EKHO Sigiriya - 700 meters to Sigiriya Rock

We stayed here for two nights and were mostly satisfied, but here are some pros and cons. Pros: It’s proximity to the rock, walking distance. Good beds. Good food, nice garden and bar area. Excellent service and hospitality. The staff did their best to assist with issues (like arranging for a room change) and there were a few... Cons: Overall cleanliness in the rooms was not satisfactory. Low shower pressure and wifi signal. The biggest issue with our first room was that it was located right next to the Sigiriya road which was noisy enough to lose sleep over, so choose or ask for a room facing the garden if possible. Our next room did, and it was quiet, although this room had issues with small ants coming from the ceiling, mainly in the bathroom.

The hotel is in a wonderful location in terms of walkability but the rooms are on the main road. The staff was kind and helpful when needed but not proactive - they never showed me the pool or told me about dinner options or activities for the New Year that the hotel organized. The room was mostly clean but there was food left from the previous guest in the fridge and the bathroom had mold and really needs an upgrade. The room was also only cleaned on the 2nd but not the 3rd day of my 4 days there. The bed was also way too soft (but I guess some people like that).

This is a great place to stay! There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, the staff is wonderful, and the room is very comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience.
