heater in the ensuite had no handle so was on 100% of the time, so the room was very hot and uncomfortable. The entire power in the room is operated by one switch...we couldnt run the a/c by itself (the tv had to be on as well, strange situation)

Elegant and historic, first Inn of NH. Watch out for the third floor room, while it’s spacious and a comfortable suite, it has a sloping ceiling with eaves. Plenty of hiking trails. Coffee service was spotty, only mostly 8-10. Continental breakfast. Kuerig in lobby was broken and not repaired over a four day span. Would be really nice to have hard boiled eggs for lactose intolerant folks.

Cheap bed but not too uncomfortable. Cheapest furniture—iron frame, fabric drawers, wobbly lamps, no easy chair; only the “desk” chair. Better chairs in hall. Lobby, practically bare with old chairs with questionable legs. Their attached club must bring in money to run the place. That they have loud, booming noise from right under your windows till it closes isn’t disclosed. It was a place to sleep and get out. Breakfast was Continental style and OK. We ordered pizza delivery instead of trying their restaurant.

I was in shock when I opened the door to our room and saw the beds. One had a mattress that had a huge dip/Crater in it. Not a comfortable stay and the young people that I told don’t seem to care at all. On the second day a manager was willing to move us but by then we were tired and not willing to move to another building. The only good part about our stay was the Restaurant, food and staff were excellent. Unless they update their mattresses I would not stay there again.

Excellent experience all around. We arrived very late and the a/c was running at the perfect temperature. Breakfast outside was lovely and the staff were very nice and friendly.

We had to wait 30 minutes to check in as the person who is supposed to be working the desk was also working in the restaurant. There is a live band that is playing late. The hotel it's self and the rooms are lovely!

The staff was amazing! They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and able to enjoy our stay. Natalie was very accommodating and upgraded our stay due to my inability to climb to the third story on a steeper staircase. Would love to come back again sometime. Charlotte was a very pleasant and helpful server in the on site restaurant.

Staff was exceptional cordial and pleasant. Took time to talk with guests. Breakfast was Continental but seating was in lovely dining room. Four of us has dinner there. All were more than satisfied with service and delicious meals. The Governor's Inn was exceptional clean and well maintained. We will definitely return when we are in the area. It is a gem!

I’ve stayed here multiple times. It’s an older property which hasn’t quite been updated with modern features such as ample outlets and dated fixtures, but it’s a pleasant place to stay. It sort of has antique charm. Staff are friendly and there’s restaurant in the main building. It’s also walked to the center of town for more restaurants, bars, and shopping.

This is a lovely, old inn. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was comfortable but the age showed a bit. The toilet in the room wasnt strong enough to flush only paper. It took a couple of flushes to get the paper down. The breakfast was very simple. The dining room was open to eat in but most of the tables had crumbs on them when I was looking for a seat. These little hiccups wouldn't stop me from staying again.
