The idea of the place is really nice. The upkeep and the overall state of the estate could be better. We were in chalet 16, where the bathroom has a strong odor and the sink is leaking. Chalet 17 & 18 were unfinished and full with burned waste, which made chalet 16 feel a bit unsafe. The zebra’s around the chalet was great, the kids loved it. You had to bring your own towels, for a place being just as expensive as a 4-star hotel, it did not live up to the expectations.

Truly an excellent choice. Having stayed at over 14 different locations around South Africa this last month this was refreshing. The chalets was comfortable and had everything we needed. We were gutted to stay just one night as we did not want to leave. We were urged to stay at the ATKV but decided to try this. True, the pool and hot (ish?) pool is small but the zebra’s, giraffes and other animals wandering through the chalets made up for any of it. It was also quiet and relaxing. So if you want fun, higher energy stay i would go across the road to Klein Kariba but if you want truly relaxing and enjoying a quiet fire, animals etc then this is it.

I booked a weekend away for our daughter and her partner as a birthday surprise. They have nothing but praise for their whole experience. A spa treatment was included and a 5 star lunch, all well above expectations. Highly recommend.
